10. Installation according to claim 9, characterized in that it is arranged so that the starting plane formed by the fixed shelf (3) and by the movable shelf (2) can be positioned at any angle by relative to the surface before starting the folding operation.
The present invention relates to a process for folding and welding plastic panels and to the installation for its implementation.
In the machining of plastics, one of the problems is that of being able to bend a plastic panel while keeping the mechanical characteristics of the starting panel and obtaining the desired angle.
It is well known that this problem has not been solved so far in the machining of plastics. We obtain the desired angles by making the material assume a curvature with a very small radius, which has the disadvantage of reducing the thickness of the material at the place where the material has been hot bent, so that the product present finish, where there are curvatures, a weakness greater than the other points.
The problem was solved by a method according to the invention for folding and welding a plastic panel, characterized in that one enters the surface of the panel with a heated blade, that the panel is folded at the desired angle. and allowed to cool to room temperature.
The method according to the invention is implemented by an installation characterized by the fact that it is constituted by a machine comprising a blade for heating the plastic panel and for creating a groove on the panel itself, and by a second
machine comprising members for folding the panel at an angle
desired.
This produces a plastic panel which has been folded
at the desired angle and whose resistance at the point of folding is even
higher than that of departure.
Laboratory tests have verified that, if we try
breaking the plastic panel after folding, once it has cooled, you cannot break it at the corner, but on the side,
which means that the resistance is greater at the point of folding.
Another advantage of the process according to the invention is that of making it possible to considerably reduce the heating time during the machining of the plastic panel.
According to traditional systems - which use a metal wire to heat the surface where the plastic panel has to be folded back - it takes about 15 min to obtain suitable heating.
The time required according to the process which is the subject of the invention is reduced to approximately 1 min.
The invention will be better understood with the aid of the appended drawings showing, by way of example, the device for carrying out the method according to the invention. In the drawings:
fig. 1 represents a view of the device for heating the material, from three anterior quarters in perspective and in section,
fig. 2 represents a view of the device for folding the material, from three front quarters in perspective and in section, in its working position, before the folding operation,
fig. 3 shows the folding device, from three anterior quarters in perspective and in section, in the working position after the folding operation.
A In fig. 1, the device for heating the material is shown during a working operation. The material to be folded 8 is positioned on the support table 13, while the blade 9, heated by the heating body 10, enters the material to be folded until the adjustable stop 12 stops it at the end. of its course.
The blade, with the heating system 10, is moved vertically using a pneumatic system.
The blade 9, heated using the heating body 10, penetrates into the material to be folded by a predetermined distance once the stop 12 has been positioned, so as to create a heated and grooved zone in the material to be folded.
The material to be folded 8 is then positioned on a machine intended to fold and weld the material at the same time.
The bending and welding machine is shown in fig. 2 and 3. In fig. 2, the machine is seen before the folding and welding operation; in fig. 3, the same machine is in the end position for bending and welding.
In fig. 2, the material to be folded 1 is positioned on the mobile shelf 2 and on the fixed shelf 3. The support bar 4 is positioned in its working place, so as to block the material to be folded, once the piston of control 5 of the mobile tablet carries out its working stroke while driving the mobile tablet 2 around its pivot 6.
The support bar 4 is held in place by the control piston of the support bar 7.
A In fig. 3, the folding and welding operation has been carried out so that the movable shelf 2 is found to form the desired angle with the fixed shelf 3, after having turned around the pivot 6 driven by the piston 5.
The material to be folded 8, which normally is a plastic panel, thus takes the desired shape and the prefixed angle is immediately welded giving rise to a very effective weld, since it was carried out hot and the grooved edges by the heating blade 9 can meet and weld together.
We thus obtain a new form of the plastic panel having an angle which has mechanical characteristics of a resistance even greater than that of the original panel.
