背景技术
当从同一设施或附近的一个设施钻探新井或者重新钻探现有井时,在海上平台或陆上井场(well pad)投产的现有井具有重大风险。该风险是由于新井中的钻头或其他钻探设备与现有井的套管(casing)和/或井管的碰撞的可能性所造成的。这种碰撞将导致设备和井筒本身的损坏,而修理是昂贵的(并且还引入另外的风险),以及这种碰撞可能导致不希望有的碳氢化合物的释放,而可能没有有效手段来控制。用于避免碰撞的现有工具和技术是基于随钻测量和其他勘测,这可能没有足够的准确性以防止碰撞。由于不确定性和重大风险,在钻探操作期间通常关闭并监测与新的或重新钻探的井相邻的井,这减小了风险,但是对生产设施具有经济影响。
用于在进行钻探的同时定位井筒相对于相邻井筒的位置的可靠方法将不仅减小上述的重大风险,而且可以允许在没有合适方法的情况下本不会被视为可能或谨慎的井的钻探,以及可以增加钻探操作的效率(钻探速度)。
声学定位/成像以前在流体介质中以及在基于土壤的介质中具有广泛使用(例如海底地层声学剖面测定),但是具有比本申请所需的空间分辨率低的空间分辨率。另一方面,具有足够分辨率的装置/技术装置/技术(例如扫描声纳)的穿透能力对于本申请的尺寸/规模而言是不足的。更长距离的装置/技术(例如声学地质导向、地震)尽管具有足够的距离,但是不具有足够的分辨率。

因为本系统的适应性和灵活性,它能够被用来以各种方式高效地收集信息。例如,本系统能够被部署在多个现有井中并被用来检测在附近正在钻探或重新钻探的新井的进展。在其他实施例中,本系统能够被部署在多个现有井中并与一个或多个主动声源结合使用以确定现有井的轨迹。
本发明的一个优选实施例提供一种用于通过下述操作来获得在地下钻井时关于井的位置信息的方法:a)提供至少一个光纤或光纤电缆,所述光纤或光纤电缆被部署在正在钻探的井的声学范围内的井眼中,所述光纤电缆具有近端和远端,所述近端被耦合到光源和光电探测器,所述光纤电缆以声学方式被耦合到地下地层以便允许地下的声学信号影响电缆的物理状态;b)在正在钻探的井中提供声源;c)把至少一个光脉冲传送到电缆中;d)在光电探测器处接收指示电缆的至少一个第一部分的物理状态的第一光信号,其中选择所述第一部分以使得第一光信号提供关于声源的位置的第一项信息;以及e)把至少第一项信息输出到显示器。该方法还可包括下述步骤:确定第一项信息是否满足预定准则,并且如果满足该准则,则改变正在钻探的井的轨迹。

具体实施方式
一开始参照图1和2,海上环境10包括通常位于水20的某一深度的多个现有井12和新井14(以虚线(phantom)示出)。这些井穿过海底21并延伸到地下22。地下22包括目标地层24。如图2中所示,每个井从海底沿着所期望的轨迹延伸。众所周知,通常将从平台30等等钻探新井14。
在所示出的系统中,期望沿着所示的轨迹钻探井14,以便使与目标地层24的接触最大化并因此使来自井14的产量最大化。井12足够靠近所期望的井14的轨迹,使得如果在钻探期间未适当地引导井14的轨迹或者如果未在足够准确性或确定性的情况下知道井12的轨迹,则可能存在井14将与井12之一的轨迹相交的风险。
已经发现,通过监测一个或多个井12中的声学信号,能够获得关于井14的轨迹的有用的实时信息。具体而言,通过如下面详细所述的在一个或多个现有井12中布置分布式声学传感器,能够处理在井14中生成并由分布式声学传感器接收的声学信号以给出关于井14的信息。例如,在钻头钻探井14时由钻头生成的噪声从井14经过地下被传送到井12。可替换地,一个或多个其他声源能够被放置在井14中并被用来把声学信号发送到井12中的传感器。
