Abstract
The invention discloses a fault detection method for operation management maintenance mechanism, comprising: setting a timer at trail terminal and starting the timer when the trail terminal receives an operation management maintenance request frame sent by a source terminal; judging the operation management maintenance mechanism having fault when the trail terminal reaches, and if the trail terminal fails to receive other operation management maintenance mechanism request frame from the source terminal. The invention can detect multiple faults in the operation process of OAM mechanism effectively and inform users of the faults through alarm, so that users can definitely learn the validity of the operation result of OAM mechanism, thereby reducing the cost of operation, maintenance and management of equipments.
Description
Technical Field
The present invention relates to the field of ethernet communications, and in particular, to a method for detecting a failure of an Operation Administration and Maintenance (OAM) mechanism.
Background
It can be seen from the description of ITU-T Y.1731 (OAM functions and mechanisms for Ethernet based networks), that the OAM mechanism provides the functions of monitoring network performance, fault location, management information transmission, etc., and in some cases, the OAM mechanism can replace expensive special test instruments, thereby saving the use cost of the network and facilitating the management method of the network.
However, the current OAM detection mechanism has the following problems: (1) according to the protocol specification, all frames of OAM types are forwarded in the same way as the data message of a user in the data plane, but the OAM frames are lost in the transmission process due to the possible congestion of the network; (2) when some links of the network are interrupted, if the network starts a protection function, the OAM frames may be received out of order or repeatedly.
In the current protocol, no method for detecting such faults and no method for processing faults are provided, and meanwhile, because the OAM mechanism can partially replace a special instrument for testing the transmission performance (throughput, delay, packet loss rate, etc.) of the network, when the part of OAM functions are enabled for network performance measurement, if the network sends a fault, the test result will be unreliable.
Therefore, a scheme capable of clearly notifying the authenticity of the test result to the user is necessary, however, a technical scheme capable of performing fault detection on the OAM itself and notifying the user has not been proposed yet.
Disclosure of Invention
The present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and therefore a primary object of the present invention is to provide a fault detection scheme for an operation, administration and maintenance mechanism to solve the problem in the related art that OAM fault detection and notification cannot be achieved.
According to an embodiment of the present invention, a fault detection method for an operation management maintenance mechanism is provided, which is used for performing fault detection on a non-return operation management maintenance mechanism.
The method comprises the following steps: setting a timer at a sink end, and starting the timer when the sink end receives an operation management maintenance request frame sent by a source end; when the timer arrives, if the sink end has not received other operation management maintenance request frames from the source end, it is determined that the operation management maintenance mechanism has a fault.
Before the sink receives the operation management maintenance request frame sent by the source, the method further includes: the source end carries a unique identifier in each operation management maintenance request frame sent by the source end; the source end sends an operation management maintenance request frame.
And the identifier of the operation management maintenance request frame is 1 greater than the identifier of the previous operation management maintenance request frame sent by the source before the operation management maintenance request frame.
After the sink receives the operation management maintenance request frame sent by the source, the method further includes: and the host judges whether the identifier of the operation management maintenance request frame is 1 greater than the identifier of the last operation management maintenance request frame received by the host, and determines that the operation management maintenance mechanism has a fault under the condition of no judgment.
According to another embodiment of the present invention, a method for detecting a failure of an operation management maintenance mechanism is provided, which is used for detecting a failure of a returnable operation management maintenance mechanism.
The method comprises the following steps: setting a timer at a source end; the source end sends an operation management maintenance request frame to the host end, starts a timer, and judges that an operation management maintenance mechanism has a fault under the condition that the source end does not receive a response frame corresponding to the operation management maintenance request frame from the host end when the timer arrives; or the source end sends an operation management maintenance request frame to the sink end, starts a timer when receiving an operation management maintenance response frame from the sink end, and judges that the operation management maintenance mechanism has a fault when the timer reaches and does not receive other operation management maintenance response frames from the sink end.
In addition, the operation management maintenance response frame returned by the host has the same identifier as the operation management maintenance request frame corresponding to the operation management maintenance response frame.
