6. Device for implementing the method according to claim 1. characterized in that it comprises means for detecting the angular position of the edges of the end of the drill, means for recording this angular position, a calculator carrying out the arithmetic average of the recorded values, and means for applying this average value to the spindle holding the drill in front of the grinding wheel.
The subject of the invention is an angular positioning method
a drill for sharpening in an automatic sharpener.
It is known to sharpen drills in automatic machines.
For this purpose, the drill must be positioned angularly. The position
This is done by referring to an edge. However, some
drills have symmetry defects, so that the sharpening of
the second edge is not performed correctly relative to the
actual position of this edge.
The present invention aims to compensate for this defect in sy
metrics.
To this end, the method according to the invention is characterized in that
that we detect and record the angular position of the two edges of
the end of the drill, and that the drill is positioned in front of the grinding wheel
sharpening as a function of the arithmetic mean of these measurements.
Examples of implementation of the method according to the invention will be described in relation to the accompanying drawing.
Fig. 1 shows an automatic machine for sharpening drills in which the method according to the invention is used.
Fig. 2 shows the end of a drill to be sharpened.
The machine shown in fig. 1 comprises a frame 1 carrying a sharpening assembly, not shown, protected by a cover 2 made of transparent synthetic material provided with a lateral opening 3 allowing the passage of a doll 4 mounted on a transverse slide 5, itself mounted on a longitudinal slide 6 allowing the headstock 4 to be brought in front of the sharpening wheel or wheels. The frame houses a pneumatic control and drive circuit. On the side of the frame and mounted an electric control 7 and a control console 8. On the machine is placed a store drum 9 having radial housings 10 on its periphery.
Above the drum 9 extends a bracket 11 carrying an opto-electronic device 12 allowing the observation of the position of the drill 13 to be sharpened pinched in the clamp 22 of the headstock.
The end of a drill, seen at the end, is shown in FIG. 2. There are two end edges 14 and 15. These edges are rectilinear and their sharpening is important since they are cutting edges which ensure the penetration of the drill bit into the material, in particular when this drill bit is intended for pierce printed circuits.
According to a first embodiment of the method according to the invention, the angular position of the edge 14 is detected or read by rotating the drill until the edge 14 passes in front of a fixed detector, and recording is carried out. the angular position of this edge in a memory. The drill is then rotated until the edge 15 passes in front of the detector, and the detected angular position is also recorded. By means of a simple calculator, the arithmetic average of the two measurements is carried out and this average is used to angularly position the headstock of the headstock in front of the grinding wheel or grinding wheels, that is to say to bring successively, by rotation, the edges 14 and 15 in front of the grinding wheel.
According to another form of implementation of the method, two read heads are used to simultaneously read the angular position of the two edges 14 and 15. Then we proceed as in the first example.
The detection or reading of the angular position of the edges can be done, for example, by means of a narrow beam of infrared light and an opto-electronic receiver.
According to a third embodiment of the method, an enlarged image of the end of the drill is projected onto a screen as shown in FIG. 2, and we read the angular position of the edges directly on this enlarged image, by photoelectric path.
