Automatic mixing device for adding a secondary liquid to the main liquid circulating in a pressurized pipeline. For various industrial applications, it is often desirable and even necessary to be able to mix with titi main liquid, circulating in the pipeline under pressure, another liquid which will be called secondary liquid here.
In certain cases, it is a question in particular of being able to add the secondary liquid, in very small quantity, to the main liquid of the pipeline, for example, to city water, and this according to a determined dosage which is automatically maintained constant, even when the amount of flowing liquid varies as a result of the uneven speed with which it passes through the pipeline, under different flow conditions.
The automatic mixer apparatus, which is the subject of the invention, must meet these desiderata. It has the peculiarity that a secondary liquid container has two pipes connected to the pipe, on either side of the choke member which makes it possible to narrow to </ B> will the section of passage of the main liquid in this carnalization and thus create, in, the receptacle, above the secondary liquid contained therein a differential pressure transmitted by one of the tubing, the additional tubing, quickly (cause it titi backflow of secondary liquid into the main liquid, by means of a tube plunging to the bottom of the container, and exiting through the other tubing, the downstream tubing , through this stuffing,
the dosage of the mixture of the two liquids being determined by the degree of shrinkage produced by the aforementioned throttling member.
An embodiment of this device is shown, to by way of example, in vertical section, in the accompanying drawing.
This form of execution comprises a tubular part a being inserted in the pipe b of the main liquid under pressure and following , - which is connected, in bypass, by means of rc, one cylinder to two tubes e e ',
which contains the secondary liquid f i to be added to the main liquid and which can be filled through hole to screwed plug g. Between the two connections that join it to the aforementioned pipes, the tubular part ci is provided with a choke device shown here in the form of a threaded plug h screwed into a pipe i and penetrating inside the interior of the part has for narrow the more or less the passage section in j. A sealing cap k covers the tubing ê of the choke plug.
The upstream tubing e of the bottle cl is freely connected to part a by the connector c, while the neck of the downstream tubing is closed by a plug l which forms a plug for the passage of a plunging tube m, more yes less capillary, glass or other suitable material. This tube goes down into the bottle to the bottom of the latter and extends, above the stopper 1, to the axis of the tubular part where it ends with a curved spout u directed in the flow direction of the main liquid.
The operation of the apparatus described above is as follows: The main liquid under pressure passes through the lmlère pipe b in the direction of the arrows op with a speed proportional to the pressure and to the flow. By screwing, more or less, the choke plug h, the section of passage j is narrowed to the desired degree. By the fact of the flow, there then occurs, in the tubular part Ci, a pressure difference between the two connections connected to the pipes e P 'of the bottle.
The resulting differential pressure is then exerted above the secondary liquid f contained in the bottle and causes the discharge of this liquid through the spout n of the plunger tube w, into the tubular part a downstream of the choke plug h. The quantity of secondary liquid which leaves the nozzle tee, will depend both on the differential pressure created, upstream of the restrictor, by the narrowing of the passage j < / B> and the outlet section of this secondary liquid through tube m.
However, the differential pressure is determined by the pressure of the main liquid upstream of the choke plug and by the degree of throttling, that is to say by the two factors which also determine the quantity of main liquid flowing through the line.
We thus arrive at this conclusion that for a same section of the tube bringing in the secondary liquid, the proportion of the mixture of this liquid with the main liquid remains constant.
If it is assumed that the pressure upstream of the restrictor plug remains invariable, the dosage obtained in the mixture of the two liquids will depend solely on the degree of restriction produced by the plug @.
In practice, the quantity of secondary liquid which leaves the bottle d is gradually replaced by the main liquid.
In the above, it is assumed that the main liquid entering the bottle, tic does not mix with the secondary liquid therein, that is to say that the concentrate # - ,, tif_) n of the latter liquid remains constant (,.
When the possibility of such a mixture is to to be feared, it suffices to keep the two liquids separated in the bottle, by any suitable known device.
If it is necessary to successively add several secondary liquids to a main liquid, according to a dosage determined for each secondary liquid. it suffices to insert at suitable distances on the main liquid line as many devices as there are de secondary liquids to add and adjust the chokers accordingly.
It goes of of course that the choke plug h can be replaced by any other oi ,, - o, adjustable choke arie playing the same role.
