Fig. 1 is the explanatory view that is used for the system of investigation and interview quality according to an embodiment of the invention; And
Fig. 2 is the process flow diagram that is used for the investigation and interview method for quality according to an embodiment of the invention.
Embodiment
Fig. 1 is the explanatory view according to the system 20 that comprises visit quality monitoring device (AQM) 22 of an embodiment.AQM 22 is registered as the DNS name server that the territory such as aqm.net is had authority.AQM is configured to handle the DNS inquiry, especially for the DNS inquiry of resolving the qualification domain name fully (FQDN) that the designator of visit quality is encoded.
Hereinafter, the FQDN that the visit quality indicator is encoded is known as the camouflage host name. The camouflage host name generally includes two parts.A part is the domain name (that is the domain name aqm.net in given situation) that has authority to its AQM such as AQM 22.Another part of camouflage host name is to comprise the key-strings of visiting quality indicator. From the reason of explanation, the visit quality indicator can have value 2314, and it can represent that communication delay is 231.4ms.The camouflage host name of utilizing designator to encode can be 2314.aqm.net.Can comprise additional information in the key-strings, such as the type of the identifier of the infrastructure that can visit and resource and measured visit quality. As described above, comprise that the exemplary camouflage host name of " rtt " visit quality type will be rtt.2314.aqm.net.
The camouflage host name is generated as and meets the FQDN standard, such as the length restriction of 255 bytes of defined among the IETF RFC 2181.Further describe as following, AQM is configured to and makes the DNS inquiry that is used to resolve the camouflage host name in response to receiving, and extracts the designator of also handling the visit quality.Because the visit quality indicator in DNS inquiry is received, so the required time delay of IP parsing in the internet client/server communication of many canonical forms has been avoided in the communication of designator. In addition because as below the parser cache that further describes, can advantageously reduce some traffic loads.
AQM also can implement the function like disclosed data survey server in the PCT application of assigning the application number US 10/51720 (PCT US10/51720) that gives the inventor, and the full text of above-mentioned PCT application is incorporated into this by reference.PCTUS 10/51720 discloses a kind of data survey server, and it will be visited qualitative data and transfer to the DNS application server that in Fig. 1, is illustrated as DNS application server 24.Data can be transmitted as continuous, synchronous or asynchronous data stream by AQM, perhaps can transmit as requested, that is to say when DNS application server or the request of another request of data side to transmit. The DNS application server will be directed to infrastructure by the visit that the web client is carried out based on the visit qualitative data.Alternatively or additionally, AQM can realize the function of DNS application server, comprise the function of guiding visit.
In illustrative situation, AQM 22 receives from resolver 25 and comprises the DNS inquiry of pretending host name, and this DNS inquiry is by 26 initiations of web client.Web client 26 can be the web browser, and such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Google Chrome, it supports the dynamic executable code such as JavaScript. The DNS inquiry utilizes UDP (UDP) to transmit usually, but also can transmit through transmission control protocol (TCP).The message of being transmitted generally includes the IP address of resolver. In certain embodiments, AQM can be configured to the resolver address is associated with client area 28.Client area 28 can be an IP network, and such as the autonomous system (AS) described in IETF RFC 1930, it is the network managed of ISP (ISP) normally.Alternatively or additionally, client area can be associated to the geographic area, such as city, country or continent.
In an embodiment of the present invention, web client 26 is carried out investigation code 30, and its generation comprises the DNS inquiry of pretending host name.Typically, investigation code 30 is forms of dynamic HTML (DHTML) code of execution in the web page 32.
Usually, the web page 32 provides service or comprises the irrelevant content of operation with the investigation code, and the investigation code is configured in the web client to move concurrently with the execution of service of the web page or content. The execution of investigation code is normally transparent for the user of web client.
The web client can receive the web page from portal website 34.Portal website 34 is understood that to be configured to utilize HTTP(Hypertext Transport Protocol) or other internet access agreement such as FTP and stream media protocol that the system of the software and hardware of institute's requested resource is provided. Can safeguard physically that in one or more internet infrastructure this infrastructure comprises infrastructure 36 from the addressable resource of portal website.
The investigation code is configured to have the instruction that is used for confirming to the measurement of the visit quality that is associated with the resource of visit such as the test resource 38 at infrastructure 36 places.Test resource 38 can be the Internet resources of any type, and it is by when visit content to web client return messages or other form.In one embodiment, test resource can be the JavaScript code. The example of investigation code of encoding with JavaScript and the test resource that is similarly the JavaScript code is shown in the appendix.