适合用在本发明中的分布式声学系统是已知的。仅作为示例,单个电缆或光纤可被部署到每个现有井12中。每个电缆优选地包含连接到在井口32处的信号处理中心(未示出)的光纤,所述信号处理中心优选地在海底井的情况下经由临时管缆(umbilical)等等与钻探操作通信,或者在平台、钻探船或生产船上的井口的情况下直接与钻探操作通信。所述信号处理中心包括:光源,其被布置成把光学信号引入到电缆的近端中;以及光电探测器,其被布置成检测朝着输入端向回在电缆内反射或反向散射的辐射并且响应于检测到的辐射而生成输出信号。
光源可被配置成向一个或多个光纤或光纤电缆中提供光脉冲,同时优选地向每个光纤或电缆提供光电探测器,但是单个光电探测器可经由多路复用装置被连接到一个或多个光纤。光纤或光纤电缆优选地被提供在存在相交风险的每个现有井12中,但是即使使用更少的电缆或者向少于所有现有井提供传感器,也能够获得关于井14的有用信息。在一些情况下,可使用单个现有井中的单个电缆。
每个光纤电缆优选地以声学方式被耦合到地下地层,使得在地下行进的声学信号能够影响电缆的物理状态并产生以光学方式可检测的变化。通过改变电缆的物理状态,声学信号引起电缆的反向散射性质的局部或半局部变化,这种变化又改变由光电探测器所感测的反向散射或反射的光。使用现有技术中已知的技术,从电缆接收的光学信号能够被用来提取关于(一个或多个)输入的声学信号的位置和大小的信息。根据本发明,这个信息又被用来估计声源的位置。如上所述,所述源可以是工作的钻头或任何其他声源。
各种技术能够被用来实现必要程度的声学耦合。在一个实施例中,光纤电缆被往下放到现有井12中并且在井筒中不受约束,在井筒中它通常被液体包围。在其他实施例中,光纤电缆能够每隔一段间隔被夹在套管或生产或注入管的内部或外部,或者通过合适的粘合剂等等被沿着它的长度固定。在另外的其他实施例中,光纤电缆能够被布置在套管的外部,使得它经由环带中的水泥以声学方式被耦合到地层。在另外的其他实施例中,光纤电缆能够被包括在各种井下工具和完井部件(例如砂筛、割缝或带眼衬管、其他防砂部件和套管接头)中,或者被包括在通常用于修井的其他工具(例如挠性管、复合中空或实心管、编织电缆、用于传送测井工具的通信电缆或钢丝电缆)中,或者被包括在专门为了获得所需的声学信息的目的而传送到现有井中的这种或类似装置中。在所有情况下,所需的声学耦合的程度可取决于每个井的性质和完成状态以及声源和信号的性质。
在一些实施例中,光源是长相干长度稳相激光器,并被用来发射沿着光纤的直接序列扩展光谱编码的光。声学振动或其他破坏(disruption)对光纤引起小的变化,这又产生反向散射光信号的变化。返回的光信号因此既包含关于声学振动的信息又包含指示声音沿着光纤在哪里影响光纤的位置信息。沿着光纤的声学信号的位置能够使用扩展光谱编码来确定,所述扩展光谱编码唯一地对沿着光纤的长度的飞行时间进行编码。因为光纤能够被选择性地“询问”,本系统具有可适应和/或可编程的能力。使用光纤实现了由光纤单独地或共同地并实时地执行的声学感测的空间分辨率、定时、灵敏度和位置的改变。因为这个原因,本系统能够被称为灵活系统。
光纤或电缆可以是双端的,即可回送或者包括在最深部署点的回转装置从而所述源可到达电缆的两端,或者它可以是单端的,其中一端在所述源处并且另一端在远离所述源的点处。电缆的长度的范围能够从几米到几千米,或者甚至几百千米。在任一情况下,如果仅在电缆的源端处存在光接收装置,则测量能够仅基于反向散射光,或者光接收装置能够被提供在电缆的第二端,使得也能够测量在光纤电缆的第二端的光的强度或其他性质。
使用光学时域反射测量(OTDR)技术,有可能确定从沿着光纤电缆的任何点到达的反向散射光的量。虽然光脉冲的持续时间确定空间分辨率的下限,但是所得到的信号能够被用来按照任何更大的间隔提取信息。这能够通过把反向散射光信号分成一系列时间上的窗口(bin)来实现。每个窗口内的数据被求和以给出关于窗口的端点之间的光纤的长度上的平均应变的信息。可以使这些窗口任意地大以对光纤的更长部分进行采样。窗口可以具有相同大小并且连续地分布在光纤的整个长度上,其中一个窗口的末端变为下一窗口的开始,但是如果期望的话,则除了连续窗口之间的间距之外还能够调整每个窗口的尺寸和位置以产生最佳的所期望的空间采样分辨率和灵敏度。
