The invention relates to casting resin compositions for encapsulating optoelectronic components based on acid-anhydride-curable epoxy compounds, a metal salt of a carboxylic acid, optical brighteners and auxiliaries and additives.
It is known to use translucent, acid-anhydride-curable epoxy casting resin compositions based on bisphenol A for the covering or covering of optoelectronic components (DT-OS 1 589 264).
A disadvantage of using known accelerators e.g. Tertiary amines, imidazoles, boron fluoride complexes of fast-curing epoxy casting resin compositions based on bisphenol A acid anhydride are their low heat aging resistance. The molding materials used up to now changed colorless from yellow to brown after long temperature storage> 800C, whereby their light transmission decreases significantly.
The object of the invention is to provide transparent or transparently colored, optionally light-scattering, system-compatible, well-adhering cast resin covers or cast resin coatings for optoelectronic components, which do not discolour up to at least 1200 ° C. when the heat is aged for more than 2000 hours. In addition, the components covered or encased with the casting resin compositions according to the invention should be demouldable in less than 5 minutes at a hardening temperature of 1500 ° C. The molding material produced on and around the optoelectronic components is intended to protect the functional parts of the components from mechanical damage, moisture, corrosive gases and other environmental influences. In addition, the molding material should be resistant to galvanic baths, e.g. Tinning baths.
The object was achieved according to the invention with a casting resin composition which (1) has at least one cycloaliphatic epoxy compound
Base with at least two oxirane rings in the molecule, (2) at least one carboxylic anhydride, (3) a zinc octoate, (4) at least one low molecular weight polyol and / or at least one low molecular weight acid ester and (5) contains an organic phosphorus compound.
The casting resin composition according to the invention can be hardened in a few minutes as a void-free molding material without streaking and with optically perfect surfaces.
The casting resin compositions according to the invention, colorless or optionally colored transparently, can be made from storage-stable premixes, namely the premix (A) consisting of a cycloaliphatic epoxy resin, a low molecular weight polyol, optionally together with an optical brightener, the premix (B) consisting of a carboxylic acid anhydride and a low molecular weight acid ester and the premix (C) consisting of zinc octoate, an organic phosphorus compound and a low molecular weight acid ester, optionally together with dyes. To produce light-scattering cast resin coatings according to the invention, a further storage-stable premix (D) consisting of a cycloaliphatic epoxy resin and a light-scattering, powdery material is mixed into the cast resin composition.
This division into storage-stable, flowable premixes allows mechanized or automated preparation and processing of the casting resin masses.
The cast resin molding material produced for covering or wrapping can have different shapes. He can e.g. be lenticular, cylindrical, flat or prismatic.
Cycloaliphatic epoxides suitable for producing the casting resin compositions according to the invention are e.g. 3,4-Epoxicyclohexylmethyl- (3, 4-epoxy) cyclohexane carboxylate, 2- (3, 4-Epoxy) cyclohexyl-5, 5-spiro (3, 4-epoxy) cyclohexane-m-dioxane and mixtures of both.
Suitable carboxylic anhydrides are e.g. Tetrahydrophthalic anhydride, methylhexahydrophthalic anhydride, hexahydrophthalic anhydride, dodecenyl succinic anhydride, succinic anhydride. Has proven to be particularly suitable
Hexahydrophthalic anhydride proved. Mixtures of the acid anhydrides mentioned can also be used.
A zinc octoate consisting of zinc and 2-ethylhexanoic acid residue in a molar ratio of 1: 2, corresponding to a zinc content of approx. 18% by weight, is suitable as reaction accelerator.
A zinc octoate with 21 to 22% by weight of zinc has proven to be particularly favorable. With the same proportion by weight of the accelerator, the demolding time can be reduced to less than 3 minutes at a hardening temperature of 150 ° C. even with a very small amount (<0.1 g) of casting resin. Zinc octoate is preferably used in solution together with an organic phosphorus compound Compounds are suitable for dissolving which, on the one hand, completely dissolve zinc octoate and the phosphite used and, on the other hand, form a chemical compound when hardened by at least one reactive group via an addition reaction with the resin or hardener component in order to prevent later migration of the solvent in the casting resin molding material .
The low molecular weight polyols and low molecular weight acidic carboxylic acid esters functioning as solvents can also be used as a mixture. Trimethylolpropane or 3-methylpentanediol-1, 5 and hexahydrophthalic acid monoethyl ester have proven to be particularly suitable.
Suitable organic phosphorus compounds are e.g. Diphenyldecylphosphite, triphenylphosphite, didecylphenylphosphite. Diphenyldecyl phosphite has proven to be particularly suitable. These compounds act as antioxidants and as reaction accelerators and lower the initial viscosity of the casting resin composition. The commercially available Waxoline Violett As is suitable as an optical brightener.
Suitable light-scattering, powdery materials are silicas produced by flame hydrolysis of silicon tetrachloride in the oxyhydrogen flame, commercially available as Aerosil, and synthetically produced, micronized, porous silicas, commercially available as syloido and barium sulfate, boron nitride, calcium carbonate and calcium fluoride.
For coloring the casting resin compositions according to the invention, commercially available Orasol dye (e.g. Orasol scarlet GLN, Orasol yellow 3 GLG), Waxoline dyes (e.g. Waxoline red 0), microlite dye (e.g. Mikrolith green GT) and pigment dyes (chromium oxide, color paste DW 04) be used.
The casting resin compositions according to the invention are liquid at room temperature. They have a long service life at room temperature. They are easy to dose, which makes their processing with multiple dosing devices much easier. A great advantage is the rapid demoldability of the molding materials produced from the casting resin compositions according to the invention, as a result of which the molding time is greatly reduced.
The casting resin compositions according to the invention can be used to cover or envelop optoelectronic components such as Luminescent diodes, photodiodes, phototransistors and for potting luminescent diode displays and as light-conducting resins for optoelectronic couplers can be used.
The invention is illustrated by the following examples.
