Bei bekannten derartigen Reflektorleuchten, wie sie derzeit auf dem Markt sind, sind die Licht- und Luftaustrittsschlitze als einfache Ausnehmungen im Baldachin ausgestaltet und erstrecken sich parallel zu dessen Achse, bei Verwendung als Deckenleuchte also im Allgemeinen vertikal. Das bei diesen bekannten Reflektorleuchten aus den Licht- und Luftaustrittsschlitzen des Baldachins austretende Licht ist jedoch noch nicht optimal homogen; ausserdem ist die Kühlwirkung, die sich mit diesen Schlitzen erzielen lässt, noch verbesserungsfähig. Diese Ringrippen 6 dienen einem doppelten Zweck: Zum einen vergleichmässigen sie das aus den Austrittsfenstern 3 austretende, der Raumdecke benachbarte Licht, sodass insbesondere keine Blendwirkung auftreten kann. Durch die in der Montagestellung der Leuchte im Wesentlichen horizontale Ausrichtungsebene der Ringrippen 6 wird normalerweise ein direkter Blickkontakt in das Innere des Baldachins 2 vermieden. Zum zweiten dienen die Ringrippen 6 als Kühlrippen, die ebenfalls auf Grund ihrer horizontalen Ausrichtung eine gute Wärmeabstrahlung und Zirkulation der kühlenden Luft ermöglichen.
