The invention relates to a sealing device for the external sealing of a collet chuck of a machine tool with inserted collet and with a superior sealing disc, which has in its the tool shank facing cylindrical surface an annular circumferential groove and an elastic sealing body arranged in the same.
It is known, for this purpose, to provide a clamping nut with a sealing washer which seals the front, i. the side facing away from the machine, the clamping nut closes outwards. Such gaskets usually have in the tool shaft facing the cylindrical surface of the implementation of an annular groove in which an O-ring is arranged. The O-ring is dimensioned so that it rests elastically on the tool shank and closes the annular gap between it and the sealing washer. The tightness results mainly due to the elasticity of the O-ring.
At higher internal pressure of the cooling medium, the tightness is not always guaranteed safe, especially if the elasticity and the surface of the O-ring are impaired after prolonged use.
The invention has for its object to provide a sealing device that can withstand higher internal pressure better.
According to the invention, this is achieved in that the width and depth of the groove located in the surface of the sealing disk facing the tool shank are greater than the diameter of the elastic sealing body such that the sealing body is axially movable in the groove. The sealing body is preferably an O-ring.
In the following, a preferred embodiment of the invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings. 1 shows a clamping device with a clamping nut with a sealing washer in section; 2a, 2b an enlarged detail of the implementation of the sealing disc and Fig. 3a, 3b a corresponding detail representation with a representation of the pressurization.
The clamping device for a tool shank 1 shown in Fig. 1 consists of a collet holder 2, an inserted collet 3 and a clamping nut 4. The clamping nut 4 is provided with a from behind, i. provided from the machine side, frontally positioned sealing washer 5 is provided. The sealing disc 5 has a passage for the tool shank and in the tool shank 1 facing cylindrical surface 6 an annular circumferential groove 7, in which an O-ring 8 is arranged. By the arrows 9, the flow direction of the cooling medium in the slots of the collet 3 and in the bore of the tool shank 1 is shown.
In contrast to the usual grooves for O-rings, the groove 7 in the present case is wider and deeper than the diameter of the O-ring 8, so that it is axially displaceable in the groove. This is apparent from Fig. 2: in Fig. 2a, the O-ring 8 is in the axial direction in the middle of the groove 7, so that it would have no sealing function in this position per se.
In Fig. 2b, the O-ring is axially displaced and abuts against a side wall of the groove. In this position, the implementation is tight, especially when the O-ring 8 is pressed by the pressure of the cooling medium against the side wall of the groove and at the same time against the tool shank 1. This is shown in Fig. 3 where the arrows 10 indicate the internal pressure. Fig. 3a shows a situation in which a tool shank with a smaller diameter is used. In Fig. 3b, a tool shank is used with a larger diameter, in which the gap between the shaft and the implementation of the sealing washer is narrower. This adaptation to different thickness tool shanks is better ensured with the inventive solution than with the conventional solution.
According to another proposal, instead of the clamping nut and the collet can be provided with a sealing washer. For such a sealing washer, the solution according to the invention is equally suitable.
