REVENDICATIONS

3. Apparatus according to claim 2, characterized in that it also comprises a connection to a member for introducing the liquid into the body of a patient, this connection being provided with a male end piece cooperating with the female end piece of the pipe.
4. Apparatus according to one of claims 2 or 3, characterized in that the female ends are protected before use by a welded cap detachable by breakage.
The present invention relates to an apparatus for introducing a liquid into the human body which can be used as an infusion, rinsing apparatus for peritoneal dialysis. This device can include a bag of I to 3 1 for example, containing a sterile solution to be introduced into the human body.
It can have a pipe which connects, on the one hand, to this pocket and, on the other hand, to a device for introducing the liquid, catheter or needle, etc. The connections between the pipe and the bag, on the one hand, and the catheter, on the other hand, can be made by conical tips, the pocket or the flow pipe generally having in the existing apparatus a male tip and the catheter a female tip.
Patients requiring continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis have a catheter permanently attached surgically. They must change the bag several times a day and less often change the tube connecting the bag to the catheter. It is of course necessary that these exchanges of material take place in the best possible hygienic conditions preventing any infections due to these manipulations.
With existing devices, the tips of which remain on the patient are female tips, it is extremely difficult to disinfect them correctly without contaminating them or without the risk of introducing disinfectant liquid into the tube or catheter and into the patient's body. cause disturbance or injury.
The present invention relates to such an apparatus tending to obviate the aforementioned drawbacks and which comprises the characteristics listed in claim 1.
The accompanying drawing illustrates schematically and by way of example an embodiment of the apparatus according to the invention.
Fig. 1 illustrates the pocket provided with its female tip.
Fig. 2 illustrates the tube for connection to a catheter.
Fig. 3 illustrates a catheter provided with its male tip.
Fig. 4 is a detail on a larger scale of a connection end piece comprising a female cone.
Fig. 5 is an end view of FIG. 4.
Fig. 6 illustrates on a large scale an end piece comprising a male cone.
The illustrated embodiment is a device for peritoneal dialysis. This device comprises a catheter 1 fixed in the peritoneum of a patient and which remains in place for a long time. This catheter I is designed to be connected to a nozzle 2 comprising a male coupling cone 3 for its connection, by
through a connection pipe 4, to a pocket 5
liquid.
We fix catheter I in the peritoneum of a patient, then we rac
cord this catheter I to a male end 2 which is closed by a
plug 6, for example made of rubber or plastic.
After this placement, the patient is left to heal for several hours, then the first bag 5 is installed, then the solution is installed in the patient's peritoneum. The plug 6 of the male end 2 is removed, the cap 7 of the female end 8 connected to the pipe 4 is detached by breakage and the female cone 9 sterile is coupled to the male cone 3 also sterile.
The other end of the pipe 4 has a male end piece 2a in all points identical to that of the catheter 1, also protected until it is used by a plug 6a.
The bag 5 comprises two eyelets 10 for hanging it from a hook and for facilitating the port by the patient, a conduit 11 closed in leaktight manner by a plug 12 allowing the injection of additives.
This pocket 5 also has an outlet conduit 13 terminated by a conical female connection end piece 8a sealed and sterile closed by a cap 7a detachable by breakage, welded to the piece 1 4a connected to the fins 1 Sa by a primer 20a tip 8a. This pocket is filled with a liquid as are the conduits 11 and 13, the plug 12 and the nozzle 8a. This construction allows sterilization of the filled assembly. This female endpiece 8a is identical in every respect to the endpiece 8 intended to be coupled to the endpiece 2 of the catheter 1.
Every day, the patient must change the bag 5 several times, and in doing so repeat each time the operations of drainage of the solution in the bag, evacuation of this bag 5 used, replacement of the latter by a new filled bag and sterile and instillation of the solution into the peritoneum. After each drainage in the empty pocket that the patient keeps on him, the patient separates the tips 8a and 2a, then he can easily disinfect the male cone 3a of the pipe 4 using a pad soaked in a disinfectant solution, before connecting the male end piece 2a to the female end piece 8a, after having detached the cap 7a, from a new sterile bag 5.
This is done without risk of contamination and easily.
In fact, since the nozzle to be cleaned and disinfected is male, this operation is very easy and effective and there is no risk of allowing the disinfectant solution to enter the pipe 4.
When the pipe 4 must be changed, the same operations are repeated between the male end 2 and the female end 8. Here also, the cone 3 to be disinfected being male, this operation is easy and without risk of infection.
It is obvious that the same apparatus can be used for infusions, rinses and irrigations, the catheter 1 then being replaced by a probe or a needle which always includes the male tip 2.
Figs. 4 to 6 illustrate in detail the male and female ends.
The male end piece 2 (fig. 6) has on one side a connection piece 16 of a pipe and on the other side the male cone 3. The body of this end piece has fins 17, facilitating its handling, general rectangular shape.
The plug 6, forcibly threaded onto the base 18 of the end piece 2, is removed just before connection to a female cone 9. This thus ensures the sterility of the male cone 3 until it is used.
The female end piece 8 (fig. 4, 5) also includes a part 19 cooperating with a pipe. Handling fins 15 are also provided. A detachable part by break 14, integral with the end piece, comprises a rupture initiator 20. This detachable part 14 is closed by a cap 7 welded to the part 14 and ensuring the sterility of the female cone 9 until it is used.
