背景技术
收费电视(subscription television)系统通常包括电子节目指南(EPG)。随着交互式数字机顶盒(STB)的发展,一种新类型的高级多媒体EPG被开发,它有时可被称为交互式节目指南(IPG)。今天,首字母缩写词EPG和IPG可以被可互换地使用。
IPG提供节目网格菜单(grid menu)的屏上显示,该节目网格菜单包括接下来几天的用于每个频道的节目安排和剧集(episode)信息。可以以各种方式来布置节目网格菜单。节目网格菜单自身是用户界面,其中用户可利用遥控器(remote)上的方向键来对节目网格菜单进行导航(navigate)。例如,图1示出具有基于可用频道和时间信息的节目网格菜单的典型IPG。用户可导航或者滚动通过所选时隙内的节目列表,直到希望的节目被突出显示(highlight)。通常,IPG中的域被示为通过利用相对于任何其他域的背景不同的颜色背景而被突出显示。在这样的情况下,可选的域可被称为格(pill)。
一旦希望的域被突出显示为可选项,用户就可利用遥控器上的选择按钮来选择被突出显示的域。在图1中,用户已突出显示与题为“足球”的节目相对应的域,该域又与SPORTS1频道1937相对应。与“足球”相对应的域的周围边界或边缘已被加粗以描绘被突出显示。与所突出显示的域相关联的其他域的边界也可被加粗,例如相应的频道和时间。
图2还示出了其中用户可进行接口的选项的菜单。用户可滚动通过偏好(preference)列表,直到希望的域被突出显示。被突出显示的域变为可选择的,并且因此可被称为活动的。用户然后可选择该选项以改变其当前状态。在图2中再次使用了加粗来描绘每次观看付费(Pay-Per-View)(PPV)购买选项被突出显示。虽然图1和图2示出了域在IPG内被突出显示的两个具体示例,但是今天的IPG包括用户可滚动通过、突出显示和选择的数百甚或数千的可能性。

图3示出具有非均匀节目长度或运行时间的节目指南300的图形用户界面的屏幕快照(screen-shot)。例如,新闻节目310在9:08pm开始,在9:30pm结束。当使用突出显示效果时,用户利用来自诸如方向键之类的遥控器控制的输入,来滚动通过节目网格300。对于非均匀节目开始和结束时间,当向后朝先前突出显示的或活动的节目实例滚动时,突出显示效果将不会总是正确地工作。例如,如果用户向右滚动并且突出显示从9pm到10:40pm放映的电影节目320,则当用户接着滚动回左边时,对用户而言不确定发生什么。突出显示效果可突出显示从9:08pm到9:30pm的新闻节目310、从9:30pm到9:50pm的戏剧节目330、或者从9:50pm到11:30pm的戏剧节目340。在没有定向或重新定向哪个节目实例将会是可选和活动的适当算法的情况下,当用户向后滚动通过节目网格时,被突出显示的节目可向下或向上漂移。
为了提供适当的算法,水平偏置线(bias line)350和垂直偏置线360可被计算。当节目网格300被第一次显示时,这些偏置线350、360将会被计算。通过计算当前被突出显示的节目的域的可见面积的中心、并且从该中心水平地和垂直地延伸线条,来计算偏置线350、360。例如,当用户第一次观看节目网格300时,当前突出显示的节目的域是频道6的新闻节目310。因此,水平偏置线350从新闻节目310的中心水平地延伸,并且垂直偏置线360从新闻节目310的中心垂直地延伸。用户可指定当观看节目网格时,水平和垂直偏置线是否向用户显露。
图4示出具有沿水平偏置线移动的突出显示效果的节目网格300的屏幕快照。节目网格300描绘了水平轴(y轴)上的频道和垂直轴(x轴)上的时间。当用户从新闻节目310向右滚动时,与水平偏置线350相交的第一节目变为突出显示的。因此,从9pm到10:40pm的电影节目320现在被突出显示。每次用户在水平方向上滚动时,垂直偏置线360都被重新计算。一旦电影节目320被突出显示,垂直偏置线360的位置现在就被重新计算和移动。如果用户接着滚动回左边,则与水平偏置线350相交的第一节目是新闻节目310,并且垂直偏置线360的位置会被重新计算。在此实例中,水平偏置线350不被重新计算。如果用户要向上或向下滚动,则水平偏置线350会被重新计算。
图5示出具有沿垂直偏置线移动的突出显示效果的节目网格500的屏幕快照。节目网格500描绘了垂直轴(y轴)上的频道和水平轴(x轴)上的时间。当用户第一次观看节目网格500时,例如,当前节目是频道7的电影节目510。因此,垂直偏置线520从电影节目510的被突出显示的域的中心垂直地延伸,并且水平偏置线530从电影节目510的被突出显示的域的中心水平地延伸。当用户从电影节目510向下滚动时,与垂直偏置线520相交的第一节目变为突出显示的。因此,当从电影节目510向下滚动时,频道8的体育节目540被突出显示。每次用户向上和向下滚动时,水平偏置线530都被重新计算,但是垂直偏置线520的位置保持相同。如果用户向右滚动,则垂直偏置线520的位置将必须被重新计算。
垂直和水平偏置线被计算,以便当在具有运行时间非均匀的节目的节目指南中导航时,确定要选择哪个节目。运行时间是变量。因此,如果时间显示在y轴上,则当在节目网格中从右向左地滚动时,仅仅垂直偏置线需要被重新计算。因为频道信息是均匀的,所以当右向左地移动时,水平偏置线无需重新计算。计算和重新计算垂直偏置线的位置使用户能当滚动通过节目网格时线性地定向突出显示效果。

Claims (6)

在x轴上显示频道信息; 
在y轴上显示非均匀时间信息; 
从当前突出显示的域的可见面积的中心水平地和垂直地延伸线条来计算垂直偏置线和水平偏置线; 
用户在所述EPG的多个域中导航; 
响应于在所述x轴的方向上从突出显示的节目实例导航开,重新计算所述垂直偏置线。 
2.根据权利要求1所述的方法,还包括如下步骤:导航至所述x轴上的、具有与先前突出显示的节目实例不同运行时间的一个节目实例。 
3.根据权利要求1所述的方法,还包括如下步骤:导航回先前突出显示的节目实例,并且重新计算所述垂直偏置线而不重新计算所述水平偏置线。 
4.一种用于在电子节目指南EPG上导航的方法,所述方法包括以下步骤: 
在网格布局上的域中显示节目信息; 
在y轴上显示频道信息; 
在x轴上显示非均匀时间信息; 
从当前突出显示的域的可见面积的中心水平地和垂直地延伸线条来计算垂直偏置线和水平偏置线; 
用户在所述EPG的多个域上进行导航; 
响应于在所述y轴的方向上从突出显示的节目实例导航开,重新计算所述水平偏置线。
