REVENDICATION
La fig. 1 représente une course d'une forme d'exécution préférée du dispositif de commutation selon l'invention, indiquant une première position stable;
la fig. 2 représente la même forme d'exécution représentée à la fig.
I, indiquant une deuxième position, instable;
la fig. 3 représente une première coupe détaillée d'une forme d'exécution utilisant, conjointement, une membrane de commutatation connue;
la fig. 4 représente une deuxième coupe détaillée d'une forme d'exécution utilisant, conjointement, une planche de circuit imprimé;
la fig. 5 représente une coupe d'une forme d'exécution semblable à celle représentée à la fig. 1, indiquant une autre manière de relier l'aimant mobile au poussoir, le dispositif étant dans la position stable;
la fig. 6 représente la même variante que celle de la fig. 5, indiquant le dispositif dans la position instable;

CLAIM
Monostable switching device, comprising a first element constituting a support base (I), a second element constituting a pusher (7) movable relative to the base between a first stable position and a second unstable position and comprising a member (9) intended to actuate a switch, and means for guiding the travel of the pusher between said first and second positions, characterized in that it comprises:
: - a first permanent magnet (2) connected to the support base
and having a magnetic surface (3) having two poles
magnets of opposite polarities (N1, Sl) arranged one to
a first end located near the base and
the other at a second opposite end, located near
swimming of the pusher, and - a second permanent magnet (II) connected to the pusher and pre
sensing a magnetic surface (20) having two poles ma
opposite polarities (N2, S2) separated by a dis
tance equal to the distance between the poles of the first
magnet (2) and arranged one at a first end in a con
tact with the pusher and the other at a second op end
posed,
the magnetic surfaces of the first and second
magnets being turned towards each other, and in that one of said magnets is fixedly mounted on the element to which it is connected while the other magnet, mobile, is mounted so as to pivot by one of its ends on the other element, the whole being arranged so that at rest the magnetic forces of mutual attraction exerted between the two magnets define said stable position of the pusher, and that in response to the application of an external force on the pusher, the second magnet is driven parallel to the first magnet to occupy an unstable position in which the magnetic forces exerted between the two magnets cause an abrupt repulsion of the movable magnet,
causing the latter to pivot which strikes a stop means (18) intended to limit its angular travel so as to prevent it from escaping the magnetic influence which will bring it back to the stable position, accompanied of the pusher, following a relaxation of the external force, the stroke of the pusher, between said first and second positions, being substantially equal to the distance separating the two magnetic poles from each magnet.
The present invention relates to a monostable switching device with abrupt release, offering, firstly, a pronounced running step, preceding the switching, and secondly an audible and tactile confirmation of an accomplished switching. The device comprises two permanent magnets, one movable relative to the other, each comprising two magnetic poles of opposite polarities.
We know that a tactile and audible confirmation emitted by a mechanical device comes from a sudden release of accumulated energy, causing a mobile member to move, from one position to another, at high velocity, to strike a means stop limiting said movement.
Such a switching device is known comprising a spring calibrated so as to respond to an external force causing its deformation, thus accumulating a certain energy which will be transmitted suddenly to a movable member, causing it to move abruptly to strike a means of stop, thus emitting an audible and tactile confirmation of a switching accomplished.
However, in such a device, the stroke of a pusher acting on the spring is limited by the deformation characteristics of said spring. This stroke is generally too short to meet the requirements of certain switching devices, such as those of computer keyboards and. of typewriters.
We have therefore known, recently, a switching device meeting the two requirements, by combining two springs, one with a spiral intended for the travel of a pusher, and the other with abrupt deformation for tripping.
Such a device requires careful calibrations making the device vulnerable to mechanical malfunction particularly caused by fatigue and by temperature variations.
The device according to the invention overcomes the disadvantages mentioned by eliminating any recourse to springs. Given that two magnets facing one another find a natural magnetic alignment, and that the stroke of the pusher is equal to a choice of the distance separating the two poles of a magnet, the simplicity of assembly of the device becomes obvious. As for the intensity of the audible and tactile confirmation of a switching, this depends on the choice of the relative position of a stop means limiting the stroke of the pivoting magnet.
To this end, the switching device according to the invention has the characteristics specified in the claim.
The invention will be better understood in the light of the description which follows, given by way of example, with reference to the appended drawings in which:
Fig. 1 shows a travel of a preferred embodiment of the switching device according to the invention, indicating a first stable position;
fig. 2 shows the same embodiment shown in FIG.
I, indicating a second position, unstable;
fig. 3 shows a first detailed section of an embodiment using, jointly, a known switching membrane;
fig. 4 shows a second detailed section of an embodiment using, jointly, a printed circuit board;
fig. 5 shows a section of an embodiment similar to that shown in FIG. 1, indicating another way of connecting the movable magnet to the pusher, the device being in the stable position;
fig. 6 shows the same variant as that of FIG. 5, indicating the device in the unstable position;
fig. 7 schematically represents a variant of the relative arrangement of the magnets, in the stable position; and
Fig. 8 represents the same variant indicated in FIG. 7, the magnets being in the unstable position.
