en ouvrant 1e,4 robinets D' et D-. Cette ad mission d'air tend à mettre la bande d'en veloppe A sous tension et à la presser contre les lèvres B;

Envelope strip and the upper plate is secured to the plate of a press, while the lower plate is carried by a C sheep.
The outer edge B of each recess has a lip which bears against the outer face of the envelope strip at the point where the bead meets the nth body of the strip: the section of the lip corresponds to said part of the outer face of the bead.
A tube D is used to bring air under pressure in the chamber 1 formed t) by the plates B B1 and the casing strip 3.
This tube is provided with an adjustment valve D = beyond which there are three connections: d, dl, d =. Connection d can be connected via tap D: 'with a power supply device (air-pressurized, not shown in the drawing.
The connection dl can communicate via a valve D 'with an air tank D' intended to supply additional air. Connection d = is used to discharge a pressurized fluid using a valve D.
A central block l ', resting on the plate B1, advantageously made of cast iron with it, is surrounded by the extensible retaining ring F having a solution (the continuity and formed by U-section segments articulated end to end. end by pins r '(fig. 3, 5, 6, 7). The channel formed on the segments of the ring is turned towards the center. The segments cooperate at the ends F1 (fig. 6 and 7). The pin F \ is disposed towards the inner edges of the ring.
On either side of each pin F \ and inside the channel formed on the segments are arranged the springs G and Gl. One of the ends of the spring G is connected to. a piece in the form of an ear G- fixed to the segment which can be seen on the left of FIG. 7 and the other end (the nth spring is connected to an ear G \ fixed to the line segment of the nth figure.
One end of the spring G 'is connected to an ear Gl fixed to the right segment, while its other end is connected to an ear G' fixed to the segment (the left. The ears G- and GI are placed externally to the articulation pin F ', so that the springs constantly tend to bring the segments into the position shown in Figs. 6 and 6.
In this position, the ring is completely. open and the two segments whose two ends are not assembled: present (the flat faces which allow them to abut one against the other.

