Detailed Description
Embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail below with reference to the drawings.
Fig. 1 is a block diagram showing a configuration of a local information broadcasting system including a broadcasting device of the present invention.
In fig. 1, broadcasting devices 11 to 1n (n is an arbitrary natural number) are installed in one or more service areas for local broadcasting, such as an underground street or a shopping center in a large building, and broadcast the assigned broadcast content to the service areas in a digital broadcasting manner used in the installed service areas. The broadcasting devices 11 to 1n provided in each service area are connected to the master station 2 via communication paths A1 to An, respectively.
The master station 2 is connected to the content distribution center 3 via a communication path B, controls communication between the broadcasting devices 11 to 1n and the content distribution center 3, and a transmission device such as a radio base station or a transmission terminal station device corresponds to the master station 2.
The content distribution center 3 corresponds to a studio of a broadcasting station, and distributes local broadcast content and control information for controlling processes such as editing and transmission of the broadcasting devices 11 to 1n to the broadcasting devices 11 to 1n via the master station 2. Broadcast monitoring information transmitted from the broadcasting devices 11 to 1n is received via the master station 2.
The broadcasting devices 11 to 1n have the same structure. The following describes the configuration of the broadcasting apparatus 11 as a representative example.
The broadcasting device 11 includes a communication unit 111, and the communication unit 111 functions as a slave station for wireless communication or a network interface device for a wired system. The communication unit 111 performs data communication with the master station 2, and receives broadcast content and control information distributed from the content distribution center 3. Then, based on the control information, for example, edit control information for the content edit/storage section 112 is generated, and transmission on/off control information for a power amplifier 114C described later is generated. The broadcast content received by the communication unit 111 is transmitted to the content editing/storing unit 112 together with the editing control information.
The content editing/storing unit 112 edits the broadcast content into a predetermined local broadcast program based on the editing control information, and sequentially stores the edited program. The broadcast content stored in the content editing/storing section 112 is periodically read out by the periodic output section 113 and transmitted to the transmitting device 114.
As the transmission device 114, a device for broadcasting used in an area where the broadcasting device 11 is installed, for example, a device for terrestrial digital broadcasting having a strong anti-multipath reflection or interference capability is used. Next, the present embodiment will be described by taking as an example a case where a transmitting apparatus for terrestrial digital broadcasting is used.
The transmitting device 114 allocates input content to a predetermined carrier wave by an OFDM (orthogonal frequency Division multiplexing) modulator 114A, performs OFDM modulation, and converts the obtained OFDM modulated signal into a broadcast frequency allocated in advance by a frequency converter 114B. Then, when the transmission on/off control information from the communication unit 111 instructs transmission on, the power amplifier 114C power-amplifies the OFDM modulated signal converted to the broadcast frequency, and transmits the signal as a terrestrial digital broadcast signal from the antenna 115 as a weak radio wave having a coverage area of about 100 meters, for example. The radio wave can be received and demodulated by a receiving terminal 4 such as a receiver for terrestrial digital broadcasting or a mobile phone terminal compatible with terrestrial digital broadcasting.
As described above, the broadcasting device 11 including the transmitting device 114 for terrestrial digital broadcasting is installed in a service area where it is difficult to receive terrestrial digital broadcasting waves, such as a building including a shopping mall or a large store, or an underground shopping mall, and can be regarded as a small broadcasting station covering the service area. When the receiving terminal 4 enters the service area where the terrestrial digital broadcast wave received by the receiving terminal 4 cannot reach, the digital broadcast wave of the new content in the service area is received instead of the terrestrial digital broadcast wave received before.
The processing steps of the broadcasting apparatus 11 described above are shown in fig. 2. In fig. 2, first, the communication unit 111 monitors the reception status of the broadcast content received from the communication path a1 (step S1), and when the broadcast content is received, the received broadcast content is transmitted to the content editing/storing unit 112 and stored (step S2).
The content storage status of the content editing/storing unit 112 is monitored by the periodic output unit 113 (S3), and when broadcast content is stored, the periodic output unit 113 periodically reads the content, and the transmitting device 114 converts the content into a terrestrial digital broadcast signal and transmits the terrestrial digital broadcast signal (step S4).