因此,通过对接收的反向散射信号进行时间选通,每个光纤电缆能够被视作多个分立的分布式声学“传感器”(DAS),其中每个传感器对应于电缆的一部分。能够控制时间选通以产生与所期望的一样长的或短的部分/传感器。例如,电缆的一个部分能够使用具有长度L1的电缆的相对较短的部分以高分辨率感测,而电缆的另一部分22能够使用具有长度L2的电缆的相对较长的部分以较低分辨率感测。在一些实施例中,较高分辨率部分长度L1优选地落在范围0.1至10 m内,并且较低分辨率部分长度L2优选地落在范围10至1000+ m内。
合适的DAS技术的一个实例是被称为Blue Rose的系统。这个系统利用Rayleigh光学散射的物理现象,该物理现象天然地发生在传统上用于光学时域反射测量(OTDR)技术的光纤中。Blue Rose检测反向散射光,并使用该信号以给出关于由在电缆附近的活动引起的声学事件的信息。传感器是在大约九英寸的深度埋在地下的、具有弹性体的、聚合物的、金属的、陶瓷的、或复合的涂层的单股的单模光纤。可替换地,相干OTDR(C-OTDR)过程能够被用来从光学系统获得类似的声学信息,正如在美国申请No. 20090114386中所公开的那样。
在其他实施例中,能够使用诸如在美国申请No. 2008277568中描述的光学系统之类的光学系统。该系统使用具有不同频率并在时间上分开的光信号的脉冲对。如果使用的话,这种系统允许更容易地执行信号的处理,并且与从沿着光纤的长度的不同位置反向散射的单个频率的辐射被用来通过干涉而在光电探测器生成信号的情况相比具有更大的信噪比。
由DAS提供的灵活感测允许沿着高度感兴趣的间隔的最大分辨率采样,而没有较低兴趣的过采样区域。在一些实施例中,能够以下述方式从DAS电缆收集数据:即从电缆的一个部分(举例来说,例如位于井12的最靠近井14的部分中的部分)给出相对较高分辨率数据。如果DAS电缆被永久地安装在井12中,则如果井14保持在很大距离上靠近井12或者如果稍后钻探第二新井14’并且第二新井14’接近与井14接近的井12的部分不同的井12的部分,改变电缆的哪个部分以高分辨率感测的能力可能是有利的。
因为本灵活系统在全部DAS电缆或DAS电缆的选择的部分中允许非常高的分辨率,所以它提供以下述方式收集数据的能力:即允许比此前已可能的精度大得多的精度。另外,通过随着时间过去重复感测并比较所得到的信息,将有可能确定是否满足预定准则(例如所期望的井之间的最小间距),以及改变新井的路线以便避免相交。
尽管本发明能够被用在单个“监听”井12中,但是优选实施例包括至少两个、并且更优选地至少三个这种井,其中在每个井中具有至少一个DAS光纤或电缆。如果多于一个光纤或电缆被提供在单个井中,则来自该井的数据能够被用来降低信噪比和/或允许选择来自更好地耦合到环境的电缆或电缆部分的更好的数据。
不管是否在井中存在多于一个DAS光纤或电缆,来自多个井的数据能够被组合以给出声源相对于每组传感器的位置的更准确的确定。在一些实施例中,当在多个传感器中的每个传感器接收到信号时信号的衰减的程度能够被用作距离的指示,并因此形成用于确定源的位置的基础。可替换地,如果声源被故意地或巧合性地、随机地或可预测地调制,则从所述源到每个传感器的每个声学调制的传送时间能够形成用于三角测量计算的基础。典型地,取得多个距离测量,然后使用它们来如图1中所示地使用三角测量方法或者使用其他定位算法计算井筒位置。在另外的其他实施例中,可能期望除了任何固有声学信号之外还提供调制的信号,以便促进来自几个电缆的信号的多路复用。
