Abstract

The goniometer for measuring finger reflex and hyperextension has a measuring plate (MP) and a pair of cooperating measuring arms (CM, KM). The longer of these is sufficiently long to allow it to be supported against the hand, with the measuring plate rotated by the index finger into a required position. An angular scale is marked on each side of the measuring plate (MP) the shorter measuring arm (KM) offset by 40 degrees from the scale zero point. A pointer (2) on either side of the measuring plate (MP) is coupled to the longer measuring arm (LM) with a fixation screw (FS) providing the rotation axis for the measuring plate (MP) and allowing the frictional resistance between the longer measuring arm (LM) and the measuring plate (MP) to the adjusted. ADVANTAGE - Allows single-handed use.

   BESCHREIBUNG

Fig.   1    eine vereinfachte Darstellung eines bekannten Instrumentes;
Fig. 2 eine vereinfachte Darstellung des erfindungsgemässen Instrumentes;
Fig. 3 die Verwendung des Instrumentes nach Fig. 2 bei der Messung der Flexion eines Fingers;

   DESCRIPTION

   With rheumatic diseases and other joint diseases, the ability to bend the limbs decreases compared to a healthy hand. It is important for the attending physician to know whether this flexibility decreases with his patient, remains inpatient or increases, and thus even improves. For this purpose, measurements at certain time intervals are required, which the treating doctor can enter on his patient card.

   The invention has set itself the task of creating an instrument that can be operated with a single hand, which is simple and easy to use. In particular, a precise and simple measurement of the hyperextension on the dorsal side of the fingers should also be possible.

   The invention solves this problem with an instrument having the features of claim 1. In the accompanying drawing, an embodiment of the instrument according to the invention is shown and the handling thereof is explained on the basis thereof.

   The drawing shows:
1 shows a simplified illustration of a known instrument;
2 shows a simplified illustration of the instrument according to the invention;
3 shows the use of the instrument according to FIG. 2 in measuring the flexion of a finger;
Fig. 4 shows the use of the instrument of Fig. 2 in the measurement of hyperextension.

   The instrument shown in FIG. 1 has a measuring plate MP with a scale division from 0c to 1800. A short measuring leg KM is attached to the measuring plate side with the scale value 0. The long measuring leg LM, which is indicated by a thick line, is pivotally articulated in the center of the semicircular measuring plate and merges into a pointer Z. This known instrument is impractical because two hands are required to operate it.

  The finger flexion hyperextensions can only be measured by changing the position of the instrument from the dorsal side to the volar side. Measuring is cumbersome and less accurate.

   Figure 2 shows the device according to the invention in a simplified representation. It has a long measuring leg LM, which merges into a pointer that is firmly connected to it.

   The time Z encloses an angle of approximately 1400 with respect to the long measuring leg. If the radial edge of the measuring plate MP, which forms the short measuring leg KM, lies in the extension of the long measuring leg LM, the pointer Z points to 00.

   Figure 2 also shows the handling of the instrument.

  The long measuring leg LM is held by the thumb and middle finger and with the help of the index finger the measuring plate MP can be rotated around the fixation screw FS. The screw allows the desired frictional resistance to be set. The scale is attached to both sides of the measuring plate and the long measuring leg is accordingly also provided with a second pointer, which allows a reading on the back. This allows easy measurement of finger flexion for right-handed and left-handed users.

   FIG. 3 shows the use of the instrument in the measurement of a patient's finger flexion. In this drawing, for the sake of clarity, the hand of the doctor is omitted, who holds the device with one hand and actuates it during the measurement as shown in FIG.

   FIG. 4 shows the use of the instrument when measuring hyperextension on a patient's index finger.

   As can be seen from these last two figures, the flexion and the hyperextension can both be measured with the long measuring leg placed dorsally on the back of the hand.
