Fig. 1 schematisch eine Spritzgiessmaschine in Seitenansicht,
Fig. 4 eine zweite und
A main problem with stack molds is the sprue distributor, which leads the molding compound to the individual mold nests. So far, constructions are known in which the sprue distributor is not heated. The sprue distributor must then usually be removed from the mold every cycle. This not only has the disadvantage that avoidable waste occurs, but there are also often different sprue resistances for the individual mold cavities on the floors, making it impossible to fill the mold cavities evenly. In addition, the demoulding of the sprue distributor can be an additional source of interference in the fully automatic operation of the tool. These disadvantages led to the construction of a heated sprue distributor, also called a hot runner distributor, in which the molding compound is kept in the plastic state.
In a known construction of this type, the injection molding machine is first guided via a heated sprue pipe from the nozzle of the injection unit of the injection molding machine through the immovable main part of the tool into the movable, central main part of the same. The sprue pipe is firmly connected to the central main part of the tool and follows its closing and opening movement. A disadvantage of this known construction is that it is not possible to build tools with only one mold cavity per floor, because the centrally located sprue pipe would prevent demolding. But even if there are several mold nests on each floor, there is a risk that the molded parts on the nozzle-side floor will fall onto the hot sprue pipe and be damaged during demolding. Another disadvantage
This known design consists in the fact that the molding compound enclosed in the hot runner and under pressure is relaxed when the injection unit is lifted off the sprue pipe, which is now open, and can emerge from it. This leads to leakage losses and contamination of the tool and the clamping plate, which interferes with the fully automatic operation of the tool.
In a further known construction of a hot runner distributor, this is parallel to the tool parting surfaces and requires lateral injection with an injection unit, the axis of which is also parallel to the tool parting surfaces. With this arrangement it is possible to build tools with only one mold cavity per level, but it generally requires a very long hot runner with a large pressure drop and a long residence time of the molding compound.
In addition, an expensive special machine is required, which enables injection molding parallel to the tool parting surfaces.
The object of the present invention is to provide a hot runner sprue distributor which, on the one hand, enables the construction of stack molds with only one mold cavity per stack and on the other hand avoids all the disadvantages mentioned above of previously known constructions.
Another object of the invention is to provide a hot runner sprue distributor with the smallest possible volume, short flow paths and thus short dwell time for the molding compounds. This avoids thermal damage to the molding compound and the required spraying performance of the machine is kept as low as possible. This is of great importance for the economy of a stack mold.
Another object of the invention is to enable the use of a standard injection molding machine for multi-level molds with only one mold cavity per level, in which the injection takes place perpendicular to the mold parting surfaces. This is also of crucial importance for the economical use of stack molds.
Another object of the invention is to allow unhindered demolding of the nozzle-side tier in tier molds with several mold nests per tier and to avoid restrictions in the arrangement of the mold nests.
To achieve this object, the injection molding machine according to the invention is characterized in that the sprue bushing leading from the nozzle to the first parting plane between the first and third tool part and provided in the first part of the tool is aligned on the outlet side with the inlet of a sprue distributor provided in the third part of the tool and connected to the second parting plane Prevention of spray compound leakage are assigned in the open form.
In the following the invention is described for example with reference to the drawing; in the drawing shows:
1 schematically shows an injection molding machine in side view,
2 shows a first embodiment of the tool section of a machine according to the invention in axial section,
3 on a larger scale the hot runner distribution device of the embodiment according to FIG. 2,
Fig. 4 shows a second and
5 shows a third embodiment of the tool section analogous to FIG. 2.
The plastic injection molding machine shown in FIG. 1 has in the usual way a horizontal plasticizing and injection unit 2 mounted on the machine frame 1 and a form-locking and locking unit 3 coaxial therewith. The plasticizing and injection unit has a heated, feedable via a filling funnel 4 Cylinder 5 with screw conveyor and injection nozzle; the latter protrudes centrally through a mold clamping plate 6 of the closing and locking unit which is firmly supported on the frame 1 and to which a second mold clamping plate 7 which is movable by corresponding drives of this unit is assigned; these clamping plates 6, 7 carry the three-part mold 8, which is designed as a stack mold and is perpendicular to the spray axis (drawn in the open position in FIG. 1).
FIG. 2 shows such a tool 8, in which two levels are formed between the tool parts 8a, 8b, 8c, by two separating planes perpendicular to the spray axis a, a mold cavity 9a or 9b being formed coaxial to the spray axis; as can be seen, both serve to produce a flat, thin-walled injection molding. The tool 8 is drawn in the closed position. The injection unit 2 protrudes with the nozzle 10 attached to the end of the cylinder 5 through the central opening of the fixed platen 6 into a sprue bushing 12 heated by means of a heating jacket 11, which is fixed in the tool part 8a attached to the platen 6 and with its narrowed nozzle opening into it formed mold cavity 9a opens between the tool parts 8a, 8c.
By pressing the nozzle 10 against the sprue bush 12, an outwardly tight connection between these two parts is ensured. The limited mobility of the central tool part 8c with respect to the tool parts 8a, 8b fastened to the clamping plates 7 for the purpose of opening the mold 8 is ensured by corresponding guide bolts 13. The tool parts 8a, 8b, 8c, are in the spraying process over the platen 6, 7, by a corresponding, acting on the plate 7 in the direction of arrow A z. B. a toggle lever and / or a hy draulic engine of the closing and locking unit 3 pressed against each other to prevent the opening of the tool by the injection pressure in the mold nests 9a, 9b.
