Korrekturflüssigkeiten werden zum Abdecken von Tippfehlem, jedoch auch zum Unkenntlichmachen sonstiger beschriebener Stellen, z.B. für Kopierzwecke verwendet. Correction fluids are used to cover typing errors, but also to make other described areas unrecognizable, e.g. used for copying purposes.
Es existieren folgende grundsätzlich verschiedene Arten von Korrekturflüssigkeiten: The following fundamentally different types of correction fluids exist:

Bei letzteren werden zumeist chlorierte Kohlenwasserstoffe als primäre Lösungsmittel eingesetzt, einerseits auf Grund ihrer guten Löseeigenschaften für die verwendeten Bindemittel, andererseits auf Grund ihrer schnellen Verdunstung aus dem bei der Korrektur gebildeten Film. Ein weiterer Vorteil liegt in der Unbrennbarkeit der Korrekturflüssigkeit, soferne ein ausreichend hoher Anteil von chlorierten Kohlenwasserstoffen gegeben ist.
