Abstract

A vacuum filtration appts. is connected to a switching valve via two vacuum channels. One channel enters an annular chamber in the main body occupied by a piston which presses onto a filter membrane. A second channel enters a separate chamber in the centre of the main body. Underneath the body is an elastic sealing plug which has a spherical surface. Sample tubes are pressed against the sealing plug which surrounds an outlet tube. ADVANTAGE - Allows use of greatly differing filter attachments and collecting tubes both of which are easily attached to the main body without mechanical mean

Description

Fig. 1 das Filtrationsgerät als Ganzes, im Schnitt,
Fig. 1a den Gerätekörper im Schnitt und Draufsicht,
Fig. 2 den Mehrzweckanschlussstopfen im Schnitt und Draufsicht,
Fig. 3 und 4 andere Formen von Filteraufsätzen.

The invention relates to a vacuum filtration device which enables the use of a wide variety of fall arresters and filter attachments.

In the previously known vacuum filtration devices, which allow both the filtrate and the residue to be collected, either a screw cap with a sealing ring or the two parts are connected by means of a clamp for connecting the filter vessel to the device body and holding the filter membrane.

The connection procedure is usually time-consuming, the fixation of the membrane is rather uncertain. A connection to collecting vessels of different sizes is generally not possible, since either the vessel is directly connected to the device body or it is closed with a pin that fits into the opening of the vacuum vessel.

The object of the invention is to create a vacuum filtration device which, on the one hand, allows the filter attachment and the collecting vessel for the filtrate to be fixed on the device body without mechanical manipulations. Furthermore, it should be possible to use very different filter attachments and collecting vessels according to type and size.

The essential features of the subject matter of the invention emerge from patent claim 1.

Exemplary embodiments of the invention are explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing, in which:

1 the filtration device as a whole, in section,
1a the device body in section and top view,
2 the multi-purpose connector plug in section and top view,
3 and 4 other forms of filter attachments.

The vacuum filtration device shown in Fig. 1 consists of three main parts, namely:

   a. from the device body 14, which mainly consists of Teflon or chrome steel. The vacuum source is connected to pipe end 1 and the two vacuum channels 6, 7 are optionally connected via the manually operated vacuum switch 4 on the left and right. The carrier 12 for the filter membrane 13 lies above a collecting space to which the drain pipe 8 for the filtrate is connected. The channel 6 opens into an annular groove 10, the channel 7 in a cavity 11 surrounding the drain pipe 8 in the device body.
   b. from the preferably made of soft silicone rubber connector plug 15, which contains a support body 16 made of plastic.

This plug 15 is put with its annular groove 17 over the annular bead 9 of the conical device body approach.
   c. the filter upper part with filler neck 22 and a cylinder ring 19 which extends over the circumference and acts as a plunger and which engages in the annular space 10 in an airtight manner. The upper end of the filler neck 22 is designed as a Luer lock connection. Further variants of the filter upper part are shown in FIGS. 3 and 4.

The function of the filter device is explained below, FIG. 1.

The vacuum acting on the connecting pipe 1 via the switch 4 on the right and the channel 7 in the cavity 11 pulls the collecting vessel 23 close to the spherical outer surface of the removable sealing plug 15, so that the flow through the pipe 8 directly onto the filter membrane lying above the membrane carrier 12 13 acts.

The annular groove 10 of the device body 14 is connected via the switch 4 on the left and the channel 6 with the vacuum source, so that the plunger 19 of the filter upper part 20, 21, 22 is sucked into the groove 10. A sufficiently large pressure is thus exerted on the filter membrane by the pressure ring 21 in order to hold it in place. The liquid to be filtered is introduced through the connection piece 22 by means of a syringe or a hose. In the filter upper part 24 shown in FIG. 3, the filtering liquid can be supplied directly, but pre-filtration or desalination using ion-active substances is also possible.

4, a funnel 25 with a conical filter support 26 is used, which is suitable for pre-filtration with a folded filter paper.

The ventilation openings 20 prevent the undesirable suction of the filtration liquid into the annular groove 10.

The device is enabled to transfer, collect and mix liquids by means of a hose which is connected to the Luer lock connection with socket 22.
