Darin zeigt:
<tb>Fig. 1<sep>in perspektivischer Ansicht ein erstes Ausführungsbeispiel einer Matratze nach der Erfindung;
The invention relates to a mattress, provided with a first layer, a second layer and a spring packet extending between these layers.
This type of mattress is known from practice. Such mattresses may be distributed in the longitudinal direction into a number of comfort zones each having a different spring characteristic, tuned to a body part to be assisted in use. For example, mattresses are known which are provided with a leg, hip and head shoulder zone. Thanks to these zones with different spring characteristics, the mattress can be optimally adapted in use to the anatomy of a user, so that the various zones more or less spring in where necessary.
As a result, the mattress completely engages the user's body and this body can be optimally supported.
The comfort zones are formed by applying springs with diverging spring stiffnesses in the longitudinal direction of the mattress. The use of different types of springs is logistically unfavorable, since for each type of spring a separate inventory management and separate procedures for, for example, the release and quality assurance necessary to get the different springs in the right quantities at the right moment in the right place ,
The invention aims to provide a mattress of the type described above, wherein said disadvantages are eliminated, while retaining their advantages.
For this purpose, a mattress according to the invention is characterized
at least one of the layers located on both sides of the spring assembly is provided with a contoured surface on a side facing the spring assembly. As a result, comfort zones can be realized in a simple manner in the mattress. This can be seen as follows. By providing the underlayer and / or topsheet with a contoured surface, the thickness of this layer will vary locally. This thickness affects the stiffness and spring characteristics of the layer in place. This stiffness and spring characteristic together with the spring characteristic of the spring package determine the overall spring characteristic of the mattress.
Therefore, by varying the thickness of one or both layers, comfort zones can be realized where the mattress is locally more or less stiff and will deflect more or less in use without the need for different types of springs.
Incidentally, the use of various types of springs is possible. The combination of a contoured lower and / or upper layer with different types of springs is therefore expressly excluded from the present invention.
Preferably, both layers are provided with a complementary contoured surface. As a result, a mattress with a normal, substantially rectangular exterior is obtained.
Such an exterior is not necessary for a good supportive effect of the mattress, but follows the expectations of a consumer. Moreover, the complementary layers can be cut from a rectangular block of stock material with virtually no loss of material, with the cut surface defining the contoured surfaces of the layers.
The or each contoured surface is preferably symmetrical about a central longitudinal plane of the mattress extending at right angles to the width direction and a median transverse plane extending at right angles to the longitudinal direction.
In this way, the mattress can be turned in the horizontal plane, the head and foot are changed without affecting the good effect of the mattress.
The or each contoured surface may have divergent shapes and dimensions. A waveform has the advantage of gradually merging the different zones, which benefits the overall comfort.
In a more advantageous elaboration channels or grooves may be provided in the layers. Such channels or grooves may extend in the width direction and / or the longitudinal direction and cause the layer to bend easily in place.
The channels or grooves may also contribute to the ventilation and moisture regulation of the mattress.
In the further dependent claims closer advantageous embodiments of a mattress according to the invention are described.
To illustrate the invention, embodiments of a mattress according to the invention will be described with reference to the drawing. It shows:
<Tb> FIG. 1 <sep> in perspective view a first embodiment of a mattress according to the invention;
<Tb> FIG. 2 <sep> in longitudinal section a block of starting material for the production of a contoured lower and upper layer for a mattress according to the invention; and
<Tb> FIG. 3 <sep> in perspective view a second embodiment of a mattress according to the invention.
In this description, the same or corresponding parts have the same or corresponding reference numerals.
The mattress indicated in Fig. 1 by reference numeral 1 comprises a first layer 2, a second layer 3 and a recorded between these layers 2, 3 spring packet 5. The spring package 5 comprises a number arranged in a matrix coil springs 6, which together are connected to a coherent spring package 5. Such spring assemblies 5 are known enough.
In this case, the springs 6 in use, depending on the manner in which they are connected to each other, are pressed in groups or independently.
The layers 2, 3 are made of an elastic material, in particular of a foamed material, such as foam rubber or latex rubber or foam plastic, such as polyurethane, Bultex <(RTM)>, Framefoam <(RTM)> etc. As a result, each layer 2, 3, just like the intermediate spring assembly 5, has a certain rigidity and spring characteristic. This stiffness and spring characteristic is dependent inter alia on the thickness d2, d3 of the layers 2, 3.
Both layers 2, 3 are provided on a side adjacent to the spring package 5 side with a contoured surface 7, 8.
In the exemplary embodiment shown, both contoured surfaces 7, 8 have a complementary, wavy course. As a result of this corrugated course, the layer thickness d2, d3 and consequently also the stiffness and spring characteristic of the lower and upper layers 2, 3 vary, at least in the longitudinal direction of the mattress 1. The contoured surfaces 7, 8 thus provide comfort zones with different stiffnesses and spring characteristics.
Thus, the mattress 1 shown in FIG. 1 has five comfort zones I-V, formed by three wave peaks T and two wave troughs D located therebetween of the lower layer 2 and the wave troughs and peaks of the upper layer 3 complementary thereto.
