Abstract

The watch glass is made, for example, from sapphire or tempered mineral glass and has an overall octagonal shape. The front face (2) is plane but has two chamfers (3, 4) cut at different angles around its edge. The edge (5) is cylindrical and is held by friction in a frame. The back surface of the glass (1) is of truncated conical form, extending from near the centre to the edges. This section is divided into facets.