When the source end sends an operation management maintenance request frame, the source end stores the identifier of the sent operation management maintenance request frame in a preset set; after the source end receives the operation management maintenance response frame, whether the identifier of the received operation management maintenance response frame exists in a preset set or not is judged, and under the condition that the identifier does not exist in the preset set, the operation management maintenance mechanism is determined to have a fault.
Through the technical scheme of the invention, various faults in the operation process of the OAM mechanism can be effectively detected, and the faults can be informed to the user through the alarm, so that the user can clearly know the effectiveness of the operation result of the OAM mechanism, and the operation, maintenance and management costs of equipment are reduced.

Detailed Description
Generally, OAM operation mechanisms of ethernet can be generally classified into two types, one being non-returnable and the other being returnable. In the non-return mode, the source end actively sends the OAM frame, and the sink end only receives the OAM frame; in the return mode, the source end actively sends an OAM request frame, the sink end feeds back an OAM response frame to the source end after receiving the OAM request frame, and the source end finishes a feedback process after receiving the response frame. The present invention proposes a fault detection scheme for the OAM mechanism itself for both types of OAM mechanisms. In the following description, the OAM frame sent by the source end is collectively referred to as an OAM request frame, and the OAM frame sent by the sink end is collectively referred to as an OAM response frame.
Method embodiment one
In the embodiment, a fault detection method of an operation management maintenance mechanism is provided, which is used for performing fault detection on a non-return operation management maintenance mechanism.
As shown in fig. 1, the method for detecting a fault of an operation management maintenance mechanism according to the present embodiment includes: step S102, a timer is set at a sink, and the timer is started when the sink receives an operation management maintenance request frame sent by a source end; and step S104, when the timer arrives, if the sink end does not receive other operation management maintenance request frames from the source end, judging that the operation management maintenance mechanism has a fault.
Specifically, a timer and a threshold may be set at the sink, and the timer starts timing from zero when receiving an OAM request frame, and if the timer reaches the threshold and does not receive an OAM request frame, it is determined that a fault occurs. Therefore, the aim of detecting the frame overtime is effectively fulfilled. Preferably, in case of a failure, an OAM request frame may be generated to perform a timeout alarm.
In addition, before the sink receives the operation management maintenance request frame sent by the source, the method further includes: the source end carries a unique identifier in each operation management maintenance request frame sent by the source end; the source end sends an operation management maintenance request frame.
And the identifier of the operation management maintenance request frame is 1 greater than the identifier of the previous operation management maintenance request frame sent by the source before the operation management maintenance request frame.
After the sink receives the operation management maintenance request frame sent by the source end each time, the method further comprises the following steps: and the host judges whether the identifier of the operation, management and maintenance request frame is 1 greater than the identifier of the last operation, management and maintenance request frame received by the host, if so, the OAM mechanism is considered to be normal, and if not, the operation, management and maintenance mechanism is determined to have a fault. Therefore, the purpose of discontinuous fault detection of the OAM request frame is effectively realized.
And, in case of determining that a failure occurs, an OAM request frame may be generated to perform a discontinuous alarm.
Although the serial number setting process is described herein with the serial number plus 1 as an example, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that other methods may be used to set the serial number.
Method embodiment two
In the embodiment, a fault detection method of an operation management maintenance mechanism is provided, which is used for carrying out fault detection on a return type operation management maintenance mechanism.
As shown in fig. 2, the method for detecting a fault of an operation management maintenance mechanism according to the present embodiment includes: step S202, a timer is set at a source end; step S204, the source end sends an operation management maintenance request frame to the sink end, starts a timer, and judges that an operation management maintenance mechanism has a fault under the condition that the source end does not receive a response frame corresponding to the operation management maintenance request frame from the sink end when the timer arrives; or, in step S206, the source end sends the operation management maintenance request frame to the sink end, starts the timer when receiving the operation management maintenance response frame from the sink end, and determines that the operation management maintenance mechanism fails when the timer reaches and does not receive other operation management maintenance response frames from the sink end.
