Abstract
The saw makes vertical and horizontal cuts in an approx. vertical timber panel. It has a grid-like frame (1,2,3) to accommodate the panel, and a panel support, projecting from it, and consisting of supports. The frame has horizontal support profiles, located at relative vertical distances. The saw has a strip (8) to support panels of low vertical height. The device has lips (11,13) for removable fastening to two neighbouring profiles of the frame. It also has an additional horizontal support rail (10), located in the space between the profiles. This supports low panels. ADVANTAGE - Can be mounted easily on/removed from, conventional saws, and permits cutting of very small panels.
Description
The invention relates to a panel saw according to the preamble of the independent patent claim and to a device for supporting panel material of low height that can be detachably attached to this panel saw.
The general structure of such panel saws results, for example, from CH-PS 386 095, 621 083 and 659 424. The frame serving as a support for the panels to be cut has a metallic frame to which horizontal support profiles are attached at certain mutual distances.
For most of the panel sizes that are used in practice, it is ensured that the panels - after they have been placed on a lower support formed by rollers - are supported by at least two horizontal support profiles, so that the cut, whether horizontal or vertical, without this There is a risk of unwanted plate shifting and in particular the cutting pressure exerted by the saw is absorbed by the support profiles without causing a tilting moment.
The arrangement of further support profiles in the area of the support system is made more difficult by the fact that, in view of the sawing function, no permanent or fixed, additional support profiles can be installed in this area.
In the operation of these panel saws, however, it happens again and again that panels must be cut to such a low height that they are only supported by one - or in extreme cases by no - support profile. In these cases, the required cut cannot be made on the currently known panel saws due to the lack of a secure support.
It is the object of the present invention to propose a device which can be attached to existing panel saws of a commercially available design in an uncomplicated manner and removed again if necessary and which also allows the cutting of panels of very low height, so that, if necessary, the existing ones in the support system Gaps can be bridged.
The invention is defined in the characterizing parts of claims 1 and 3.
An embodiment of the invention is described below with reference to the single figure of the accompanying drawing. The figure is a simplified perspective view of a device mounted on the frame of a panel saw for supporting small panels of small height.
On the frame 1 of a panel saw two horizontally extending support profiles 2 and 3 are fastened, as they can be used on commercially available panel saws and the mutual distance between them is designated by H. The upper support profile 2 has on its underside a horizontally extending longitudinal groove 4, while on the lower support profile 3 a web 6 projecting outwards from a wall 5 is provided with a locking cam projecting downwards. Both support profiles 2 and 3 are attached to the frame 1 by known means.
In order to make the space between the two support profiles 2 and 3 usable for the cutting of small panels of low height, an easily attachable and also easily detachable device 8 is provided which has three support strips 10 protruding from the same on a rear wall 9. To attach this device to the two support profiles 2 and 3, the rear wall 9 is formed at its upper edge into a bead 11 which is dimensioned such that it can be inserted into the longitudinal groove 4 of the support profile 2. In the lower region of the rear wall 9, an elastic clip pointing in the direction of the web 6 is formed, which has an upper lip 12 and a lower lip 13.
The two lips 12, 13 are arranged at a mutual distance such that they spread slightly when pushed onto the web 6, the lower lip 13 being shaped at its free end to form a retaining bead 13a which engages behind the web 6 and the device 8 thus secures in their assembly position.
The lower end of the rear wall 9 is bent by approximately 90 ° and is in contact with the surface of the wall 5 of the support profile 3 facing it.
The device described can be installed in a simple manner if required by first inserting it in an inclined position with the upper longitudinal bead 11 into the longitudinal groove 4 of the support profile 2 and then pressing its lower part against the support profile 3 until the elastic clamp 12, 13 in Engagement with the retaining bead 13a snaps.
The small mutual height spacing h between adjacent support strips 10 or between these support strips and the adjacent support profiles 2 and 3 now also allows the sawing of small panels of extremely low height.
The entire device, designated 8, is preferably made of light metal.
