The subject of the present invention is a screw guide device and nut mechanism, comprising a screw, a nut body engaged on the screw, one or more rolling bearings of which the inner ring or rings are engaged in the thread of the screw so as to rotate therewith by friction. and connecting means between the outer ring (s) of the rolling bearing (s) and the nut body.
Devices of this kind are already known, in particular by Swiss patent 529,308. They have the advantage of being of relatively simple construction insofar as standard construction rolling bearings can be used. In addition, they ensure a force transmission between the lily and the nut with good efficiency due to the use of bearings and also guarantee good precision in the transmission of movement.
The object of the present invention is to further improve the production and performance of these known devices by creating a simplified construction in which automatic compensation of the sets of the bearings and the screw is obtained without affecting the efficiency of the transmission.
For this purpose, the device according to the invention of the kind mentioned at the start is characterized in that the said inner ring or rings comprise two transmission ramps of annular shape having an axial orientation and each having a point of contact with a side of a screw thread, these points being located in support zones offset relative to each other around the axis of the screw, in that said connecting means comprise displacement means and c pressure acting in the axial direction on said support zones of the transmission ramps so as to permanently press them in opposite directions against two sides of the screw thread.
Two embodiments of the subject of the invention will be described below by way of example, with no reference to the accompanying drawings,
fig. 1 is a side elevational view of the first embodiment.
fig. 2 is a front elevation view.
fig. 3 is a partial sectional view on an enlarged scale, and
al fig. 4 is a view similar to FIG. 3 showing the second form of execution.
As can be seen in the drawings, the device which goes between described is an actuator, that is to say a device capable of moving in translation in a straight line a carriage or any member along a certain stroke, the control this movement can be effected by automatic means, in particular by electronic means thus making it possible to regulate these displacements according to a pre-established program or according to any other function.
The actuator housing 1 contains a gear motor, the details of which are not important here, and the output shaft of which is secured to a screw 2 shown in the drawing with its horizontal axis.
This screw extends cantilevered out of the housing 1 and, inside this housing, it is supported by bearings so that its positioning is completely precise.
Under the screw 2 extends a guide rod 3 which is fixed relative to the housing 1 and which is for example integral with a boss 4a projecting from a base plate 4 belonging to the frame of the housing.
The nut mechanism 5 whose body 6 also has at its lower part a boss 6a pierced with a hole adjusted to the rod 3, and engaged on this rod. moves in translation in the direction of the axis of the screw 2 under the effect of the rotation of the latter in one direction or in the other direction, depending on the direction of rotation of the screw.
The construction of the nut mechanism is visible in more detail in FIG. 3. Its main part is the nut body 6 which has the shape of a cylindrical sleeve having a bore 7 which opens at one of its ends in a housing also cylindrical but oriented obliquely to the axis of the bore 7 In this housing 8 is engaged a ball bearing of standard construction 9, the external raceway of which is fixed to the interior of the housing 8, while the internal raceway rotates around an axis which is inclined for example. of 30 relative to the axis of screw 2.
In the embodiment described here, the inner race of the bearing 9 has a cylindrical inner surface 10 and two opposite planar faces 1 1 and 12. However. in other embodiments, the internal angles of the inner raceway
could be cut at a bevel, this raceway then having one or two frustoconical annular surfaces.
On the side opposite to the bearing 9, the nut body 6 is extended by an auxiliary support 13 which is also a part in the form of a cylindrical sleeve with a central bore 14 of the same diameter as the coupling 7 and with. at its end, a cylindrical housing 15 of the same shape as the housing 8. In this housing 15 is fixed a second rolling bearing 16 of the same dimension and of the same construction as the bearing 9. The external raceway of this bearing is therefore fixed either by hunting. either by other means in the housing 15. the internal raceway being free to rotate about an axis which is parallel to that of the internal raceway of the bearing 9.
The nut mechanism 5 further comprises a guide bearing 17 constituted by a cylindrical sleeve which will preferably be made of plastic or another self-lubricating material. and the internal diameter of which is adjusted to the external diameter of the threads of the screw 2. The bearing cushion 17 is rigidly fixed to the auxiliary support 13. for example by engagement of its external surface in the bore 14. and is adjusted relative to the nut body 6 so as to slide freely but without play in the bore 7. In addition.
between the parts 6 and 13 are arranged a number of springs.
for example of the flange or bellows type, designated by 18. which tend to separate the two parts 6 and 13 from one another.
As seen in fig 3. the screw 2 has a thread formed by two parallel threads 19 and '0. triangular profile, similarly, nested one in the other, and the ball bearings 9 cli 6 are fixed in their housing 8 and 15 so that. when the bearing bearing 17 is engaged on the screw 2,
the outer flat front face of the internal raceway of the bearing 9 presses at a point which is located on the upper generatrix of the screw 2 against the flank of one of the threads of the screw while the flat front face 21 of the track inner bearing of the bearing 16, which forms with the internal cylindrical surface 22 of this raceway a dihedral angle of 90-, also presses at a point which is located on the lower generatrix of the screw 2 against the side of the 'one of the threads of the screw 2. This thread may be the same as that against which the surface 1 1 rests or may be the other thread.
This construction implies that the front faces 11 and 21 of the inner raceways of the bearings, which play the role of a transmission ramp. have an inclination which corresponds to that of the flanks of the threads of the screw. On the other hand, the bearings 9 and 16 must be arranged relative to the nut mechanism 5 so that the internal edges of the transmission ramps are engaged in the thread of the screw in order to ensure the transmission of force between the screw. and the nut mechanism. or vice versa, via contact surfaces of sufficient size.
