Beschreibung description
The invention relates to an interface device according to the preamble of claim 1.
An interface is generally understood to mean a device which allows the interconnection of two independent devices for the purpose of a mutual interaction. A whole range of interfaces have been internationally standardized for telecommunications equipment, e.g. the interfaces V.21 and V.24.
Modems are also known which enable the interaction of spatially separated devices via a telecommunications network. Modems are assigned to analog technology. In digital networks, e.g. an ISDN network (Integrated Services Digital Network), they no longer have a task.
It is now the object of the invention to provide an interface device which enables the interaction of locally arranged data devices in a simple manner via a telecommunications network, in particular via an ISDN network.
The solution to this problem is given by the characterizing part of claim 1. The other claims specify embodiments of the invention.
Es zeigen: The invention is described in more detail below with reference to three figures, for example. Show it:
Fig. 1 - Schema einer Schnittstelleneinrichtung sowie angeschlossener Daten-Queilen/Senken Fig. 1 - Scheme of an interface device and connected data queues / sinks
Fig. 2 - Schematische Ansicht einer optischen Schnittstelle Fig. 2 - Schematic view of an optical interface
Fig. 3 - Konkrete Ausgestaltung einer Schnittstelleneinrichtung. Fig. 3 - Concrete design of an interface device.
Die Fig. 1 zeigt weiter ein Telekommunikationsnetz 11 mit wenigstens einer Zentrale 13. 1 shows the block diagram of an interface device with devices connected to this device, which are referred to below as data sources / sinks 14, 15. This expresses that these devices can deliver and / or receive data. 1 further shows a telecommunications network 11 with at least one center 13.
The interface device 10 comprises a base device 19 connected to the control center 13 via a connection line 18 and an associated hand-held device 20 of a cordless telephone. The base device 19 and the handheld device 20 are connected to one another via a radio link 21 in the case of a communication connection. The interface device 10 further comprises a mechanical holder 23, in which a preferably concave guide 27 is contained. The guide 27 is designed such that it can hold the hand-held device 20 and hold it in such a way that there is a spatially close contact between the two connection halves of an optical interface 25. Finally, the interface device 10 also comprises matching electronics 26 arranged in the holder 23, which acts as an electronic interface with respect to the one data source / sink 14, e.g. as a V.24 interface, and which effects the data connection from and to the optical interface 25.
As already mentioned, the two data sources / sinks 14, 15 are basically any devices which generate and / or receive data and which can be located anywhere in relation to the network 11 and which are suitable for common communication or data exchange. The following is mentioned as an example: The data source / sink 15 forms a central device which is located at a first location, for example in an office building, and comprises a computer unit and a printer. The data source / sink 14 is remotely located at a second location, for example in a private house, and is a personal computer PC. The distance between the first and the second point is bridged primarily by the telecommunications network 11. This network is e.g. an ISDN network (Integrated Services Digital Network) to which the central device 15 is connected by means of a line 16 and the base device 19 by means of a line 18. The base device 19 is further connected to the hand-held device 20 via a radio link 21 of limited range, at least in each case when a communication connection has been established. Finally, the personal computer 14 is connected via a connection line 17 and an electronic interface, e.g. a V.24 interface is connected to the handheld device 23.
The interface device 10 works e.g. as follows together with the two data sources / sinks 14, 15 or the personal computer 14 and the central device 15: If a data exchange between the two data sources / sinks 14, 15 is desired, the handheld device 20 uses standard number dialing Communication connection established between the handheld device 20 and the central device 15. As soon as this connection exists via the radio link 21 and the network 11, the hand-held device 20 is inserted into the guide 27 and the optical interface 25 is thus activated. This closes the data connection between the central device 15 and the personal computer 14 connected to the matching electronics 26. Furthermore, the terminals 14, 15 can communicate with one another as desired, i.e. Exchange commands, information and / or data in both directions.
Fig. 2 shows a schematic, sectional view of the optical interface 25. This interface comprises two interface halves 25.1, 25.2, which are formed by paired electro-optical and optoelectric converters, e.g. two laser diodes 31, 32 and two photo transistors 34, 35. The elements 31 and 35 are electrically connected to the electronic units 37 of the hand-held device 20, the elements 32, 34 correspondingly to the matching electronics 26 of the holder 23. The laser diode 31 and the photo transistor 35 of the Handheld device 20 are each assigned to a window 33 or 36 in the housing wall 30 of this device.
