Abstract

The easy chair comprises a first set of rods (3 and 4) hinged together (B) or acting as front legs and arms respectively and connected (A and C) to the seat (1) and to the backrest (2), the latter two having a pivot (D). A second set of rods (5) acting as rear legs and of levers (6) joined together (F) by a hinge and pivoting on the arms (4) and on the seat (1) at (E) and (G) respectively, completes the hinged structure which reduces to a flat panel (shaft) when its components are rotated, because the length (A, B, C) is equal to the length (A, D, C) and because the length (F, E, C) is equal to the length (F, G, D, C). The backrest (2) has hook means (7) on which the easy chair, reduced to a flat panel (shaft) can be hung up like a coat hanger in an ordinary wardrobe. It is characterised by its comfort and at the same time its practicality and ease of storage, and its particular use is in dwellings with limited space and in private and public places of refreshment and entertainment. <IMAGE>

Description

The present invention relates to an easy-to-fold and foldable armchair that can be hanged at the same time, which has the purpose of solving the problem, often present in apartments, of limited space and that of public businesses to be able to contain with little space in warehouses or in the cellar or in the open large quantities of armchairs.

In particular, the problem that arises when it is necessary to accommodate guests in a more comfortable and elegant way than on folding chairs, although there is not enough space in the house to be able to permanently have the required number of seats.

Similarly in outdoor restaurants, bars, terraces, seaside resorts, outdoor places for public events of a certain importance, folding chairs are not enough for this purpose, but a more comfortable arrangement of those present is required; this however implies serious problems for the displacement of the material to sit at the end of the shift or at the end of the event.

The armchair in question aims to fulfill tasks of comfort, simplicity of handling, lightness and above all of space.

The present armchair can be flattened and reduced to a flat shape of very reduced thickness. It can be hung in a normal wardrobe or closet exactly as if it were a dress, presenting in fact a similar shape and a thin thickness.

To pass from the use phase to the storage phase, the present armchair, instead of bending, flattens or unfolds, reducing itself to a kind of plate or plane. The folding armchairs or chairs of the prior art owe their compactness to the fact that they fold in on themselves in various ways.

A characteristic of the present invention is therefore a flattened and foldable armchair, which can be hung, comprising two platforms which function respectively as seat and backrest, hinged to each other along their side; a first set of rods, acting as front legs and armrests, hinged to each other and hinged respectively to the seat and back; and a second set of rods and levers acting as a rear support, hinged to each other and respectively connected to said seat and armrests, characterized in that the distance between the hinging point between the seat and the front legs, through the point hinging between the front legs and the armrests, at the hinging point between the armrests and the backrest it is equal to the distance between the hinging point between the seat and the front legs, through the hinging point between the seat and the back, at the pivot point between the armrests and the backrest, and that the distance between the pivot point between the rear legs and the levers, through the pivot point between the armrests and the rear legs, at the pivot point between the armrests and the backrest is equal to the distance between the hinge point between the rear legs and the levers, through the hinge point between the levers and the seat and through the hinging point between the seat and the backrest, at the hinging point between the armrests and the backrest, and that the backrest is provided with means for hooking, to allow the reduction of the armchair in a hanging and thick position reduced, without any protrusion or prominence.

With reference to fig. 1 the armchair in question comprises two platforms 1 and 2 acting respectively as seat and backrest hinged to each other in D, to allow the maneuver for leveling, setting up and for tilting the backrest 2 on seat 1. The rods 3 and 4 acting respectively as legs or front supports and armrests are hinged to each other by means of joints B and hinged respectively to seat 1 in A and back 2 in C.

The rods 5 acting as legs or rear supports are hinged in E to the armrests 4 and levers 6 in F, the latter in turn are hinged to the seat in G.

In this way, an articulated system is created which with the relative rotation between its components allows the flattening of the platforms 1 and 2 and the alignment with them of all the components, due to the fact that the distances F, E, C are equal to F, G, D, C. This means that while under load conditions the hinge D rests on the lever G, F in a stable equilibrium position, when instead the upper end of the backrest 2 is raised, the armrests 4 turning around a B go to align with the front legs 3, the seat 1 and the backrest 2 rotate around A and C respectively and between them around D also go to align in the same direction and in the same plane and the rear legs 5 rotate around at E and guided by levers G, F, 6 they form an angle of 180 ° with these, also positioning themselves parallel to the same direction and on the same plane (figs. 3 and 4).

For greater convenience, shock-absorbing means 8 (fig. 1) are inserted between the levers 6 and the seat 1; moreover, the elastic return means 9 is such as to keep the chair in its functional structure. At the upper end of the back there is a clothes hanger hook 7 to be able to hang the small armchair on the floor in a normal wardrobe, just like a dress. This hook can act even if suitably configured as a block between the back and the seat when the latter is folded on the seat itself to decrease the length of the armchair made flat, thanks to the fact that the pin of the hinge C is removable. In this way, a possible transport is also made easy, for example by car in the trunk.

It is evident that the fact of reducing the articulated assembly making up the armchair by aligning the rods and hinged planes involves some lability from a structural point of view in the hinge points, giving rise to possible displacements, rotations between them, sometimes not desired.

This is remedied by:

- a blocking of rotation between seat and back in the flattened position by means of a stop, for example between crossbar 5 and seat 1;

20 - limitation of the 180 ° rotation of the hinge F between the rods 5 and the levers 6 to prevent the seat 1 from folding further when said seat 1 is aligned with the rear legs 5 and to facilitate the unfolding maneuver in the correct direction;

- limitation of the 180 ° rotation of the hinge B between the 25 legs 3 and the armrests 4 to facilitate the folding operation in the correct direction towards the seat position.

The armchair in question is suitable for any type of padding or upholstery and can be made in the most varied materials, wood, plastic, metal.

30 In this way a valid seating medium is obtained characterized by excellent qualities of functionality, comfort and elegance combined with the practicality of being able to be placed in a very small space when not in use.

It is particularly used in modern apartments 35 with limited space, in public and private dining and entertainment places.