And it is prevented (taking its circular shape thanks to a pin FI disposed on the internal end segment and which penetrates into a hole drilled in the side (the block. The outer end of the ring is retained by a pin F '(it engages in a hole in the outer end segment.
This spindle is carried by a lever F articulated to the block eir F 'and the free end F * of which protrudes above the block when the spindle F' = is engaged with. the ring.
Operation (this device is as follows: When the envelope band: 1 has been placed between the plates B B '. the plate B' is advanced under the action of chi sheep C towards plate B, at the same time that we put (the air under pressure (firing tank D '.
by opening 1e, 4 taps D 'and D-. This admission of air tends to put the band of envelope A under tension and to press it against the lips B;
(the plates B l ', so as to determine a hermetic seal. As a result of the advancement (the plate B' towards the plate B. the pressure (the air is still increased in the chamber formed by the plates and the envelope band, and.
the central part of the latter is pushed back, which makes it possible to obtain the desired conformation. When plate B reaches the limit of its movement and when the envelope .4 is fully tensioned, the free end (read lever F 'for the extensible ring,
(it is niaintained-contracted so far, comes into contact.with plate 13. I lever oscillates around evening joint F 'and the- spindle /' - (the other end is released from ring F. This ring is thus released and immediately relaxes under
the action of , springs to take the circular shape shown in fig. 5 and fill the annular cavity obtained by the conformation (the central part of the envelope strip; the outer edges of the segments abut against each other which limits the extension (the l ' airneau. The ends (the ring are then separated one (the other. as seen in F.
Then close the valve h \ and open the valve D '' to lower the pressure. When the air pressure ceases to be exerted, the casing strip narrows and causes the ends of the ring to abut one against the other which then constitutes a rigid support inside the, envelope tape.
After having then separated the plates from each other, the casing formed with the ring is removed to finally vulcanize it.
It won't always be necessary. for bandages (the large section, to admit pressurized air in, the chamber formed between the plates, because the relative displacement (the latter being greater, due for bandages (the smaller section, the movement of the plates towards each other brings together sufficient pressure in the chamber to obtain a tight seal.
This pressure then increases sufficiently during the fi nal approximation of the plates to achieve the desired tension without it being necessary to use an initial pressure. It is possible to: provide a safety valve to allow the release of air in the event of excessive pressure.
When it comes to small bandages, we can first admit the air said reservoir D 'during the movement (the plate B' as has been described. And then we can close Turn off tap D 'and open favorite tap D' 'to admit high pressure air into chamber D'.
When the wrapping strip has taken its shape and the valve D "has been closed, the valve D can be opened again to admit air under pressure from the chamber D to the reservoir D5, (the way to save compressed air, but as soon as the equilibrium is established, the valve D 'is closed and the evacuation valve D "is opened.
The tap D- serves to isolate the tube D while loading it from the reservoir D 'through the tap D ".
When the casing strip includes a ott several layers of twill fabrics, it. Small to be advantageous in the case of envelopes (the dimension graifes (the ilair ner ner one of the plates relative. to the other to equalize the tension exerted on the threads.
For this purpose, the plate B 'is arranged so that it can be moved circularly on the sheep C using a lever 1>'. When the strip (the envelope has taken its shape, the angular position of the threads which pass from edge to edge is slightly modified as a result of the circular movement of the plate 13. '.
It may be preferable to create, from the start, a watertight seal between the close-together plates (the other and the edges of the casing strip, (lay it on the rings of elastic gasket in the recesses of the plates.
In the wire-. 8 to 10, showing an embodiment of this kind, H designates one of the two plates having an opening H1 intended to receive one (the edges (the the strip (the envelope. The. Lip) against which must carry the bead (the said strip, consists of a rigid ring H 'fixed to the face of the plate.
Between the plate and this ring, is arranged an elastic gasket ring J having the cross section that the wire shows. 8, and doing. protrusion into the recess. Hl.
In fig. 9, one (the edges (the envelope band K is shown in the position it occupies before the coniniencenrent of the power-up. The ring J rests against the side of the outer face chi bourrelet Kl of the band K drri is the closest.
As a result of the pressure of the fluid, the casing strip forces itself vigorously against the ring J and the air which penetrates around it tends to press it against the ring. ; we realize (the this lesson, all around (the wraps. a really. effective joint.
(sum it emerges. (the la fi-. 1O, the free edge of the ring Hl follows the bead K1 of the envelope strip which pivots during the tensioning of the strip, that is to say under the action of the pressurized air, in its movement so that the hermeticity of the joint in this place is maintained until the bead is.
applied with force sLiffisam- ruent against the rigid ring H1 'to form a suitable seal therewith.
The bead represented by FIGS. 1. \? and. 8 and 10 est. intended to be engaged in the edge to groove of a wheel rim, while in the example (fig. 11 to 13, the lug relet L (.the casing strip is. a relet lug to rod.
In these latter figures, .lI designates the ring of elastic liner of L-section, placed in the recess NI of the plate N, and the bead. door against this ring (the garnitrrrc- throughout the operation, pivoting on the edge of this ring as shown in fig. 1? and 13.
It is obvious that one can use any other form of packing, the two types represented having. been chosen at. example titles for two models though. known to bulges.
Dan. the device described, the external faces (the edges of the casing strip are always in contact with the edges of the recesses of the plates, (the way that, not only, these edges are held in the desired position, but that they cannot in any way be energized, even when the construction of these edges allows it.
The use of the retaining ring makes it possible to vulcanize the casing bands as they are (1st, without using the pneumatic tube for this, and since these retaining rings can be used almost in (leefirii- irlent,
this results in a cost-effective decrease in cost over devices in which an expensive and poorly durable pneumatic tube is employed to maintain the wrapping strip in shape during vulcanization.
() can. use different means to release the constriction lever from the retaining handle. Instead of being cleared inside the (the chamber by the displacement of the plate Bl,
this lever or any other means (the narrowing could be a.ctionn.é by members passing through a stuffing box formed on one of the plates.
The same could be done using various locking means to secure the two ends of the retaining ring F, replacing the pins Fl and F =. We could also construct the retaining ring itself. of various unexpected.,
the only essential condition being that it is likely to occupy a smaller surface than that between the envelope before being enlarged and to be able to relax to fit in the envelope band and keep it under tension after that it was put there.
Oit sees that the bandages formed by the implementations of the process which have just been described and. <Him consist in putting under tension the central part called baii (lage by the direct action of a pressurized fluid and maintain it in this state of tension for vulcanization using <RTI

the clif- lerent parts of the envelope, with the exception (its edges, being able to move by themselves conformation.
the retained chi arm can (eagerly be established in various ways. and. could, for example, appear in the form of a certain ttomhre (leeninettf @ moving radially under the action of the appropriate mechanism;
these Trojans are already known and commonly used coninie (collapsible formators and therefore need not be described in detail.
Whatever its shape, the ring (the retainer can be arranged to relax as the central part goes (the strap is tensioned, instead of being first r (; shrunk. then relaxed, when the band has been put completely tension bristles.
In the bandaacs with rods. it is not essential to obtain contact. ('filters the key edges of the recess plates and the bead to retain the edges against any radial extension, because, in reality. the parts (the casing strip which bear. against the lips may be flat, the rods themselves preventing excessive radial extension.
In practice, a slight leak (the fluid (the pressure by the seals formed between the casing strip and the plates. Is iniportanee. Obviously. One could obtain the desired pressure in the chamber (the pressure, by moving key one key two hluques and.
eti creating, if desired, empty space on the outside (the wrapping tape opl} e.