In illustrative scenario, the measurement of visit quality can be the time delay that is associated with the visit test resource.Time delay can comprise following one or more: response or " coming and going " time (send the transmission of request resource and receive the time that is passed between responding); Tie-time (such as carrying out IP connection, SSL connection or arriving the time of the connection of transactional applications server); And the time between the transmission byte (that is, transmission speed is measured with byte per second usually).
Because some infrastructure; CDN particularly; To carrying out high-speed cache from resource main or " original " source; So the further measurement of visit quality can be a time delay of measuring the back-call of test resource,, measures test resource the visit quality thus when being in the CDN high-speed cache.
The additional measurement of visit quality can be that mistake or corrupted data ratio (data corruption rate) (save or the bad number percent that divides into groups such as the batter; The perhaps ratio of packet loss), connect changeability or shake (such as the changeability of transmission speed or error rate), and to the measurement of availability (connect or designator that whether service is accomplished).
The investigation code can be configured to when visiting dissimilar resources, measure the different aspect of visit quality. For example, can be directed against such as the big relatively file greater than the file of 10 kilobyte and measure transmission time and shake, and can when visit provides the resource of short response message, measure availability and the measurement of tie-time.Shake maybe be especially relevant with audio or video flow transmission resource.
With regard to the function this respect that the visit quality is network and infrastructure performance, the visit quality that the web client is met with when the test resource at access infrastructure place is similar to the visit quality that other web client in the client area is met with usually.Below further describe by the profile ordinary representation of the visit quality that AQM generated from the zone to the visit quality of given infrastructure.
Fig. 2 is the process flow diagram that is used for investigation and interview method for quality 200 according to an embodiment of the invention.
In initial step 202, the request that portal website 34 receives to the web page 32 from web client 26.The web page of being asked comprises aforesaid investigation code 30.The investigation code can add the web page to by provider's (" resource provider ") of the page.In response to the request from the web client, portal website sends to the web client and comprises the web page of investigating code.
In certain embodiments, the stake code (stub code) that adds the web page to guides the web client to obtain the investigation code from the different web position such as the position of being managed by AQM operator. The investigation code can also be divided into some code segments, and each code segment is received separately by the web client. In alternative embodiment, the web client can be configured to comprise at first the investigation code.
In step 204, web client executing investigation code, it is the operation that comprises step 206-212.In case being loaded into the web client, the common web page of investigation code just begins to carry out.As indicated in the exemplary investigation code shown in the appendix, the mass measurement that the investigation code can be configured to visit a plurality of infrastructure place. In exemplary codes, an infrastructure in a plurality of options is selected as the infrastructure of visiting test resource there.
In step 206, the mass measurement that conducts interviews of investigation code, it is to comprise request for test resource 38 and carry out about the operation to the measurement of this request responding.Above some measurements with reference to 1 pair of visit of figure quality are described.
In one embodiment, shown in the exemplary investigation code of appendix I, send HTTP request to the test resource at selected infrastructure place by the investigation code. Also timer is set so that measure the time delay between request of sending and the acceptance test resource. In a further embodiment, alternatively or additionally, the investigation code can be configured to utilize other web agreements to send resource request, comprises being used to visit real-time service and to multimedia agreement.
Shown in the 15th row of the exemplary investigation code in the appendix, the resource parameters that generates at random also can be added to request.Add stochastic variable so that institute's requested resource is not other cache server from browser cache or ISP cache server, network to be provided, but self provide from selected infrastructure.
Test resource such as as the JavaScript code of dynamic executable code possibly be favourable, and this is because test resource self can be closed timer (the 3rd row of the exemplary test resource code in the appendix) once being received and carrying out at test resource. Therefore, the investigation code need not to wait by the time the web browser provides the resource reception notification.Regardless of the type of test resource, the investigation code is safeguarded the test availability of timer usually, when it does not receive response in special time period " overtime ".
As described above, can carry out the visit mass measurement of other type, some of them possibly be more suitable for dissimilar test resources. The investigation code can successively or walk abreast and carry out multiple measurement.
Can on infrastructure to be investigated, safeguard a plurality of test resources. In these resources, some can be identical, the comparison of the quality that allows thus between basis instrument, to conduct interviews.