It will be clear that the number of comfort zones as well as the location, dimensions and spring characteristics of these zones can be easily adapted to the anatomy of a user or category of users by changing the shape of the contoured surfaces 7, 8.
For example, the location of the zones may be adjusted to the length of an average category of users and the feather characteristic of the various zones may be tuned to particular weight classes of users by changing the relationship between the height of the peaks T and the depth of the valleys D. and / or both layers 2, 3 made of a different material. The user can thus always be optimally supported over his entire deck surface.
The contoured surfaces 7, 8 have in the example shown over substantially the entire width of the mattress 1 a uniform course, whereby the comfort zones formed I-V across the width of the mattress 1 have constant spring and stiffness properties.
However, it will be clear that the contoured surfaces 7, 8 may extend alongside or instead of in the longitudinal direction also in the width direction of the mattress 1. Further, the contours may have a different shape, for example, triangular or block-shaped. Also combinations of the various forms are possible. For example, wavy parts with flat parts can be alternated. The corrugated shape shown offers the advantage that the transitions between the successive comfort zones thereby progress gradually.
Moreover, in the embodiment shown, the springs 6 can be arranged between the contoured layers 2, 3 in such a way that these springs 6 are stressed in use substantially in their longitudinal direction (ie pressure) and only to a minimal extent on thrust, which is the mechanical life the springs 6 benefits.
The contours preferably extend symmetrically to a median transverse plane Y, at right angles to the longitudinal direction of the mattress. 1
As a result, the mattress 1 is reversible in the horizontal plane and can be changed head and foot end, without affecting the good supporting effect of the mattress 1.
If the contoured surfaces 7, 8 extend only in one direction and are complementary to each other, as shown in Fig. 1, the lower and upper layers 2, 3 can be prepared in a simple and economical manner from a block-shaped piece of starting material 10th as shown in Fig. 2. Block 10 is separated into two halves 2, 3 by means of a contour wire (not shown) along a contoured cut surface 11. As a result, two halves 2, 3 are obtained, each with a contoured surface 7, 8 determined by the cut surface 11. The halves 2, 3 can then serve as a lower layer 2 and upper layer 3 of a mattress.
Also halves 2, 3 of different blocks can be combined starting material 10, which in a particularly simple manner, a large variety of mattresses 1 can be made with diverging spring characteristics. Thanks to the complementary shape of the lower and upper layers 2, 3, in principle, all starting material 10 can be used, so that no or hardly any residual waste arises during the production. Incidentally, it will be clear that with doubly curved surfaces 7, 8 in which the contour extends in two directions, more complicated manufacturing techniques are necessary. In this case, the various layers 2, 3 can be foamed, for example, in a die.
Fig. 3 shows a second embodiment of a mattress 1 according to the invention, wherein only the lower layer 2 is provided with a corrugated surface 6.
On this corrugated lower layer 2, the spring assembly 5 and a cover layer 12 are successively arranged. The cover layer 12 has no contoured surface and a relatively small layer thickness ds. In addition, in the spring pack 5 side facing away from grooves 15 are arranged, both in the longitudinal and in the width direction. These grooves 15 ensure that the cover layer 12 bend smoothly and can follow the contour of the lower layers (lower layer 2 and spring package 5), so that a mattress 1 with a corrugated lying surface has been obtained.
The spring pack 5 has over the entire deck surface of the mattress 1 a uniform spring stiffness. Also, the cover layer 12 has the one uniform spring characteristic because of their uniform thickness.
In use, the spring pack with the cover layer 12 will compress further under load by relatively heavy body parts than under load by lighter parts. By now designing the contoured surface 6 of the backsheet 2 such that the peaks T of the waves will, in use, extend under the comparatively heavy body parts of a user and the valleys D under the lighter body parts, the different degree of compression will be achieved various body parts are at least partially leveled. By a proper coordination of the shape and the spring stiffnesses, a user, in particular his spine, can thus always be supported in an optimal position.
The invention is by no means limited to the embodiments shown in the description and the drawing.
Many variations are possible within the scope of the invention described in the claims.
Thus, in the embodiments shown different spring assemblies can be applied, wherein the springs are made for example of a continuous wire or connected to each other via steel wires or individually packed in a shell and connected to each other via these cases.
Further, in the lower and / or upper layer 2, 3 channels can be arranged. Such channels may extend in the width and / or longitudinal direction of the mattress 1 and thus require the flexibility of the layers, in a manner comparable to the grooves 15 in FIG. 3.
Wherever a relatively large bend is desired or expected, additional material can be removed by increasing the number of channels and / or the cross section in place. In addition, the channels require the ventilation and moisture regulation of the mattress 1. With this purpose, the channels can also be arranged substantially perpendicular to the lying surface in the mattress 1.
The mattresses 1 shown may be covered with a cover. Between the cover and the lower layer 2 and / or the upper layer 3 further, known per se end layers can be included, made of, for example, support or cold foam.
These and many variations are intended to be within the scope of the invention as described in the following claims.