当使用双端光纤时,一个井中的光纤的一端能够被连接到相邻井中的光纤的一端,从而在单次采集中有效地收集多井DAS数据,而不需要多个光源、光电探测器或多路复用器/开关。
同样,可能期望在一个或多个井的顶部包括另外的声源和/或声学传感器。从这种传感器或通过使用这种源收集的数据能够被有利地与从井下DAS传感器搜集的数据结合使用。例如,当一个或多个声源被提供在表面(或者在井口或者在别处)时,来自一个或多个井12中的DAS电缆的数据能够被与关于这些源的位置的知识结合使用以限定井12相对于(一个或多个)源的位置。
在一个实施例中,在井口32处的信号处理中心持续地对在沿着光纤电缆的每个部分的反向散射光的量进行采样,并比较反向散射光强度与前一采样以确定是否已发生反向散射光强度的足够的变化,并且如果是的话,则确定在哪个(哪些)点发生这种变化。这种方法能够生成不实用的或者难以处理的大量数据,特别是在空间分辨率相对较高的情况下。因此,在另一实施例中,通过对来自一个或多个监测部分的光强度的变化的检测,可以启动对在电缆的特定部分中的反向散射光的感测和定位。因为这种方法允许较少量数据的存储,所以这种方法在对能够收集、传送或处理的数据的量存在限制的情况下可能是有利的。

Claims (10)
1. 一种用于在地下钻井时获得关于井的位置信息的方法,包括:
a)提供至少一个光纤或光纤电缆,所述光纤或光纤电缆被部署在正在钻探的井的声学范围内的至少一个井眼中、或者被部署在正在钻探的井中、或者被铺设在正在钻探的井的范围内的海底上,所述光纤或光纤电缆具有近端和远端,所述近端被耦合到光源和近端光电探测器,所述光纤电缆以声学方式被耦合到地下地层以便允许地下的声学信号影响所述电缆的物理状态;
b)在正在钻探的井中、或在正在钻探的井的范围内的一个或多个井眼中、或在正在钻探的井的范围内的海底上提供声源;
c)把至少一个光脉冲传送到所述光纤或电缆中;
d)在所述光电探测器处接收指示所述电缆的至少一个第一部分的物理状态的第一光信号,其中选择所述第一部分以使得第一光信号提供关于所述声源的位置的第一项信息;
e)把至少第一项信息输出到显示器。
2. 根据权利要求1所述的方法,还包括下述步骤:确定第一项信息是否满足预定准则,并且如果满足所述准则,则改变正在钻探的井的轨迹。
3. 根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中,至少一个光纤或光纤电缆被提供在正在钻探的井的声学范围内的多个井眼中的每个中、或者被提供在正在钻探的井中、或者被提供在正在钻探的井的范围内的海底上,在每个电缆中重复步骤c)和d),并且从多个光纤电缆收集的信息被用来对一个或多个声源的位置进行三角测量。
4. 根据权利要求3所述的方法,还包括下述步骤:使用第一项信息以确定至少一个所述井眼的位置。
5. 根据权利要求3所述的方法,还包括下述步骤:当声学信号行进到每个电缆部分时,测量所述声学信号的衰减的程度。
6. 根据权利要求3所述的方法,还包括下述步骤:当声学信号行进到每个电缆部分时,测量所述声学信号的传送时间。
7. 根据权利要求1所述的方法,还包括:随着时间过去重复至少步骤c)至e)。
8. 根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中,所述声源是工作的钻头。
9. 根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中,所述声源被调制。
10. 根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中,所述声源提供随机改变的频谱和功率输出。
