背景技术
同轴电缆通常用于从信号源向终端用户传输高频电视和计算机信号。
电缆包括用于信号传输的中心导线和围绕的接地编织物。连接器安装到电缆端部以允许附连到螺纹金属接点端口,以在编织物与端口和中心导线和端口内的接点之间形成电连接。在CATV系统中,分接头安装在配电电缆上且同轴分接电缆从分接头延伸到各住户。分接电缆端部的连接器联接到配电电缆上分接头上的螺纹端口。
很难保持附连到螺纹端口的同轴电缆连接器的安全性。个人可未经批准从端口移除连接器。由于不适当地拧动端口上的连接器或由于乱动适当地附连到端口的同轴电缆会降低信号性能。
常规安全护罩防止乱动附连到分接头端口上的同轴电缆连接器。这些护罩被推到端口上并通过连接器保持在位。必须使用特定安装扳手来将连接器与护罩内的端口接合。
因此,需要一种用于安装在提供免受乱动保护的接点端口上、不需要特定工具也易于安装、且可安装在不同长度的端口上的同轴连接器组件。
发明内容
本发明是提供免受乱动保护的、易于安装、且可安装在不同长度的端口上的廉价的同轴电缆连接器组件。
同轴电缆连接器组件包括具有拧到接触端口上的螺母的电缆连接器、护罩和围绕电缆的防尘防潮罩。护罩可沿着电缆并在所述连接器上滑动以包括连接免受乱动。连接器上的护罩闭锁防止远离端口移动。可选的防尘防潮罩可安装在护罩的尾端上。如果需要,螺母可包括环形螺母密封件以形成螺母和端口之间的密封。
护罩具有由圆柱形外部护罩件围绕的圆柱形内部护罩件。内部护罩件包括锁定在同轴电缆连接器上多个保持表面之一上的一个或多个柔性指状物,以防止护罩从连接器被移除。
在连接器拧到端口上期间,护罩宽松地安装在远离电缆连接器的同轴电缆上。在连接器完全拧到端口上之后,护罩可沿着电缆移动,移动到连接器上以闭锁在连接器上的位置并抵靠抵靠支持粘贴的板。防尘防潮罩由柔性橡胶或塑料制成并附连到护罩的尾端以防止湿气和其它污染物进入护罩。对于室内使用,可以除去防尘防潮罩。

具体实施方式
同轴电缆组件10安装在分接头组件12上。分接头组件12包括螺纹同轴电缆安装端口14和支承该端口的端口板16。端口包括金属接点,用于与安装在分接头组件上的同轴电缆的中心导线形成电连接。
连接器组件10安装在同轴电缆18的一端并包括同轴电缆连接器20和围绕连接器的管状护罩22。电缆18包括中心导线和围绕导线的接地编织物。连接器20包括安装在同轴电缆18端部和与电缆中的编织物电连接的套管24和安装螺母26。
螺母26可旋转地安装在套管24的前端上并包括与端口14上的螺纹啮合的内螺纹(未示出)。电缆18中的中心线延伸到螺母以与端口14中的接点接合。螺母26包括围绕螺母隔开的多个平口工具接合表面28。工具可安装在表面28上以便于将螺母上紧在端口14上。螺母拧到端口上足够的距离以建立中心线和端口内接点之间以及螺母和螺纹端口之间的电连接。
环形密封件29安装在螺母26的前端上。密封件29由弹性橡胶材料制成并在螺母拧到端口上时形成与端口14的紧密封。该密封保护连接器内部免受潮湿和污染物。在6/25/04提交的No.10/876,386共同待审查的“Nut Seal Assemblyfor Coaxial Connector”美国专利申请中更完整地揭示了连接器20和密封件29,其全部内容以参见的方式纳入本文。
连接器组件10适于安装在具有不同长度螺纹端口14的分接头组件上。安装在端口14上时的密封件29的前端32和支承端口的板16之间的距离30会根据端口的长度变化。
螺母26包括围绕螺母延伸并隔开短的轴向距离的两个周界锁定脊或环34和36。脊或环34和36位于表面28和螺母的前端32之间。每个脊限定面向前端32的闭锁保持表面38。表面38隔开轴向距离66。
管状护罩22具有在护罩的前端和尾端之间延伸的大致管状本体23。护罩22包括被管状金属外部护罩件42围绕的管状金属内部护罩件40。内部件40由如图2所示的金属片预成形件44卷成。预成形件包括扁平的矩形金属片本体46,金属片本体46具有相对的侧边缘48、前缘50和尾缘52。从本体46切割两对柔性闭锁指状物54、56。每个指状物54,56包括相对的侧边缘58、尾端或闭锁表面60以及与本体46的其余部分一体的前端62。从本体46切出侧边缘58和闭锁端60。内部护罩件40通过将预成形件44卷成具有彼此毗邻的边缘48的管道而制成。柔性指状物54和56弯曲到管道内部,使得闭锁端60从前缘50延伸离开。

