Beschreibung description
The invention relates to a ceramic composite barrel for firearms according to the preamble of patent claim 1 and a method for its production according to claim 7.
In a known high-strength ceramic composite pipe (see German Offenlegungsschrift No. 2 821 595 A1), an outer pipe made of metal or ceramic material is shrunk onto a ceramic inner pipe.
Another known bullet tube for firearms (see German Patent No. 3 122 316 C2) contains a bullet track, the surface of which is made of ceramic, and a jacket tube, wherein a ceramic tube is used which is surrounded by this jacket tube under pressure prestress.
In a known process for the production of a protective coating having at least one ceramic layer (see German design specification No. 2 809 709 B1), a dissolvable molded part is first made in succession on the side
- eine Metallschicht und/oder eine Keramikschicht, sodann - A metal layer and / or a ceramic layer, then
- A further layer of metal is thermally sprayed on and the protective coating thus obtained with the last-mentioned metal layer, preferably before removal of the molded part, is brought into firm connection with a component surface to be protected by shrinking.
All of these known gun barrels are manufactured using the shrink process.
The object which is to be achieved with the present invention is to provide a weapon barrel with good high-temperature strength, good wear resistance, good corrosion resistance and good resistance to temperature changes. Furthermore, the gun barrel should have good mechanical strength, low brittleness and therefore high tensile strength, since high gas pressures arise in the barrel of gun barrels. In particular, the shrinking of an outer tube onto an inner tube is to be avoided since such shrinking methods are very complex if a reliable shrink connection is to be achieved.
According to the invention, this object is achieved by the characterizing features of claim 1.
In particular, a fiber-reinforced material is to be used and the fibers - as seen in the weft direction - should be inclined obliquely forward against the weapon barrel axis. A carbon fiber reinforced carbon (CFC) is preferably used as the material. Preferably, the weapon barrel consists of an inner and an outer layer, of which the inner layer is formed by a fiber band, which consists of fiber sections, the length of which corresponds to the bandwidth and which are connected to one another at one end, the fibers transverse to the longitudinal direction of the Band are arranged.
The method for producing the ceramic composite pipe has the features in the characterizing part of claim 7. In particular, a band is produced from fiber sections, the length of which corresponds to the bandwidth and which are connected to one another at one end, and this band is helically wound into a tube, so that the fiber sections are inclined with their free end obliquely forward against the weapon barrel axis.
Es zeigt: Individual exemplary embodiments of the ceramic composite pipe according to the invention are described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawing. It shows:

Fig. 8 shows a section through a gun barrel end with reinforcement.
1, the ceramic composite pipe 10 according to the invention has two layers 11 and 12. The outer layer 11 is reinforced by three fiber fabrics 13 formed from carbon fibers. The inner layer 12 is reinforced by a sliver 14. Such fiber tapes 14, or more precisely: such tapes 14 made of fiber sections 15 are shown purely for example in FIGS. 2 and 3. Both the fiber fabric 13 made of carbon fibers and the fiber ribbon 14 are embedded in a composite material made of carbon (pitch, pyrolytically treated), which fills the spaces between the individual fibers of the fabric and between the individual fibers of the ribbon 14. The entire weapon barrel 10 thus consists of a carbon fiber-reinforced carbon material, or as a foreign word: of a carbon fiber-reinforced carbon, abbreviated CFC, or generally of fiber-reinforced ceramic.
Bekanntlich hat Kohlenstoff im wesentlichen folgende Eigenschaften: As is well known, carbon essentially has the following properties:
- Kohlestoff, insbesondere in Form von Graphit, hat gute Gleiteigenschaften; - Carbon, especially in the form of graphite, has good sliding properties;
- Kohlestoff, insbesondere in Faserform, besitzt hohe Festigkeit, d.h. hier Zugfestigkeit; - Carbon, especially fiber, has high strength, i.e. here tensile strength;
- Carbon, especially as carbide, has a high hardness and is very heat-resistant.
Um den Anforderungen an ein Waffenrohr zu genügen, In view of these properties, carbon is suitable for the manufacture of gun barrels. To meet the requirements of a gun barrel,

According to the invention, a fiber-reinforced material is used, particular attention being paid to the suitable arrangement of the fibers in the weapon barrel. As can be seen from FIG. 1, the fiber sections are inclined obliquely forward against the weapon barrel axis 23. The direction of fire is indicated by an arrow A. This arrangement of the fibers improves the sliding properties of the weapon barrel inner wall. Very fine fibers are preferably used, with a cross section of, for example, 4 micrometers in diameter. The great stress placed on the weapon barrel by the gas pressure when a projectile is fired is absorbed by the outer layer - which is reinforced by a scrim.
With the described arrangement of the fibers in the inner layer of the gun barrel, a great bending stiffness of the gun barrel is also achieved. According to FIG. 2, the fiber sections 15 are connected to one another at their one end by a woven band 16. 3, the fiber sections can be glued together at one end by a group of longitudinal threads 17. 4, the fiber sliver 14 made from fiber sections 15 is wound helically on a mandrel 18, the pitch, for example, being chosen so that the fiber sliver is oriented at right angles to the swirl grooves of the weapon barrel. According to FIG. 5, swirl cams 24 are provided on the mandrel 18, by means of which corresponding swirl grooves are impressed on the inner wall of the weapon barrel 10 when the sliver 14 is wound onto the mandrel 18. 6, a double-wide band can be produced, which is then cut through in the middle. It is not necessary to use individual fiber sections. The fiber sections 15 are formed by a weft thread 19, which is woven at both edges with warp threads 20 to form a band 21 and then cut. 7, a wide fabric can also be produced, which is then cut into several bands 14. 8, the tube ends of the weapon barrel according to the invention are reinforced by a metal part 22. Such a reinforcement made of a metal part with an L-shaped cross section prevents damage to the relatively brittle weapon barrel by undesirable impacts during transport. Depending on the design of the dome, smooth tubes or swirl tubes with constant twist or with progressive twist can be produced.
