REVENDICATIONS 1. Composé de formule
EMI1.1
2. A titre de composé de formule I selon la revendication 1, le 1- (3'-méthylbut-2'-ène- 1 '-oxy)-2-(prop-2'-ène- 1 '-oxy)propane.
(rend. 31,8%) d'un mélangede 3-(3'-méthylbut-2'-ène-1'-
oxy)propane-2-ol et 2-(3'-méthylbut-2'-ene-1'-oxy)propane-1-ol;
Eb. 77-83 /12 Torr.
RMN(CCl4): 1,07 (3H, d, J = 6cps); 1,65 (3H, s); 1,75 (3H, s);
2,6 (1H, s); 5,25 (1H, m) 6 ppm.
distillation 54 g (rend. 60,3%) d'un produit ayant Eb. 40-48V
0,2 Torr.
RMN(CCl4): 1,1 (3H,d,J = J = 6cps); 1,65(3H,s); 1,75 (3H, s);
4,9-6,2 (4H, m) 6 ppm;
I 1-(prop-2'-ène-l'-oxy)-2- (3'-méthylbut-2'-éne- J'-oxy)propane
EMI2.1
RMN(CDCl3): 1,15 (3H, d, J = 6cps); 1,65 (3 H, s); 1,75 (3H, s); 3,2-4,2 (7H, m); 5,0-6,3 (4H, m) 6 ppm;
temps de rétention(tR) = 4,56 min (5% Carbowax 20M, 130 , 3m).
1-(3'-méthylbut-2-ène-l'-oxy)-2-(prop-2'-ène-l'-oxy)propane
EMI2.2
RMN(CDCI3): 1,15 (3H, d, J = 6cps); 1,65 (3H, s); 1,75 (3H, s); 3,2-4,2 (7H, m); 5,0-6,3 (4H, m) 6 ppm;
tR = 4,68 min (5% Carbowax 20M, 130 , 3m).
EMI2.3
par chromatographie préparative en phase gazeuse.
RMN(CCl4): 1,05 (3H, d, J = 6cps); 1,65 (3H, s); 1,75 (3H, s); 2,6 (1H, s); 2,9-3,4 (2H, m); 3,5-3,8 (1H, m); 3,9 (2H, d, J = 8cps); 5,05-5,4 (1H, m) # ppm;
IR(film): 3400, 2900, 1680, 1390, 1100 cm-l;
tR: 6,72 min.
Son isomère de formule

CLAIMS 1. Compound of formula
EMI1.1
2. As a compound of formula I according to claim 1, 1- (3'-methylbut-2'-ene-1 '-oxy) -2- (prop-2'-en- 1' -oxy) propane .
3. As the compound of formula I according to claim 1, 1 (prop-2'-ene-l'-oxy) -2- (3'-methylbut-2'-éne-l'-oxy) propane.
The invention relates to novel unsaturated compounds, derived from propylene glycol, useful in the perfume industry. It is defined in the claims.
In its search for large-scale production of odorants, the perfume industry is constantly led to try to convert odorless compounds, easily accessible on the market and inexpensive, into valuable perfume ingredients.
During this approach, it was surprisingly discovered that certain compounds derived from propylene glycol and, more precisely, those described by means of the formula
EMI1.2
had interesting organoleptic properties and could therefore, advantageously be used as perfuming ingredients during the preparation of perfumes, perfuming bases or perfumed products for example. It is quite remarkable in this connection to note that various analogous compounds, in particular certain derivatives of ethylene glycol, are already cited in the scientific literature, but that none of them has such a pronounced and interesting odoriferous character. than that of the compounds of for mule.
The compound of formula
EMI1.3
for example, is cited in J. Amer. Chem. Soc. , 60, 1264 (1938) as presenting a musty odor reminiscent of that of mushrooms, like that of neighboring compounds, of formulas
EMI1.4
[see on this subject Chem. Abstr. , 1936,1,4711 and Canad. J. Res. , 8, 208 (193311.
The compound of formula
EMI1.5
has a spicy-like smell [see Angew. Chem. , 60, 294 (1948)], but the latter, no more than the compounds cited above, has met with particular interest in the perfume industry.
The compounds of formula I develop, contrary to what one might expect from the above, an odor of the green, natural, fleeting, slightly floral, aromatic type. Given their particular organoleptic properties, the compounds of formula I can be used extensively, in particular for the preparation of flowery-type compositions to which they confer a highly appreciated natural side.
Said compounds can also be advantageously used for the preparation of scented products such as soaps, detergents, ambient air deodorants, cleaning products or cosmetic products such as beauty creams, powders, body deodorants or shampoos for example.