In step 208, the investigation code generates designator based on measured visit quality. This designator can be generated as integer, and such as the sign of indication availability or time delay, it can be a unit with per mille or ten thousand/second.This designator also can be rounded to lower order of accuarcy, and such as near centisecond, thereby the delay that made 0.2314 second will provide designator 2300 rather than 2314.Further describe as following, equalization allows the DNS inquiry to be resolved from parser cache by resolver.
In step 210, the investigation code generates the camouflage host name, and it comprises key-strings and domain name.Key-strings comprises the designator of visiting quality at least.Key-strings can also comprise the additional parameter relevant with measured visit quality, such as the type of measured visit quality and the title of resource, infrastructure and portal website.Key-strings is added to domain name then.
In step 212, the investigation code is carried out the instruction of access resources, and resource addresses is the camouflage host name.Shown in the 9-11 of the exemplary test resource code of the example of such instruction in appendix is capable. For the designator 2314 of infrastructure that is called pub-infra0 and visit quality, the instruction that is generated is:
<script?src=″http://rtt.2314.pub-infra0.aqm.net″></script>
This instruction makes the web client generate the DNS inquiry, thereby in fact initiates the DNS inquiry by this instruction. In given example, resource is designated as internet address, just pretends host name.Specified resource also can utilize filename to specify in the instruction.
The DNS inquiry is received by resolver, and it is resolved from the camouflage host name of parser cache then or inquiry is forwarded to AQM 22.Usually, resolver carries out high-speed cache to the camouflage host name in life span (TTL), and above-mentioned life span is the time cycle that is provided with through the DNS response from AQM.When from the visit quality of given client area when constant relatively, many DNS inquiries will can not arrive AQM, in parser cache, resolved. The AQM that operates in like this is that abnormal cost is effective when the application that possibly only when visiting mass change, need notify provides the visit qualitative data, and above-mentioned application comprises the application such as performance monitoring and visit route. As described above, the rounding up of designator increased can think that visit quality on it not have the scope of variation. Therefore, it being understood that the load on the AQM can be provided with and the performed degree that rounds up of visit quality indicator is controlled through TTL.
In step 214, AQM receives and handles the DNS inquiry, and it is the operation that comprises step 216-220.
AQM confirms that at first the DNS request comprises the camouflage host name. The investigation code can be configured to generate the camouflage host name of multiple form, and it can for security reasons and in time change. In step 216, AQM extracts the visit quality indicator from the key-strings of camouflage host name, and additional key character string parameter. In step 218, AQM can provide DNS response to resolver then.In certain embodiments, AQM can utilize local ip address 127.0.0.1 to respond as DNS to web client self transmission parsing.Local parsing can be in web page generation error message, and this is common uncared-for error message.Alternatively, the DNS response can comprise the parsing to actual web server, and it is configured to utilize real resource to respond, and just utilizes actual addressable resource to respond. Can also be configured to comprise the title of real resource by the performed instruction of investigation code, if be received, it also can be ignored by the web page.
After having obtained the visit quality indicator, AQM can generate the profile of visit quality in step 220.Profile is the data value or the data stream that can provide to other requesting party of DNS application server 22 or visit qualitative data. Some requesting parties such as resource provider or CDN provider can be used to the visit qualitative data to keep accounts, and purpose perhaps is used for confirming or maintenance service quality (QoS) is promised to undertake.
In certain embodiments, profile is exclusively used in given infrastructure.Alternatively or additionally, profile can be based on the difference of the visit quality between two or more infrastructure.Profile can also be exclusively used in client area, that is to say, is exclusively used in given network, ISP or geographic area.Profile also can generate through using additional function to a series of visit quality indicators. For example, profile can be the moving average that the visit quality depends on the time, and this moving average is used for filtering out false the measurement.Moving average also can be by time weight, thus make more recent result (that is visit quality indicator) calculated average in have bigger weight.
In step 222, AQM can be delivered to DNS application server or other requesting party with profile.Alternatively or additionally, AQM can application access quality profile carries out the function of DNS application server.Especially, AQM can through confirm to the preferred infrastructure of visit confirm in the specific client end regions web client-access resource the route that can pass through, based on one or more these preferred infrastructure of visit quality profiles selection.
Institute should be understood that; Above described embodiment quoted through example; And scope of the present invention comprises that various combination of features described above and son make up the two, and those skilled in the art can be to its not disclosed variation and modification of carrying out in the prior art after having read above description.
