Verfahren zur Herstellung von dünnen, aus Metallpulver und einein Zelluloseester bestehenden Bändern von Blattmetallcharakter, besonders für die Zigarettenindustrie. Gegenstand der vorliegenden Erfindung ist ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von dünnen, aus Netallpulver und einem Zelluloseester bestehenden Bändern von Blattmetalleharakter, besonders für die ZigarettenindListrie, welches darin besteht, dass man eine Lösung eines Zelluloseesters unter Zusatz von M,
etallpulver auf äusserst glatte, rotierende Unterlagen in äusserst dünner Schicht gleichmässig aufträgt und das eingetrocknete Häutchen in gleich mässigem Zuge dauernd von der rotierenden Unterlage abzieht.
Nach dem neuen Verfahren arbeitet man zum Beispiel in folgender Weise: Auf eine sehr dIatt polierte, innen schwach beheizte Walze aus Stahl, die sich in langsamer Um drehung befindet, trägt man durch geeignete Zuführungswalzen oder mit Hilfe einer Spritz- vorrichtung eine Mischung von<B>1</B> Teil Ace- tylzellulose mit<B>5-10</B> Teilen Bronzepulver und Aceton äusserst gleichmässig in dünner Schicht auf.
Die Mischung trocknet auf der Walze zu einem äusserst dünnen zusammen- hängenden Häutehen ein, welches bei genü gend schwachem Auftrag der Masse eine Diche von weit unter<B>0,05</B> nim besitzt.
Das Häutehen löst sich schi- leicht von der Walze ab und kann durch eine Aufwiekelvorrichtung, deren Abzugsgesehwindigheit und -stärl-,e man ki c möglichst gleichmässig gestalten muss, dauernd von der rotierenden 'Unterlage abgezogen und alifgewickelt werden.
Eine auf solche Weise gewonnene Rolle eines dünnen Zelluloseester und Metallbrenze enthaltenden Häutehens hann inan in beliebiger Länge herstellen.
Für die Zwecke der Zigarettenliidustrie teilt man sie in eine gi#;ii')ei-e Anzahl sehmälere, dem Um fange des Zigarettengoldmundstückes in der Breite entsprechenden Rollen, sogenannte Bobinen. Von diesen wird das dünne, schmale Goldband bei der Herstellung der Zigaretten der Zigaretteninaschine zugeführt.
Die auf diese Weise vergoldeten Zigarettenmundstücke haben den Vorteil, dass der Goldbelag bei grosser Deckkraft von so ausserordentlicher Feinheit ist, dass er von den Lippen des Rauchers nicht als Fremdkörper empfunden wird. Die Bronzeteilchen sind durch den Zelluloseester so vollkommen eingehüllt, dass sie der Oxydation durch die Atmosphäre viel weniger ausgesetzt sind, als dies bei dem Mundstückbelag aus geschlagenem Blattmetall der Fall ist.
Vor letzterem haben die neuen Belao-bänder auch den Vorteil, dass sie sich viel leichter verarbeiten lassen und infolge ihrer Festigkeit beim Einführen in die Ziga rettenmaschine niemals oder fast niemals zerreissen.

The cigarette mouthpieces gold-plated in this way have the advantage that the gold coating, with great opacity, is of such extraordinary fineness that it is not perceived as a foreign body by the smoker's lips. The bronze particles are so completely enveloped by the cellulose ester that they are much less exposed to oxidation by the atmosphere than is the case with the mouthpiece covering made of beaten leaf metal.
Before the latter, the new Belao straps also have the advantage that they are much easier to process and, due to their strength, never or almost never tear when inserted into the cigarette machine.
