Fig. 3 einen Schnitt durch eine erfindungsgemässe Vorschubwalze.
The invention relates to a feed roller for the transport of workpieces made of wood or wood-like materials, with teeth distributed over the circumference and over at least part of the width of the roller body 3. Such feed rollers are preferably used in woodworking machines or in wood handling machines and serve these machines feed the workpieces to be machined on a support table and transport them through the machines. The feed rollers are pressed against the workpiece and rotate at the same time. The teeth 3 engage in the surface of the workpieces and thereby push them forward.
The problem here is that the feed force that can be transmitted to the workpiece depends on the depth of penetration of the teeth 3 into the workpiece. If the depth of penetration is too small, a chip is worked out from the surface of the workpiece and the feed stops. The penetration depth depends strongly on the contact pressure. This contact pressure creates a frictional resistance on the counter surface of the base which is greater the greater the contact pressure of the feed rollers. Furthermore, the wedge angle beta, the tooth shape and the hardness of the material influence the depth of penetration.
Conventional feed rollers W1 have a toothing in which, as shown in FIG. 1, the leading tooth flank coincides with the central plane and in which the trailing tooth flank forms a wedge angle of 60 °. With this type of teeth, the necessary contact pressure is particularly high in order to generate sufficient penetration depth.
European Patent No. 0 273 172 B proposes a transport roller W2 (FIG. 2) with a special tooth profile. According to this patent specification, the teeth 3 have a thickened area which has a stop surface A, which adjoins the end face of the teeth transversely, to limit the depth of penetration of the teeth into the workpiece H, as shown in FIG. 2.
This profile has four disadvantages:
1. It is not possible to increase the penetration depth in soft wood in order to transfer more feed force to the workpiece.
2. The contact pressure must always be adjusted to the hardness of the wood, since the depth of penetration does not regulate itself.
3. It is often used with an unnecessarily large contact pressure because the residual force is transferred to the workpiece via the stop surface.
4. The chip space is reduced by the stop surface, so that the roller can "plug". In this way, a "slip" is facilitated and the constipation creates an uncontrolled counterforce.
The object of the invention is to overcome the disadvantages described above and to ensure safe transport of the workpiece with an optimal contact pressure in each case by appropriate design of the teeth 3 of the roller body. It solves this problem by the features of claim 1.
This design of the tooth profile regulates the depth of penetration at low contact pressure depending on the hardness of the workpieces, without this force having to be readjusted again and again.
In addition to the known tooth profiles mentioned, various profiles according to the invention are shown schematically in the drawing. Show it:
Fig. 3 shows a section through an inventive feed roller.
Fig. 4 shows a tooth profile with a continuously increasing wedge angle.
Fig. 5 is a tooth profile, the trailing tooth flank is composed of flat surface sections and thereby the wedge angle increases gradually.
Fig. 6 shows a tooth profile, the two flanks of which have curved surfaces and thereby has a continuously increasing wedge angle beta.
In Fig. 3 with W3 the feed roller, H the wooden workpiece, 4 the leading and 6 the trailing tooth flank, while 5 indicates the central plane. F denotes the root circle, S the tip circle of the teeth and SR the chip space. 3 denotes the actual tooth.
As shown in Fig. 4 in more detail, the leading tooth flank 4 is formed by a flat surface which includes an angle alpha of about 18 ° to the central plane 5. The trailing tooth flank 6 is curved in such a way that the wedge angle beta at the tooth tip is 36 °, 10% of the tooth height h is 44 °, 20% of the tooth height h is 51 °, 30% of the tooth height h is 61 °, at 40% of the tooth height h is 74 DEG and increases continuously towards the bottom of the tooth or remains constant. The trailing flank 6 could also be curved along a circular line, so that the wedge angle beta increases continuously inwards. The wedge angle beta at the tooth tip is less than 40 °.
In the example according to FIG. 5, the trailing tooth flank 6 is composed of adjoining flat surface sections a-d, each of which corresponds to a larger wedge angle beta on the inside. As a result, the wedge angle beta increases gradually inwards.
FIG. 6 shows an example in which both tooth flanks 4, 6 consist of curved surfaces. These can be evenly or increasingly curved. In a special embodiment, the two flanks are curved symmetrically to the central plane 5, in other cases they can have a different curvature. As a result, the wedge angle beta increases continuously towards the inside.
The feed rollers described above have the advantage that, with different hardnesses of the workpieces, the same contact pressure can be used, which means that there is no constant adjustment, since the depth of penetration regulates itself thanks to the special tooth shape.
Furthermore, a large chip space SR (FIG. 3) remains free, which is not impaired by a stop surface A according to FIG. 2, and it is avoided that unnecessarily large contact pressure is used.