Thanks to the spring 18 and to the possibility of sliding of the auxiliary support 13 relative to the nut body 6, the sets of bearings and the sets of adjustment of the screw and of the nut mechanism are entirely canceled, so that all rotation of the screw causes an immediate displacement and of exactly corresponding importance of the nut mechanism. It is therefore possible to control the rotation of the motor housed in the housing 1 by imposing on it a rotation of an exactly predetermined angle, the displacement of the nut mechanism corresponding quite exactly to the angle of rotation of the motor. The final position of this mechanism can therefore be known in advance with precision.
As mentioned above, the device can be produced in numerous variants. Thus, for example, instead of the self-lubricating material bearing 17 which ensures the concentric movement of the nut mechanism relative to the screw 2, one could also use a needle bearing support. the latter being directly in contact with the tops of the threads of the screw 2 Thus. when turning the screw. the needles rotate on themselves and move progressively in the axial direction. since they are linked in this sense to the nut mechanism.
On the other hand. the transmission ramps 1 1 and 21. instead of being flat surfaces perpendicular to the axes of the bearings, could also be frustoconical surfaces. which would make it possible to choose the inclination of the bearings 9 and 16 in the vertical plane with respect to the axis of the screw, independently of the angle of inclination of the flanks of the threads
19 and 20.
On the other hand, instead of the springs 18, other means could also be used to ensure on the one hand the connection between the elements 6 and 13. and on the other hand the application to these two elements of forces tending to move away from each other in order to provide support for the transmission ramps against the sides of the threads at two diametrically opposite points.
Of course, one could also use in the described mechanism more than two rolling bearings arranged so that the inner bearing rings cooperate with the screw thread at more than two points. regularly distributed around the periphery of the is. It is known that the contact of the inner bearing rings of the bearings with the thread of the screw has the consequence that the rotation of the screw causes, by direct contact and bearing, the rotational movement of the inner bearing rings of the bearings, which guides the nut mechanism longitudinally on the screw.
Finally. it should also be recalled that means can be provided to maintain the auxiliary support 13 in a fixed orientation relative to the nut body 6 while allowing the relative axial movement of these two parts relative to each other. These means are not shown in the drawings. They can consist, for example, of a key or any other equivalent means.
A second embodiment of the guide device is shown in FIG. 4. The screw 40 is of the same type as the screw 2 of the first embodiment. The nut body -1 l has a cylindrical bore 42 which is adjusted to the outside diameter of the threads of the screw 40. Where appropriate. the nut body 41 may be provided with a cylindrical bearing bushing, the internal surface of anti-friction metal constituting the surface 42. The nut body 41 also has a lateral projection 43 intended for guiding in the longitudinal direction like the projection 6a of fig. 1.
The nut body 41 also has a cylindrical housing with an inclined axis 44, in which is housed a ball bearing 45 whose outer ring 46, while being guided by the walls of the housing 44. can perform a pivoting movement by relative to the nut body 31 around an axis perpendicular to the axis of the bore 42. In an alternative embodiment, the bearing 45 can be linked to the nut body 41 by an elastic washer, for example Seeger ring type, hooked to the periphery of the housing 44, so that, at a point on its periphery. the outer ring 46 is pressed against the bottom of the housing 44, while. in the diametrically opposite zone of its periphery. this outer ring has a slight possibility of dislocation.
Next to this upper area. the nut body 41 has a bore 47 with an axis parallel to that of the screw, in which are engaged on the one hand a support element 48 which is pressed against the outer ring 46, on the other hand a spring 49 ensuring this pres otherwise, and finally a removable plug 50 which is screwed into the outer end of the bore 47.
The inner bearing ring 51 of the bearing 45 has two flat and parallel front surfaces 52 and 53, which constitute transmission ramps. Due to the mounting of the bearing 45 as described above, these transmission ramps are pressed by the effect of the spring 49 one against one of the flanks of the threads of the screw 40, and the other against the another side of the threads of this screw. One thus obtains by this means the same elastic support effect as in the arrangement according to FIG. 3, the nut mechanism being in this particularly simplified embodiment.
As a variant, the bearing 45 could also be supported by an outer ring provided with diametrically opposite trunnions and situated at the level of the axis of the screw, a spring support device, similar to the device 48, 49, 50, then ensuring the support of the transmission ramps of the inner ring against opposite sides of the threads of the screw.
It follows from the two embodiments described above that the transmission ramps of annular, planar or frustoconical shape, by which the rotational movement of the screw around its axis is transformed into a translational movement in the direction of its axis and transmitted to the nut mechanism, have a diameter greater than that of the screw and are arranged eccentrically with respect thereto. In addition, their axes intersect that of the screw and are oriented obliquely with respect to the latter so that.
in the region of contact between each transmission ramp and the screw, the flank of the thread which is in contact with the transmission ramp is tangent to the latter. The transfer of force is therefore carried out with reduced local pressures. In addition, from the leakage of the drive train by contact from the thread of the screw, there is no friction. the movement of the transmission ramp including a rolling movement on the thread of the screw.
This is how a movement transmission device of simplified construction is produced, but which has a very high efficiency and a precision which makes it possible to use it in control or measurement devices with transmission by electric pulses. , for example in digital control devices.
