Fig. 1 eine Aufsicht auf eine erfindungsgemässe Messplatte
Fig. 2 einen Schnitt durch dieselbe Platte (A-A min ).
The invention relates to a multi-component force measuring arrangement for installation between two machine parts. It is particularly suitable for the automatic measurement of forces in machine tools and enables monitoring and detection of tool wear or tool breakage. Knowing the condition of the tools is an essential prerequisite for the automation of a manufacturing system. From the patents DE 1 952 522 and DE 3 440 670 it is known to use measuring platforms which are equipped with several force transducers and are inserted between the machine parts on which the acting forces are to be measured.
It is also known, for example from DE-OS 2 736 373, that the flow of force can be subdivided, a part penetrating the areas of the measuring platform lying between the force transducers and the force transducers absorbing only a fraction of the total force. This of course allows the measuring range to be expanded (measurement in shunt). With low forces, it may be desirable to allow the entire force flow to flow through the force transducers, which increases the sensitivity of measurement (measurement in the main connection). The measurement of the relevant forces and torques by means of a platform with several force transducers, which only selectively respond to one force component (e.g. pressure force), may require a subsequent quite complicated arithmetic unit, which converts the measured force components into the desired forces.
The assembly of the force transducers in the measuring platform, where, for example, exact distances must be maintained (they are included in the calculation) is a complex process.
The aim of the present invention is to remedy the disadvantages mentioned. This goal is achieved in that the measuring plate is provided with a force transducer that is sensitive in at least two directions. In a preferred embodiment, the transducer consists of a package of piezoelectric disks which are oriented such that although each disk is only sensitive to force in one direction, the overall package is generally in all three directions of a Cartesian coordinate system x, y, z.
The invention is described below with reference to the drawing. Show it:
Fig. 1 is a plan view of a measuring plate according to the invention
Fig. 2 shows a section through the same plate (A-A min).
The main idea of the invention is clear from FIG. The measuring plate 1 contains only a single bore 2 into which the multi-component force transducer 3 is inserted. The connecting cable 5, which contains the three signal lines x, y, z, is connected to the sensor 3 by means of a cable connector 4. In a preferred embodiment, this cable connection is welded, as a result of which the connection cable 5 is “integrated” into the sensor 3. This fixed connection between the cable connector 4 and the transducer 3 and the packaging of the signal lines x, y, z in the connection cable 5 absolutely seal the signal lines against the ingress of harmful external influences, such as moisture.
At the other end of the connection cable 5 there is a cable termination plug 10 which can be screwed tightly to the plug socket 11 in the cable connection area 12 for a three-channel charge amplifier, plug box or parallel switch box. This tight screwing of the connecting cable 5 on the amplifier side, the welding on the transducer side and the quality of the cable itself protect the entire measuring section 4, 5, 10, 11, 12 from the access of harmful machine oils and other moisture.
A further advantage of the above-mentioned measuring section 4, 5, 10 (i.e. up to the socket 11) together with the welded-on force transducer 3 is that it can be inserted into a cutout in the measuring plate 1 in a very simple manner. In contrast, the cabling of a measuring platform mentioned at the beginning with several force transducers is much more complicated and complex. Is indicated in Fig. 1, which shows the use of the measuring plate in an automatic lathe, the relative position of this plate in relation to support 6, tool holder 7 and tool (in this case turning tool) 8. The measuring plate 1 is between the turret head housing and XY -Slides, which are located above and below the plate and are not shown, attached by means of screws 9. The coordination system x, y, z which is preferably used on this measuring system is also shown.
In the case of an automatic lathe, the feed force acts in the x direction, the passive force in the y direction and the main cutting force in the z direction. These three force components relevant for the operation of turning are detected by the single force measuring cell 3, which thereby replaces the system mentioned at the beginning with, for example, four force transducers arranged in a rectangle. In practice it has been shown that the force transducer 2 should best be arranged in that part of the measuring plate 1 which is closest to the turning tool 8. Advantageously, the transducer 3 has a central bore and is inserted into the measuring plate 1 at the point where it is penetrated by the fastening screw 9 closest to the turning tool 8.
FIG. 2 shows a section A-A min through the measuring plate 1 in FIG. 1. The previous characters mean the same as in FIG. 1. Measuring plate 1 and force transducer 2 lie on one plane on the X-Y slide. The central part of the transducer 3 projects beyond the upper boundary surface of the measuring plate 1 by a certain amount. When the adjacent machine component is pressed on, the necessary preload is impressed on the force transducer 3. If the upper boundary surface of the force transducer 3 lies in one plane with the upper boundary of the measuring plate 1, the force flow will flow partly through the measuring plate 1 and partly through the force transducer 3 (shunt). The advantages of this measuring method were mentioned at the beginning.
The embodiment of the multi-component measuring arrangement according to the invention described above and shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 is not limited in its applications to the turning process. It can also be used in other metal and plastic processing operations such as milling, drilling, pressing, punching, etc. to monitor the condition of the tool, for example. The measured force components can be transformed in accordance with the requirements of the operation to be monitored in an arithmetic unit connected to the measuring amplifiers in such a way that the forces and torques relevant to the operation in question are formed. In certain applications, it may be appropriate to install two or more in the measuring plate instead of a multi-component force transducer.
A further embodiment according to the invention consists in that one of the two machine parts, between which the force flow is to be measured, is itself designed as a measuring plate, and the sensor or sensors are inserted in milled-out portions of this machine part.
