Abstract
A mechanical or hydraulic brake (4-6) can be provided. It incorporates brake blocks acting on one or all of the wheels or rollers (2). The brake can be of the rim- or disc-type and the tyres can be with or without inner tubes. The sole of the shoe or boot is connected to a longitudinal beam (1). The sole of the shoe may be pivoted (8) at its mid-point. There is a coil spring (7) under the ball of the foot, which helps to tilt the foot back toward a pivoted bell-crank (6) under the heel. Pressing down on this lever pulls on a rod or wire (5) to apply the brake shoe or block on the rear wheel.
Description

The invention relates to the world-famous roller skating sport, in-line skating.
In-line skating is a roller skate in which 4-5 plastic or hard rubber rollers of 6-7 cm are mounted in a row on ball bearings on a chassis under the shoe. The forward movement is generally through the conventional skate step. Braking is carried out by a brake block mounted behind the rearmost roller, which is pressed against the road by the forward tilting of one roller skate.
The invention is based on the use of pneumatic tires. This requires a certain size of the rollers or wheels, so that they no longer find space under the shoe, but reduced to 2 pieces, 1 wheel each in front and behind the shoe. While the in-line system is ideal for acrobatics, roller hockey and short-distance runs, the small in-line castors do not provide sufficient driving comfort on long distances and on the not always smooth road. In addition, the wear on the rollers and ball bearings is considerable.
According to the invention, the pneumatic tires provide bicycle-like driving comfort and make this popular sport independent of a very smooth road surface. Wear of the tires and bearings remains within an acceptable range. Similar to the bicycle, a rim or disc brake can now be used.
The braking process is triggered by depressing the heel of the shoe with a roller skate slightly pushed forward. This has the effect that the necessary tractive force is transferred to the brake unit (4) via the toggle lever (6) and the cable or rod (5). In contrast to the in-line system described at the beginning, both rollers remain firmly on the road and thus ensure that the guidance is particularly important during the braking maneuver. The braking force to be applied is regulated by the adjustable tension spring (7).
Furthermore, the standing plane, which is kept low in relation to the center of the wheel, creates an advantageous balance effect on the individual roller skate.
Two options are shown below:
