Die offenbarten Stabilisatoren, u.a.

The invention relates to a carburetor fuel for internal combustion engines according to the preamble of claim 1, as well as a method and a fuel additive for its production.
Carburetor fuels for internal combustion engines must have a certain knock resistance depending on the compression ratio in the internal combustion engine. Knock resistance can be increased by knock-resistant fuel components and / or additives known as anti-knock agents.
It is known to improve knock resistance by adding organometallic compounds. Lead alkyls such as lead tetraethyl or lead tetramethyl have proven to be the most effective as anti-knock agents. However, lead alkyls are increasingly withdrawn from the market due to their toxicity.
It is also known to use other metal compounds, for example iron compounds.
US Pat. No. 4,336,033 describes iron pentacarbonyl as an anti-knock agent, but because of its chemical instability it has not found any practical use, since "stabilizing" the iron pentacarbonyl with diketones, as described in WO 81/02307, leads to only one chemical reaction, after the end of which iron pentacarbonyl is no longer detectable.
GB-A 260 639 discloses that the decomposition of mixtures of iron pentacarbonyl and liquid hydrocarbons under the influence of light can be delayed and, if appropriate, prevented by adding stabilizers. The stabilizers disclosed, i.a. Iron acetylacetonate fall into two categories: one has the task of forming a protective colloid around the still decomposing iron pentacarbonyl and its precipitating decomposition products, the other has the task of slowing down the decomposition through light absorption. The addition of stabilizers in the range from 0.001 to 0.1% is disclosed: With such amounts, the iron pentacarbonyl is in no way sufficiently complexed to be stabilized against thermal decomposition.
As a result, the iron acetylacetonate is only used to filter out the proportion of light in the blue area thanks to its red color, i.e. absorb, so that this high-energy light component is no longer available for the decomposition of iron pentacarbonyl.
FR-A 1 312 371 discloses a leaded gasoline for internal combustion engines which, in order to increase the octane number, essentially contains diisopropyl ether and small amounts of organometallic additives, among others. Contains iron pentacarbonyl. A further increase is achieved by adding small amounts of other organic additives. The octane number only increases if the gasoline is highly leaded. The explanations disclosed focus essentially on the interaction of the additives with the diisopropyl ether. However, it can be seen from Table 1 of FR-A 1 312 371 that the decisive increase in the octane number is due to the fact that organometallic lead compounds are activated by small amounts of other metal compounds, the ratio of lead to the additional metal being approximately 10: 1.
The concentrations of the additional metal disclosed in FR-A 1 312 371 can only be effective in the specified small amounts because the main additive is lead alkyl, the action of which is stimulated by the additional metal.
EP-A 851 587 discloses the use of carbonyls of the metals Cr, Mn, Fe, Co and Ni, the instability of the carbonyls also being disadvantageous here.
As metal-free additives to increase knock resistance, ethers and mixtures of ethers and alcohols have been described, for example methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) together with C2-6 alcohols. To achieve a noticeable effect, however, concentrations of up to 15% by weight must be set in the gasoline. Apart from the increase in costs caused by the MTBE, this is also health-related, since the combustion of the MTBE produces the carcinogenic crotonaldehyde, which makes the use of MTBE as dangerous for humans as it is for organic lead compounds.
The object of the invention is therefore to overcome the disadvantages mentioned and to create a gasoline fuel of the type mentioned which has a high knock resistance and is comparatively non-toxic and essentially lead-free.
This object is achieved by the gasoline fuel defined in claim 1. Advantageous further developments of the carburetor fuel according to the invention, as well as a method for its production and a fuel additive as a means for its production, are defined in the dependent claims.
Accordingly, a gasifier fuel according to the invention contains at least one knock resistance-increasing organic compound which is selected from the group formed by ethers and alcohols, for example methyl tert-butyl ether and / or ethanol, and also iron acetylacetonate and iron pentacarbonyl present as a complex with the iron acetylacetonate, and preferably still acetylacetone.
Based on the gasifier fuel, the total content of knock resistance-increasing ether, preferably MTBE, and / or of knock resistance-increasing alcohol, preferably ethanol, is up to 10% by weight and preferably up to 5% by weight, the total content of complexed iron up to at 0.5 g / l and preferably up to 0.15 g / l, and the content of acetylacetone up to 0.1 g / l and preferably up to 0.0125 g / l.
A fuel additive for the production of the gasifier fuel according to the invention preferably contains iron acetylacetonate and iron pentacarbonyl present in a toluene solution as a complex with the iron acetylacetonate, and optionally as an additive acetylacetone and / or knock-resistant ether (s), in particular methyl tert-butyl ether.
The iron acetylacetonate is preferably used as an approximately 10% solution in toluene and introduced into the gasoline fuel.
Surprisingly, it has been found that the knock resistance-increasing ethers and / or alcohols multiply their action when small amounts of iron acetylacetonate and a complex of iron acetylacetonate and iron pentacarbonyl are added to them. When individually added to the gasoline fuel, each of the aforementioned components has a relatively small effect on increasing the octane number. On the other hand, the mixture of components in the gasoline does not act like an aggregation of the individual components, but like a combination of unexpectedly multiplied effects.
The optionally added iron pentacarbonyl is stabilized by complexing it with the iron acetylacetonate in toluene solution, while the iron acetylacetonate is in turn stabilized by the optionally added acetylacetone.