指状物54,56弯曲到管状件40的内部,使得每对指状物54,56的闭锁端60与横跨构件40隔开的距离小于脊或环34和36的直径。指状物54和指状物56在构件40上定位成彼此跨越180度。
坚固的无接缝金属外部管状构件42围绕内部管状内部构件40紧密安装,且具有的轴向长度大于内部构件40的长度,使得前端和尾端68和70延伸超过内部构件的端部。端部68和70径向向内形成以叠在内部构件的端部上。如果需要,端部68和70可径向向内经过内部构件的端部,如图1所示。
在将连接器拧到端口14上之前,管状护罩22宽松地安装在邻近同轴电缆连接器20的电缆18上。防尘防潮罩72安装在电缆上以联接到护罩22的尾端以在电缆和护罩的尾端之间形成密封条。防尘防潮罩72具有管状形状并紧密地包围电缆18。防尘防潮罩在其前端包括圆周闭锁凹槽74。外部护罩件42的尾端70安装在凹槽74内以形成防尘防潮罩和管状护罩22之间的密封。防尘防潮罩和电缆18之间的滑动配合允许防尘防潮罩沿着电缆18自由移动。
现将描述同轴电缆10在从分接头板16延伸的螺纹端口14上的安装。组件10如图1所示设置,使得安装螺母26设置在从端口端部向外的短的距离,且该组件与端口轴向对齐。然后螺母移动到与端口接合并旋转以将螺母拧到端口上直到螺母手工拧紧。然后使用常规拧紧工具、诸如与表面28接合的端部扳手将螺母完全拧紧到端口上。构件29密封抵靠端口。
接下来,与防尘防潮罩72接合或未接合的护罩22,沿电缆、在同轴电缆连接器20上并朝向板16轴向移动。在护罩朝向板16移动过程中,闭锁指状物54,56沿着螺母26朝向板移动。前指状物56的闭锁端60移动经过尾脊36。该脊使指状物径向向外朝向护罩件40弹性弯曲。在指状物穿过脊之后,它们很快恢复或闭锁在脊36的保持表面38之后。护罩朝向板36的进一步移动可使指状物54经过脊36,使得指状物54的端部60迅速恢复或闭锁在脊的表面38之后。管状护罩朝向板16的继续移动可使指状物54和56超过脊34,使得指状物的端部经过脊34并迅速恢复或闭锁抵靠脊34的表面38。
两脊和两组指状物沿连接器组件轴向隔开以提供护罩到螺母上的闭锁,使得外部护罩件的前端抵靠或紧密靠近板16,与端口14的长度和端口上螺母的位置无关。螺母上两轴向隔开的闭锁保持表面38和管状护罩上轴向隔开的指状物便于护罩到同轴电缆连接器上的手工闭锁。
如果需要,连接器组件可包括螺母上的单个闭锁保持表面和护罩上的两个或多个闭锁指状物。组件10可包括螺母上的多个闭锁保持表面和护罩上的单个闭锁指状物。在护罩22与螺母26接合后,防尘防潮罩72可接合到尾端70上。闭锁保持表面位于螺母26和套管24之间。
如果需要,可使用工具将螺母26从端口14移除。工具可以是具有薄的、细长插槽的扳手,该插槽具有开口侧,允许护罩22和取出的防尘防潮罩72之间电缆18上插槽的安装。插槽沿着电缆延伸进护罩22并向前以与螺母22的表面24接合。扳手包括允许插槽从端口14手工旋转到螺母上的手柄。
当连接器组件10如上所述安装到分接头12上时,护罩保护同轴电缆连接器20免受未经批准的乱动。通过旋转护罩22试图将同轴电缆连接器从端口松开不会旋转螺母。相反,将护罩在连接器上保持在位的护罩围绕接合表面24旋转而不松开螺母。无缝且无孔外部护罩件42完全围绕金属内部护罩件40以隐藏指状物切口76和毗邻侧边缘48处的接缝免受乱动。

Claims (8)

1.一种同轴电缆连接器组件,用于连接到从板延伸的设有螺纹的同轴电缆安装端口,所述同轴电缆连接器组件包括:
同轴电缆连接器,具有外部连接器表面,所述外部连接器表面上具有第一闭锁保持部分;并包括安装在所述同轴电缆连接器外的管状护罩,当所述同轴电缆连接器组件连接到所述同轴电缆安装端口时,所述护罩的前端抵靠或紧邻所述板,所述护罩具有外部护罩表面、内部护罩部分、以及第一闭锁件,该第一闭锁件从所述内部护罩部分朝向所述连接器延伸,以与所述同轴电缆连接器上的所述闭锁保持部分闭锁接合。
2.如权利要求1所述的同轴电缆连接器组件,其特征在于,所述闭锁保持部分围绕所述连接器延伸,使得所述护罩可围绕所述连接器旋转。
3.如权利要求2所述的同轴电缆连接器组件,其特征在于,所述护罩包括金属本体,所述金属本体包括与所述金属本体一体形成的指状物。
4.如权利要求1所述的同轴电缆连接器组件,其特征在于,所述连接器包括工具接合表面和套管,所述工具接合表面位于所述闭锁保持部分和所述套管之间。
5.如权利要求1所述的同轴电缆连接器组件,其特征在于,所述护罩包括与所述第一闭锁件轴向隔开的第二闭锁件。
6.如权利要求1所述的同轴电缆连接器组件,其特征在于,所述连接器包括与所述第一闭锁保持部分轴向隔开的第二闭锁保持部分。
7.一种将同轴电缆连接器组件安装到设有螺纹的同轴电缆端口上的方法,包括以下步骤:
(a)提供从一板延伸的设有螺纹的同轴电缆安装端口;
(b)提供固定到同轴电缆并包括可旋转螺母的同轴电缆连接器;
(c)提供在远离所述同轴电缆连接器的所述电缆上的管状同轴电缆连接器护罩;
(d)将所述螺母旋转到所述端口上以形成所述同轴电缆连接器和所述端口之间的连接;以及
(e)移动所述护罩朝向所述端口并移到所述同轴电缆连接器上,以将所述护罩设置成围绕所述同轴电缆连接器,使得所述护罩的前端抵靠或紧邻所述板,并形成所述护罩和所述同轴电缆连接器之间的闭锁连接以防止所述护罩远离所述板的运动。
8.如权利要求7所述的方法,其特征在于,包括以下步骤:
(f)根据所述同轴电缆连接器的前端和所述板之间的距离将所述护罩定位在相对于所述同轴电缆连接器的多个闭锁位置之一。