That is to say, for the returning OAM, a source end may set a timer and a threshold, and specifically, the following two methods may be used to perform fault detection: in the method 1, a timer starts timing from zero every time an OAM request frame is sent, and an OAM overtime alarm is generated if the timer does not receive an OAM response frame corresponding to the OAM request frame after reaching a threshold; in the method 2, the timer starts timing from zero when receiving an OAM response frame, and an OAM overtime alarm is generated if the OAM response frame is not received after the timer reaches the threshold.
For the OAM request frame sent by the source end, the identifier is carried by the inside of each frame payload, which may also be a sequence number, and the sequence number may be allocated by a sequence number generator.
In implementing the above two embodiments of the present invention, an identifier (serial number) needs to be carried in an OAM request message, and in an OAM frame structure defined in ITU-T y.1731, a part of the OAM frame structure carries the serial number, but for several categories, such as ETH-AIS, ETH-LCK, ETH-APS, ETH-MCC, ETH-LMM, ETH-LMR, ETH-1DM, ETH-DMM, ETH-DMR, ETH-EXM, ETH-EXR, ETH-VSM, and ETH-VSR frame structures, a field of Transmit ID/sequence ID needs to be added to carry the identifier (serial number);
the added fields may be named Transmit ID for ETH-AIS, ETH-LCK, ETH-APS, ETH-MCC, ETH-LMM, ETH-1DM, ETH-DMM, ETH-EXM, ETH-VSM, and Sequence ID for ETH-LMR, ETH-DMR, ETH-EXR, ETH-VSR.
The specific implementation method may be to fix the original End TLV to 0, change the End TLV to 4, and add a four-byte field transmit ID/Sequence ID after the End TLV in the frame structure. The structures before and after the above message change are shown in tables 1 to 26.
In practical implementation, the following devices need to be arranged at the source end:
(1) OAM request frame generator: according to configuration, when an OAM request frame needs to be sent, a serial number is obtained from an OAM request frame sequence generator, and the serial number is filled into a Transmit ID and sent out;
(2) OAM request frame sequence number generator: each time the OAM request frame generator finishes sending an OAM request frame, it adds 1 to the current sequence number and records it in the set P (i.e., the above-mentioned predetermined set);
(3) OAM overtime warning device: the device is internally provided with a timer, the timer starts to time from 0 every time an OAM response frame is received, and an OAM overtime alarm is generated if the OAM response frame is not received after the timer reaches a threshold
(4) OAM response frame discontinuous alarm device: the device always compares whether Sequence IDs in two continuously received OAM response frames are continuous or not, and if not, generates a discontinuous alarm
(5) OAM operation failure alarm: the device always compares whether the Sequence ID in the received OAM response frame belongs to the set P, and if not, generates an OAM operation failure alarm.
The following devices need to be set at the sink:
(1) OAM request frame receiver: the OAM request frame receiving module is used for receiving the OAM request frame and extracting a Transmit ID field in the OAM request frame;
(2) OAM request frame discontinuous alarm: the OAM frame detection device is used for detecting whether the Transmit IDs in two continuous received OAM request frames are continuous or not, and generating an OAM request frame discontinuous alarm if the Transmit IDs in two continuous received OAM request frames are discontinuous;
(3) OAM response frame sender: and triggering the sending of an OAM response frame every time an OAM request frame is received, and copying the Transmit ID in the current OAM request frame into the Sequence ID of the response frame.
When the OAM fault detection is performed, the process is as shown in fig. 3, and is not repeated here.
In summary, by means of the technical solution of the present invention, various failures in the operation process of the OAM mechanism can be effectively detected, and the failures can be notified to the user through the alarm, so that the user can clearly know the effectiveness of the operation result of the OAM mechanism, thereby reducing the cost of operation, maintenance and management of the device.
The above description is only a preferred embodiment of the present invention and is not intended to limit the present invention, and various modifications and changes may be made by those skilled in the art. Any modification, equivalent replacement, or improvement made within the spirit and principle of the present invention should be included in the protection scope of the present invention.