1- (3'-methylbut-2'-ene-1'-oxy) -2- (prop-2'-en-1 '-oxy) propane and 1- (prop-2'-en-l' -oxy) -2- (3'-methylbut-2'-en-l'-oxy) propane can be obtained from propylene glycol, after treatment of the latter in an acid medium using 2-methylbut-3-ene 2-ol, followed by addition of allyl halide on the secondary alcohol previously obtained.
The first step of this synthesis makes it possible to obtain a carbinol whose structure can be defined as follows:
EMI1.6
The methyl group can indeed be linked in position I or 2, this
which means that the allyl ether (I) obtained after treatment with a
allyl halide can also be in the form of a
isomeric mixture.
The mixture of compounds of formula I as obtained according to the
synthetic method above is perfectly suited to any
practical and industrial use. If desired, the constituents of such
mixture can be separated using standard techniques,
such as preparative gas chromatography for example.
Example (temperatures in degrees centigrade)
at. A mixture of 200 g of propylene glycol, 214 g of 2-methylbut-3
ene-2-ol and 20 g of acid diatomaceous earth was kept under
agitation for 20 h at about 90. After cooling and
filtration, extracted with diethyl ether (11), then the extracts
organics were washed with water, dried over sodium sulfate
anhydrous and, finally, concentrated.
By distillation of the residue thus obtained, 114 g could be collected
(yield 31.8%) of a mixture of 3- (3'-methylbut-2'-ene-1'-
oxy) propane-2-ol and 2- (3'-methylbut-2'-ene-1'-oxy) propane-1-ol;
Eb. 77-83 / 12 Torr.
NMR (CCl4): 1.07 (3H, d, J = 6cps); 1.65 (3H, s); 1.75 (3H, s);
2.6 (1H, s); 5.25 (1H, m) 6 ppm.
b. A solution of the carbinol obtained under letter a (70 g), in
500 ml of anhydrous tetrahydrofuran was added dropwise,
for 20 min and with stirring, to a suspension of 12 g of hydride
sodium in 500 ml of anhydrous tetrahydrofuran. The mixture has
kept stirring at room temperature for 1 1/2 h,
then 60 g of allyl bromide in 120 ml of tetrahydrofuran have
added, and the whole was kept under stirring for 16 h at 70 ".
After cooling, the excess sodium hydride was decomposed
posed with 5 ml of methanol and the mixture was evaporated to dryness. The
residue was then extracted with ether (250 ml) and the organic extracts
washed with water (200 ml). After drying over Na2 SO4, it was collected by
distillation 54 g (yield 60.3%) of a product having Eb. 40-48V
0.2 Torr.
NMR (CCl4): 1.1 (3H, d, J = J = 6cps); 1.65 (3H, s); 1.75 (3H, s);
4.9-6.2 (4H, m) 6 ppm;
IR (film): 1690, 1660, 1470, 1390, 1100 and 940-1.
The product thus obtained consists of a mixture of the two compounds defined below:
I 1- (prop-2'-ene-l'-oxy) -2- (3'-methylbut-2'-éne- J'-oxy) propane
EMI2.1
NMR (CDCl3): 1.15 (3H, d, J = 6cps); 1.65 (3H, s); 1.75 (3H, s); 3.2-4.2 (7H, m); 5.0-6.3 (4H, m) 6 ppm;
retention time (tR) = 4.56 min (5% Carbowax 20M, 130, 3m).
1- (3'-methylbut-2-ene-l'-oxy) -2- (prop-2'-en-l'-oxy) propane
EMI2.2
NMR (CDCI3): 1.15 (3H, d, J = 6cps); 1.65 (3H, s); 1.75 (3H, s); 3.2-4.2 (7H, m); 5.0-6.3 (4H, m) 6 ppm;
tR = 4.68 min (5% Carbowax 20M, 130, 3m).
It has been observed that such separation is easier when it is applied to the mixture of carbinols obtained during the first step (see under letter a). Thus, by using a Carbowaxs 20M type column (120.5%, 3m), it was possible to isolate from said mixture the carbinol of formula
EMI2.3
by preparative gas chromatography.
NMR (CCl4): 1.05 (3H, d, J = 6cps); 1.65 (3H, s); 1.75 (3H, s); 2.6 (1H, s); 2.9-3.4 (2H, m); 3.5-3.8 (1H, m); 3.9 (2H, d, J = 8cps); 5.05-5.4 (1H, m) # ppm;
IR (film): 3400, 2900, 1680, 1390, 1100 cm-l;
tR: 6.72 min.
Its formula isomer
EMI2.4
present in the mixture at about 30%, presents the following analytical data:
NMR (CCl4): 1.07 (3H, d, J = 6cps); 1.67 (3H, s); 1.75 (3H, s); 2.65 (1H, s); 3.4 (3H, m); 3.95 (2H, d, J = 8cps); 5.1-5.45 (1H, m)
Gppm;
IR (film): 3400.2900, 1680, 1390, 1100cm-1; tR = 8.88 min.
