Abstract

A single sheet of the textiles covers several elements and slight gaps remain between the sides of the elements. Each grating element (1) comprises bars (5) in one direction having the same overall depth as the edge bars (3) of the grating, and bars (6) of lesser depth in the transverse direction. Slits (7) in the outer bars (3) enable the panels to be laid on rails, for example inverted T-sections. Pref. also, further apertures (9) are provided in the edge bars (3) and in the deeper bars (5) within the lattice, to permit the laying of cables etc. beneath the floor covering. The number of gratings (1) for each textile sheet may be even or odd. The textile covering (2) may be a needled floor covering material, a tufted material, or a woven material. The gratings (1) are pref. polyethylene, PVC, polystyrene, polypropylene or polyvinylacetate and/or copolymers of these. They may be of square or rhombus shape. The gratings may be directly moulded or injected onto the underside of the covering material. The flooring can be easily laid and removed and permits the laying of cables beneath it.