The content output status in step S4 is monitored by the communication unit 111 (step S5), and when the output is completed, the process returns to the content storage monitoring in step S3 and continues.
Further, the digital broadcast wave transmitted by the broadcasting device 11 need not be limited to be operated at the channel frequency of one broadcasting station of the terrestrial digital broadcast operated in the area where the transmitting device 114 is located, and if a plurality of stations are operated, the broadcast content can be viewed and listened to regardless of the channel frequency at which the broadcast content is received when operated at several channel frequencies corresponding to the stations, and the operation of selecting a station by the user can be simplified.
The broadcast content transmitted periodically may be stored in the content storage unit 112 as one program, for example, and may be sequentially overwritten and updated by the broadcast content newly received by the communication unit 111 from the communication path a 1. As another method, the broadcast content may be stored and managed in the content editing/storing unit 112 in a plurality of program units, and the periodic output unit 113 may select a program specified by the control information from the content distribution center 3 from among the plurality of programs stored in the content editing/storing unit 112 and periodically transmit the selected program.
According to the broadcasting apparatus configured as described above, the distributed broadcast content is received through the communication paths a1 to An, B, automatically stored, and periodically outputted to be broadcast as a terrestrial digital broadcast. Therefore, it is possible to view and listen to the broadcast content by using the receiving terminal 4 corresponding to the reception of the terrestrial digital broadcast, which has recently become widespread.
Therefore, in a service area where the communication paths a1 to An can be laid, local broadcast content in the service area can be easily broadcast only by disposing the broadcast apparatus 11 at An arbitrary place.
The signal format, modulation scheme, and the like of the terrestrial digital broadcasting are determined according to the specifications applied to the country, region, and the like in which the broadcasting device is installed. As the digital broadcasting, for example, there are a system using only 1 segment of OFDM, a DMB system, and the like, but it is preferable to adopt a digital broadcasting system having a strong capability of resisting multipath reflection, interference, and the like occurring in a service area such as a building.
On the contrary, in the case where terrestrial digital broadcasting is not applied, although the interference resistance performance and the like are deteriorated, a broadcasting system to which an existing broadcast wave such as AM or FM is applied is targeted for the present invention. In the case where the receiving terminal 4 is a mobile phone terminal, it is needless to say that details are omitted because they can be easily analogized to conventional broadcast waves.
In the above configuration, the communication unit 111 transmits information on the content stored in the content editing/storing unit 112 to the content distribution center 3 via the master station 2, and when an instruction for unnecessary content is received from the content distribution center 3, the instructed content is deleted in the content editing/storing unit 112. Thereby, the content distribution center 3 can control the content storage in the broadcasting apparatus 11.
Further, the communication unit 111 selectively stops the output of the power amplifier 114C when receiving control information instructing on/off of transmission from the content distribution center 3. This enables remote stop of content broadcast by the broadcast apparatus 11 from the content distribution center 3.
The communication path a1 may be a wired transmission line using a communication cable including an optical fiber or a coaxial cable capable of broadband communication, or may be a user system communication network implemented wirelessly.
In a wireless system, communication can be performed by a user system implemented by FWA (Fixed wireless access), a mobile phone line, a user system using a mobile phone line, or the like. However, in consideration of communication costs, device costs, the above-mentioned constant connectivity, and traffic securing, among others, a user system communication network using WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for microwave Access) which has recently become popular is excellent in overall performance.
That is, WiMAX is not limited to a narrow space such as a wireless Local Area Network (LAN) in which broadband wireless communication can be performed in a wide range having a radius of several tens of kilometers. Therefore, the station arrangement design of the master station 2 and the broadcasting device 11 provided near the content distribution center 3 becomes easy. Thus, the broadcasting device 11 can be disposed at an arbitrary position within the WiMAX coverage area, and the laying of the communication cable described above can be omitted, and the content can be distributed in a broadband from the master station 2.
Furthermore, if WiMAX is used, the installation position of the broadcasting device 11 becomes free and connection can be performed constantly. Therefore, with the communication path a1, the traffic for content distribution can be easily ensured.
Other advantages and variations will be apparent to those skilled in the art. The invention in its broader aspects is therefore not limited to the specific details and embodiments shown and described herein. Thus, various modifications may be made without departing from the general inventive concept as defined by the claims and their equivalents.