The corresponding elements which are found in the various figures are designated by identical reference numbers or letters. This is the case, in particular, with a first element constituting a support base (1) shown in FIG.
1, comprising a first permanent magnet (2) having a first magnetic surface (3) having two adjacent magnetic poles of opposite polarities Nl (4) and Si (5) separated by a given distance and arranged so that the end of the magnet comprising the magnetic pole N1 is in the vicinity of the base, while the other end comprising the magnetic pole Si is situated relatively far from said base, so that said first magnetic surface (3) forms a substantially right angle by relative to the base which offers said first magnet a fixed support means (6). Said base further comprises means (16) for guiding the travel of a pusher (7), between a first, stable position and a second, unstable position, indicated in FIG. 2.
The device further comprises a second element constituted by the pusher (7), movable relative to said base, and guided by said means (16) to travel a stroke parallel to said magnetic surface of said fixed magnet, between said first and second positions. Said pusher comprises a member (9), one end (10) of which is intended to ac
actuating a switching element disposed at the bottom of said support base.
Two examples of known types of switching elements (117, 1117) are shown in Figs. 3 and 4. Other switching elements, cooperating with the device of the present invention not being excluded, some examples will be cited at the end of the description.
Said pusher comprises a second permanent magnet (II), having a second magnetic surface (20), having two adjacent magnetic poles of opposite polarity N2 (12) and
S2 (13), separated by a distance equal to the distance separating the poles from the first magnet, and arranged, one at a first end (14), comprising a pivoting means cooperating with a second pivoting means (8) carried by the pusher, and the other magnetic pole being disposed at a second end (15) of said second magnet. Said end (15) is therefore free to travel an angular travel relative to the pusher.
The magnetic surfaces of the first and second magnets being turned towards one another so as to allow a magnetic pole of the second magnet to be arranged with respect to another magnetic pole of opposite polarity from the other magnet (2), as shown in FIGS. 1 and 5. Said arrangement of the magnets is the result of mutual magnetic attraction between the magnets which are therefore in the first, stable position. The pusher, being connected to the second magnet, also occupies this stable position (or a rest position).
Figures 7 and 8 show another way to arrange the magnets. To occupy a stable magnetic position (said first position of the device) the two magnetic poles of each of the magnets are arranged opposite two other magnetic poles of opposite polarities of the other magnet. In the second, unstable position, a single magnetic pole of each of the magnets occupies a position with respect to a single other magnetic pole of polarity similar to that of the other magnet, as indicated in FIG. 8.
In response to the application of an external force on the pusher, the second magnet (II) is driven parallel to the magnetic surface (3) of the first magnet to occupy a position made magnetically unstable, in which the two magnetic poles of said second magnet are necessarily arranged opposite the other two magnetic poles of similar polarity of the first magnet. This unstable position causes an abrupt repulsion of said second magnet, forcing it to an abrupt displacement, manifested by the angular travel of its end (15), which will strike a stop means (18) intended in particular to prevent it from escaping. to the magnetic field which will bring it back to the stable position, accompanied by the pusher, this following a relaxation of said external force.
The angular travel of said end (15) of the magnet determines the intensity of its striking force against said stop means (18), the relative position of which becomes a choice within the limits of the magnetic field between said two magnets. The also angular travel of said end (15), in the opposite direction, is limited by a second stop means (19), disposed on the magnetic surface (3) of the first magnet or in the vicinity thereof. The stroke of the pusher, between said positions, is substantially equal to the distance separating the two adjacent magnetic poles of the same magnet. The stop means (17), limiting the stroke of the pusher to the unstable position, as shown in Figures 1, 2, 5 and 6 by way of example, is functionally defined in Figures 3 and 4, indicating the elements switching means (117, 1117) as being stopping means.
More particularly, the end (10) of the member (9) of the pusher determines the end of the stroke of the pusher, by actuating the element (117), of the known membrane type, or others based on capacitive components or on piezoelectric crystal elements. In fig. 4, said end (10) is intended to make the bridge between a plurality of contacts of a printed circuit presented by a printed circuit board (1117). To this end, a conductive member (100), carried by said end serving as an electric bridge, actuates a circuit at said unstable position of the device.
It is important to emphasize that the device of the present invention can be used or installed in reverse, so that said external force is applied to the base, which would become the pusher, while the pusher would become the base, the operation of the device keeping its characteristics.
The application of the switching device of the present invention also extends to contactless switching elements (solid state), such as the Hall effect element. Such an element, associated with the present device, can take advantage of the displacement of one of the magnets for its actuation. The audible and tactile confirmation of an accomplished switching, that is to say the operation of the device, is in no way disturbed by the presence of such an element.
It is therefore understood that the device which has just been described fulfills the required functions: allowing the push-button a pronounced stroke preceding the switching and offering an audible and tactile confirmation coinciding with a switching accomplished.
It is also understood that the stroke of the pusher is determined by the choice of the distance between the two adjacent magnetic poles of the same magnet, and that the intensity of the sound and tactile confirmation is determined by the choice of the relative position of the means stop limiting the travel of the movable magnet.
In addition, it is understood that the device adapts to various switching technologies, with contacts as well as without contacts (solid state).
