The method for reporting the signal strength comprises the following steps: pre-setting an RSSI incremental threshold; when the modem captures that the RSSI value changes, if an absolute value of subtracting the last recorded RSSI value from the current RSSI value is more than or equal to the RSSI incremental threshold, updating the recorded RSSI value and sending the current RSSI value to the RSSI reporting unit, and reporting the current RSSI value to the main-control CPU by the reporting unit; if the absolute value of subtracting the last recorded RSSI value from the current RSSI value is less than the RSSI incremental threshold, not treating the current RSSI value. By adopting the invention, the standby power consumption can be greatly reduced, and the signal bar display can be smoothed.

Background
When the main control CPU and the modem module are separated, the modem measures the current pilot signal intensity change and reports the current pilot signal intensity change to the main control CPU through an AT command, and the main control CPU processes and displays the signal lattice number according to the current pilot signal intensity change.
The mobile terminal is powered by a battery, so that higher requirements are placed on power consumption of the mobile terminal. In the actual use process of the mobile terminal, the mobile terminal is moved frequently, and the change of the measured Signal value of the RSSI (Received Signal strength) is frequent, so that the modem needs to wake up the main control CPU frequently during standby and report a new Signal strength value to the CPU for processing, and the CPU frequently works in a working state, thereby increasing the average power consumption during standby.

2) Since the user rarely pays attention to the signal strength of the mobile terminal in the standby state, the RSSI incremental threshold can be set as the maximum RSSI value when the mobile terminal is in the standby state by applying the method and the device, so that the modem can filter out all the acquired RSSI values without waking up the main control CPU, and the standby power consumption is further effectively reduced.