The windows 33, 36 are either designed as bores in the housing wall 33 or are

bevorzugt Wandbereiche, die für die verwendete Wellenlänge, bevorzugt für den Bereich des infraroten Lichts, gut durchlässig sind. preferably wall areas that are well transmissive for the wavelength used, preferably for the range of infrared light.
The laser diode 32 and the phototransistor 34 of the data source 23 protrude openly into the mechanical guide 27. In contrast, they are mounted, for example, on the surface of a printed circuit board 40 which forms a wall of this guide 27.
Overall, the mechanical guide 27 is designed such that it fixes the inserted or inserted hand-held device 20 in such a way that its interface half 25.2 comes into optimal operative contact with that 25.1 of the guide 27. This means that the elements 31, 32, 34, 35 face each other in pairs and only separated by the windows 33, 36. This can easily be done by means of limits, cams, etc.
Fig. 3 zeigt eine bevorzugte Ausgestaltung der Halterung 23. Fig. 3 shows a preferred embodiment of the holder 23. This has an inclined recess 51, in which the handheld device 20 can be inserted flat from above. The operating and display elements remain freely accessible. The optical interface 25 is preferably arranged on the lower stop surface 52 of the trough 51. This means that the first interface half 25.1 is placed on this surface 52 and the second interface half 25.2 on the lower end surface of the handheld device 20. The mechanical guidance is ensured by the side walls and the bottom of the trough 51, and the interface halves 25.1, 25.2 are held together securely by the pressure of the oblique hand-held device.
Instead of the cordless telephone mentioned, any digitally operating, manually manageable hand-held device can be used which can be connected to a general telecommunications network 11 via a radio link 21 of limited range. The main focus here is on mobile phones, e.g. of the Natel-D type. In the cases mentioned, the network 11 enables a virtually undisturbed connection of the two data sources / sinks 14, 15 over any distances which can range from continent to continent. Also suitable as suitable handheld devices 20 are portable radio devices which communicate exclusively with the central device 15 via a radio link 21, that is to say excluding a network 11. Here, however, there is a considerable restriction with regard to the local distances between the central device 15 and the holder 23.
The optical interface 25 forms a particularly suitable type of a contact-free, non-electrical operative connection between the handheld device 20 and the matching electronics 26 in the holder 23. In principle, however, any other non-electrical and, above all, contact-free, other interface can be used, e.g. an inductive interface.
Instead of the trough-shaped holder 23, an essentially tubular holder which is open at the top and into which the hand-held device 20 can be inserted from above can be used. Here, the optical interface 25 is advantageously arranged on the side of the handheld device 20 at the bottom.
The data source / sink 14 connected to the matching electronics 26, in the example mentioned the personal computer PC, must be equipped to interact with the matching electronics 26 in the sense of an electronic standard interface. The other data source / sink 15 can be connected directly to this network 11 in the case of a digital network. It is also possible to connect both data sources / sinks 14, 15 to the network 11 via cordless telephones. In this case, two interface devices 10 of the type described here are necessary. In the event that the telecommunications network 11 is an analog network, a modem must be inserted in each of the connecting lines 16 and 18.
Instead of the one or two pairs of laser diodes 31, 32 and phototransistors 34, 35 described, the optical interface 25 can also have more such pairs (e.g. four), which considerably simplifies the necessary operating protocol. Other electro-optical and opto-electrical elements are also possible, e.g. Photodiodes. The number of windows 33 can be reduced to one if the electro-optical and optoelectric elements are sufficiently decoupled by optical measures for beam guidance, e.g. through optical lenses.
The interface device 10 is activated by the respective dialing process, which can be carried out either by the handheld device 20 or by the data source / sink 15 connected directly to the network 11. This dialing process can either be done manually via the respective keypad or automatically, in the latter case e.g. also from the second data source / sink 14 via the line 17 and the matching electronics 26. Of course, the hand-held device 20 must have been inserted into the mechanical guide 27 beforehand.
The interface device 10 described is not limited to the variants described. Rather, there are a large number of other possibilities for changing the mechanical guide 27, the optical interface 25 together with the windows 33, 35 and the type of radio equipment used or adapting it to the special requirements.
The particular advantage of the interface devices 10 is that modified handheld devices 20 of cordless telephony in the manner described can be used for general data applications with little effort. In this case, data applications in the manner of modems can be implemented in a comparatively inexpensive manner, with distances not playing a role.
