Parmi les réducteurs appropriés figurent les sulfites d'alcanolamine inférieure comme ceux de monoéthanol- amine et d'isopropanolamine et d'autres contenant jus qu'à8 atomes de carbone environ dans la chaîne alkyle comme les sulfites de propanol(n)-amine. de butano](n)- amine, de diméthylbutanolamine, de diméthylhexanol- amine, etc. ;
les formaldéhydesulfoxylates métalliques comme ceux de zinc et de métaux alcalins. par exemple de sodium; les hydruroborates métalliques comme ceux de sodium, de potassium, ou de sodium etde potassium: les sulfites alcalins comme les bisulfites, sulfites et méta- bisulfites de sodium et de potassium: le bisulfite d'am monium; le sulfure de sodium, l'hydrosulfure de sodium, l'hypophosphite de sodium, le thiosulfate de sodium, le dithionate de sodium;
The invention relates to a process for buffing a fabric containing keratin fibers, by pressing of the material followed of treatment of the stuff by steam and on empty.
In the Belgian patent W 617966, a method of buffing a woolen fabric is described, by pressing the fabric in a press to heated cylinder followed by treatment of the fabric with steam and vacuum. La- press used in this process is of the machine type to iron and has a single rotating cylinder, which is surrounded by two fixed semi-circular shoes. The fabric, driven by the rotary cylinder, is smoothed by the fixed shoes.
He has now been discovered that a significantly sharper and more durable luster is imparted to a fabric containing fibers of keratin when the fabric is pressed by passing it between the cylinders of a grille. before of treat it with steam and vacuum.
This calendering treatment, which produces an energetic pressure of the fabric without smoothing is fundamentally different from the treatment undergone by the fabric in the press to cylinder of the known process.
He it is understood that the fabric subjected to the treatment does not necessarily have to be entirely formed of keratin fibers but that it can be a mixture of keratin fibers and different fibers. When using a mixed fabric, it may contain less than 1000/0 but more than 35% of keratin fibers. the remainder being formed of artificial or natural fibers of different nature.
As types of keratin fibers which can be used, mention may be made, for example, of sheep's wool, lamb's wool, mohair, on hair of camel, alpaca, cashmere, on vicuna. llama, angora, etc.
In the preferred embodiment of the process according to the invention, the fabric is treated with a reducing agent before calendering, calendering is carried out under conditions insufficient to permanently fix all of the keratin fibers. , and we submit the calendered fabric to steam and vacuum sufficient to fix on rest of the fibers treated by the deductor. He is better than treatment with the steam and vacuum is of the type which is ensured by a complete decatification operation.
A fabric is thus obtained which has a luster of increased durability with respect to the effects of water, steam and cleaning. to dry. The reducing agent must be capable of breaking the characteristic cystine groups which the keratin fibers contain.
Suitable reducing agents include lower alkanolamine sulfites such as those of monoethanolamine and isopropanolamine and others containing up to 8 about carbon atoms in the alkyl chain such as propanol (n) -amine sulfites. butano] (n) - amine, dimethylbutanolamine, dimethylhexanolamine, etc. ;
metallic formaldehydesulfoxylates such as those of zinc and alkali metals. for example sodium ; metallic hydruroborates such as those of sodium, potassium, or sodium and of potassium : alkaline sulphites such as sodium and potassium bisulphites, sulphites and meta-sulphites : amium bisulfite ; sodium sulfide, sodium hydrosulfide, sodium hypophosphite, sodium thiosulfate, sodium dithionate ;
the titanous chlortire ; acid su] - furious, inercdPtoacids like Facide thioglycoliquc and its water-soluble salts such as those of sodium, of potassium and ammonium hydrogen sulfide :
alkYlinercaptans like 'on hutylinercaptail and ethylniercaptan, thio ,, zl \, collars such as -merc # iptoétiiinoi and mixtures of these #, RédLicteLjrs.
We often get results with av # in (aLetix and we use on reducing agent together with Linen compound- polyhydroxylated to low molecular weight or with Lin aeent auxiliary -onflard. Urea is 1 * # ti, auxiliary ent on # î_us accessible and most desirable, although we can use any other body (swells key keratin fibers in an aqueous medium.
For example we can use guanidine wedges like hydrochloride : la formamide, N.N-diniéth #, lforniiiiii (le, acétarnidc, tiliouée, on phenol, lithium salts such as, chlorine, bromide, iodide, etc.
By low molecular weight polyhydroxy compound is meant a compound containing more than one hydroxyl group and which has a molecular weight of not more than about 4000. Among these compounds,
on most accessible and most desirable from the point of view of the ease of application cation is ethylenegi # rcol. (in a particular preferred glycol group includes polyfunctional glycels carrying lerminal hydroxyl groups separated by 2-10 niet # ylene groups, of course coinimis ethylene glycol which is preferable.
as well as trimethleneL, Ivc #) 1. tetraniethylene LIcol, the arnethylene- glNcol link, hexaniethylene glycol and on decarnethylene or on propariedicil-1.2. dipropylene glycol. butanediol-13, dietylene, L ,, Iycol,
ethylene, lycol, etc.
Polyfunctional compounds containing more of 2 hydroxyl groups include polyalcohols such as glycerol, diethyl glycerol, on treated flivlolethane, I # - triniethylolbutane, on ti, i:
s- (Iivdt - () xyiiiéth # 'Izt'niino) -iiiétlit- ne, etc. Ethers (the glycol like pol. # 'Étlivlènegly- cols or polvpropylène-, Ivcols soluble or dispersible in water which have a molecular weight not exceeding 4000 approximately also give of satisfactory results when used according to the invention.
The reducing agent with or, swelling agent or polyhydroxylated compound can be applied to the fabric in any desired quantity. according to degree desired reduction.
In general, an optimal result is obtained when (in appli a I make up aqueous solutions containing approximately 0.01-204Vo by weight and preferably key 1-100, 'f, by weight approximately of reducer.
