Abstract
An endless web of paper, plastic or textile material is coated with a substrate such as adhesive or pigments for copying by guiding the web over a roller and covering it at the coating zone by a mask with protruding parallel strips. The mask strips cling to the web-forming uncoated zones when the substrate is applied. ADVANTAGE - This creates webs with uncoated zones or fully coated, without costly measures requiring much labour effort.
Description
BESCHREIBUNG
Fig. 1 eine schematische Darstellung,
Fig. 2 einen Vertikalschnitt der Beschichtungspartie,
Fig. 4 eine perspektivische Ansicht der Kernpartie und
DESCRIPTION
The one- or both-sided coating of sheets of paper, fabric, plastic, etc. is carried out by pouring, brushing, dipping or spraying. The media used can be self-adhesive or pressure-sensitive adhesive based on water or solvents, but also colors for carbonless methods. In contrast to the full-surface coating, the self-adhesive materials adhere only partially, namely where the adhesive is located. With carbonless forms, copies of pens and typewriters can only be obtained in the area of the applied colors. Striped self-adhesive materials are used for bandage cotton in the hygiene sector and in the office area.
Non-sticky strips on a substrate web are mostly essential in terms of application technology, but also in certain cases are necessary for further processing in terms of production technology, and reasons for saving can also play a role here. In the case of web coating machines, the working widths of the latter are in each case significantly larger than the end products, which is why special cutting operations that are not technically efficient have to be carried out.
The present invention relates to a device for coating an endless web of paper, plastic or textile-like material with a substrate.
With the aid of the device according to the invention, the object of the invention is to create zones which are untreated in strips in the paper finishing with coating systems in the running direction of the web.
The full-surface coating can also be carried out without costly, labor-intensive steps.
This object is achieved with the features defined in claim 1. Advantageous designs can be found in claims 2 to 10.
Further details and advantages of the invention result from the following description, which are explained in connection with the accompanying figures using exemplary embodiments. The drawing shows:
1 is a schematic representation,
2 shows a vertical section of the coating section,
3 a mask in perspective on a larger scale,
Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the core section and
Fig. 5 shows a vertical section of the coating section in one variant.
In the drawing, 1 denotes the rotating guide roll of a conventional coating machine and 2 the counter roll located at the same height, the latter being mounted in the transverse direction in a conventional manner within certain limits. The displaceability of the counter roller 2 is essential in order to determine the thickness of the coating substrate 4 applied to the substrate web 3 (FIG. 2). The substrate web 3 can consist of paper, plastic, textile-like material or the like. At a distance above the guide roller 1 is a stationary mask support 5, in which a slightly curved mask 6 made of rustproof metal is held. The mask 6 is formed by an aperture 7, to which arc-shaped, downward-pointing, flexible and elastic mask straps 7 'are fixed by spot welding, gluing or riveting.
The masking tapes 7 'are dimensionally stable, but are very flexible in the running direction of the substrate web 3 and hang with their lower parts floating freely in the gap space 8 in the region of the coating point A between the rollers 1 and 2. The masking tapes 7' nestle over the circular arc shape on the peripheral side of the of the guide roller 1 guided substrate 4 and cause a tight cover. The thickness of the mask strips 7 'depends in each case on the corpulence of the substrate 4 to be applied and is normally 0.02-0.1 mm. The panel 7 expediently has a strength of 1-4 mm to ensure stability.
It is of great importance that the lower edge 7 "of the screen 7 is immersed in the coating medium 9 to be applied, which is located in the upper gap space 8 ', as can be seen from FIG. 2. The coating medium 9 is located at the level of the axes 10, 10 'between the rollers 1, 2. The coating medium 9 enters the gap space 8' through one or more feed pipes (not shown in particular) of the substrate web 3. The metering gap 12 between the metering bar 11 and the substrate web 3 is larger than the thickness of the masking bands 7 ', in order to avoid blockages during the coating process if the substrate web 3 contains thickenings.
In FIG. 5, 13 denotes a slot nozzle directed into the gap 8 ′, which is mounted so as to be adjustable with the counter-roller 2 in the horizontal direction. The counter roller 2 with the metering bar 11 is pivoted about 45 degrees to the right.
After pivoting, the metering strip 11 assumes the position shown in dashed lines. If necessary, the coating with the slot nozzle 13 can also be carried out without the counter roller 2.
The diaphragm 7 of the mask 6 with the mask straps 7 'is expediently detachably and interchangeably held in a slot 14 shown in dashed lines in the mask carrier 5 and conventional clamping screws are suitable for the detachable holder.
For each profile of the strip-like, untreated zones to be applied on the coating substrate 4, a special mask 6 consisting of the diaphragm 7 and the masking strips 7 'must be used. The number of mask bands 7 ', their widths and the thickness depends on the obesity of the substrate 4 and the desired design of the untreated or. Coating-free zones on the substrate web 3. The mask 6 is expediently arranged on the mask carrier 5 in an exchangeable manner and can be used repeatedly.
The mask 6 and the mask strips 7 'are to be made of materials such as metal or plastic which are resistant to the coating substrate 4.
The device described can be used for coatings with strips of untreated or. Use coating-free zones of any kind and is particularly advantageous for finishing purposes.
