Das bisher not

The invention relates to an exhaust gas cleaning device on a firing system equipped with a chimney with condensation of the water vapor contained in the exhaust gases, the condensate also containing pollutants and solid particles contained in the exhaust gases.
The currently increasing air pollution - apart from industrial operations and road traffic - is to a large extent attributable to the small combustion plants that are mainly used in houses for heating and hot water preparation. While filter devices are increasingly being installed in industrial companies and catalysts for cars are being developed to improve the combustion of the fuel, the exhaust gases with the pollutants and solid particles contained in them all flow unhindered into the atmosphere. In such small systems, cleaning the exhaust gases is too complex and often not possible due to space constraints.
The invention has for its object to provide a device of the type mentioned, which requires little effort and space and which can also be retrofitted into an existing system.
The solution to this problem consists in a two-stage cooling of the exhaust gases by providing the first cooling stage before the exhaust gases enter the chimney and the second cooling stage inside the chimney.
Through this intensive and comprehensive cooling process, the condensate of the water vapor also removes pollutants, mainly sulfur dioxide and the majority of the various nitrogen oxides, as well as ash particles and any remaining fuel residues from the exhaust gases, which can now be better discharged into the atmosphere. Moving part of the cooling device into the chimney significantly reduces the space required. If the heat extracted from the exhaust gases is used as useful heat, the firing efficiency of the system increases.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is described in more detail with the aid of the attached schematic drawing.
Parts not essential to the invention such as fittings and the like have been omitted.
According to the single figure of the drawing, the exhaust gases of the boiler 1 are sucked in by the first fan 2 and conveyed through the condenser 3. From here they reach the outside through the slightly inclined part 4 of the exhaust pipe and through the subsequent vertical part 6 of the pipe built into the chimney 5. To protect against the ingress of rain and other weather influences, the upper end of the chimney 5 is covered by the cap 7, which at the same time serves to hold the exhaust pipe.
The condenser 3 forms the first stage of the exhaust gas cooling. The interior 8 of the condenser through which the exhaust gases flow is surrounded by the water jacket 9. The condensate formed on the cold walls of the water vapor present in the exhaust gases, which contains the simultaneously deposited pollutants and solid particles, runs down and exits into the container 10.
The capacitor can have a wide variety of shapes; in particular, tubes 8, which also have cooling water flowing through them, can be provided in the interior. Likewise, the entire capacitor can be designed as a plate capacitor.
The heat transferred to the cooling water can be used, for example, for direct warm water preheating or in some other way. However, this generally assumes that the cooling water flows continuously and as evenly as possible through the condenser.
Another possibility is shown in the drawing.
The cooling water is recooled in the heat exchanger 11 and is circulated by the circulation pump 12, which is switched on in the flow line 13 of the heat exchanger.
This heat exchanger can e.g. a radiator or a group of radiators known from conventional central heating systems in order to utilize the heat recoverable from the cooling water for room heating. If the boiler is also used for hot water preparation in the summer months, then it must be ensured that the heat exchanger can also function as a recooling unit during this time.
To protect the condenser against overheating, an expansion vessel with a certain water supply and a safety valve on the water jacket must be provided. Monitoring the power supply to the circulation pump is also expedient and easy to implement.
The second stage of exhaust gas cooling is the vertical part 6 of the exhaust pipe; the inclined part 4, which may be very short, contributes little to the cooling.
The cooling air is used by the combustion system as combustion air, which has various advantages. It enters the chimney 5 under the cap 7, is sucked in by the fan 14 from the interior 15 of the chimney and is pressed into the boiler room. So far not
This eliminates the need for agile and by no means valued keeping a window open for fresh air to operate the burner properly.
The suction of the cooling air down through the chimney causes the air and exhaust gas to be directed in countercurrent to one another, which increases the heat transfer between air and exhaust gas and improves the efficiency of the system through the greater utilization of the heat still contained in the exhaust gases. The colder the outside air, the better the cooling effect and thus the cleaning effect.
The air heated on its way through the chimney serves, as already mentioned above, to supply the burner 16.
While the exhaust pipe is flowing through, any remaining water vapor in the exhaust gas is condensed. The condensate flows down the pipe wall. It is expedient to collect the condensate accumulating in the condenser and the condensate in the discharge pipe so that it can subsequently be discharged into the container 10. Therefore, the part 4 of the exhaust pipe is slightly inclined to naturally return the condensate from the exhaust pipe to the condenser 3. Because of the pollutants dissolved in the condensate, it is necessary that all components, fittings and welds that come into contact with the condensate are made of an acid-resistant material.
The proper functioning of the two fans 2 and 14 is a prerequisite for the safe operation of the system. In order to avoid a possible mistake, it is advantageous to electrically couple them to the furnace of the system in such a way that both fans and the burner 16 are switched on and off simultaneously. Furthermore, the system should be secured in such a way that the burner shuts off if one of the fans becomes defective. The circulation pump 12 can also be included in this safety system. However, it is also possible to let the burner run for a certain time or even keep it running after the burner has been switched off.
