Description

Process for biting hides and skins. According to a known method employed heretofore, hides and skins are browned by means of a mixture of aniline colors with a primer solution composed of al bumina or blood. The bronze thus obtained on hides and skins has, as we know, the drawback of not being solid to light, to humidity and to friction. In addition, this bronze method could only be used for certain kinds of skin.

The present invention relates to a process for biting hides and skins, by the use of which the drawbacks listed above are avoided. This process comprises three distinct operations, namely: the impregnation of the leathers and skins with a tinc torial liquor, the application to the leather or the skin thus impregnated, after smoothing, with a polished coating to give them the shine. desired, and finally the final polishing operation.

The dye liquor used for the impregnation of hides and skins is obtained by dissolving approximately 35 parts of a mixture of fuchsin (rosaniline hydrochloride) and Paris violet in 500 parts of boiling alcohol, with the addition of a on the one hand, a solution of 20 parts of alcohol tannin in 450 parts of boiling alcohol and, on the other hand, 50 parts of nitrobenzene C'HJ (Az02) to increase the penetration of the dye.

As for the coating-polish, it is obtained by dissolving about 30 grams of a mixture of fuchsin (rosaniline hydrochloride) and Paris violet, in 500 cm3 of alcohol, bringing the whole to the boil, until complete dissolution, then adding to this solution about 30 grams of alcohol tannin, and boiling for 10 minutes, then adding about 50 grams of shellac blonde in scales, which is dissolve while boiling gently for 15 minutes, and finally bringing the whole to 1 liter, by adding alcohol.

The final polishing of hides and skins can be facilitated by the addition of 10'1 / o of amyl alcohol to the coating-polish, but this addition is not essential.

The shades of bronze will depend on the proportion of Paris violet added to the fuchsin, and we can thus obtain from the greenest to the most red.