As can be seen in particular in FIG. 3, which shows the details essential to the invention, the nozzle 10 seals against the sprue bush 12 via the sealing surfaces 14 and 15. This prevents the molding compound from escaping. The sprue bushing 12 is electrically heated by the heating tape 11. However, it is also possible, particularly with short cycle times, to dispense with the heating tape and to carry out the necessary heating of the sprue bushing 12 exclusively via the heat content of the molding compound. The contact pressure of the injection unit 2 is transmitted to the cooled insert 17 via the end face 16, the contact area between the parts 12 and 17 being kept as small as possible in order to keep the heat flow from the sprue bush 12 as low as possible. This can be achieved, for example, by recesses 18.
The nozzle needle 19 can be moved axially by a known hydraulic actuating device, not shown. In Fig. 3 the nozzle needle is drawn in the open position. In the closed position, the conical surfaces 20a and 20b come to lie on one another and seal the interior 20c of the sprue bush 12 against the mold cavity 9a, so that no molding compound can escape during the demolding. However, the nozzle needle 19 can also be omitted if a suitable other device is used to ensure that the pressure in the interior 20a of the sprue bush 12 relaxes in the direction of the injection unit 2 before the tool is opened. The seal between the mold cavity 9a and the outer space of the tool takes place via the cylindrical surfaces 21, 22 of the parts 12 and 17.
The movable middle part 8c of the tool 8 carries cooled inserts 23 and 24, which correspond to the insert 17 in their function. The cooling can take place, for example, via bores 25, 26, 27, the coolant being supplied via bores 28, 29, 30. The actual hot runner 31, which leads from the mold cavity 9a to the mold cavity 9b in alignment with the sprue bush in the movable tool part 8c, is enclosed by heated inserts 32, 33.
The electrical heating of the hot runner 31 takes place on the one hand via heating tapes 34, 35 and an annular heating rod 36, and on the other hand via heating cartridges 37, 38 which are arranged inside the inserts 39 and 40. The inserts 39, 40 are advantageously made of a good heat-conducting material such as beryllium copper and have the task of producing a uniform temperature distribution within the hot runner 31 and in particular of heating the point gates 41, 42. This makes it possible to design the point gates 41, 42 with a small cross-section, so that there are no annoying sprue markings on the molded parts. On the other hand, this prevents the molding compound from solidifying at the point gates 41, 42. The cylindrical sealing surfaces 43, 44, 45 and 46 seal the mold cavities 9a and 9b to the outside and correspond in this function to the sealing surfaces 21, 22.
The end faces 50 and 51, like the end face 16, are kept as small as possible in order to keep the heat flow from the hot runner 31 into the cooled inserts 23 and 24 as small as possible. The same applies to the cylindrical sealing surfaces 21, 22, 43, 44, 45 and 46. The insert 32 is provided with a cylindrical bore 47 in which a piston 48 moves axially with little play. The bushing 49 pressed in part 32 serves for sealing and additional guidance of the piston 48 and can be replaced when worn. The diameter play between the piston 48 and the sleeve 49 is advantageously approximately 0.02 mm, so that on the one hand the easy axial mobility of the piston is made possible and on the other hand the leakage material flow remains as low as possible.
The piston 48 is actuated by an electrical or hydraulic actuating device, not shown, the piston stroke is adjustable and is adapted to the molding compound to be processed. In the position shown, the end face 52 of the piston 48 is flush with the wall of the hot runner 31, so that there is no dead space in which the molding compound could be thermally damaged. For highly viscous molding compounds in which there is no risk of mass leakage through the point gates 41, 42, the hot runner sprue distributor 31 can also be used without a bore 47, bushing 49 and piston 48. In such cases there is also the possibility of fixing the piston 48 in the forward position 52.
The tool according to the invention works in the following way:
In the drawn position of the tool 8, the injection unit 2 presses the molding compound into the mold cavity 9a with the nozzle needle 19 open. At the same time, the molding compound flows through the point gate 41, the hot runner 31 and the point gate 42 into the mold cavity 9b. After the spraying process has ended and the holding pressure and cooling time have elapsed, the nozzle needle 19 is closed and the piston 48 is withdrawn, so that its end face is displaced into the position 53. As a result, the pressure of the molding compound in the hot runner 31 drops and leakage material leakage via the point gates 41 and 42 is prevented when the mold is subsequently opened.
Both tool levels are opened via the movable platen 7 in a known manner, the movable central part 8c of the tool 8 being brought into the position suitable for ejecting the two molded parts by mechanical or hydraulic devices. After the molded parts have been ejected, the tool is closed again, the piston 48 is pushed back into position 52 and, at the same time, the nozzle needle 19 is opened. The tool is now ready for the next injection cycle.
In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, each tool level has only one mold cavity. Without departing from the basic idea of the invention, however, a plurality of mold cavities per level are also possible, the molding compound being able to be distributed within the tool part 8c in either heated or unheated sprue distributors. In this case, too, the advantages of the invention come into their own because the arrangement of the mold cavities and the failure of the molded parts is possible without obstruction by the sprue tube 12.
4 shows an embodiment of a stack mold with a hot runner sprue distributor according to the invention, the hot runner 3a being connected to sprue nozzles 56a, 56b via heated distribution channels 54. The distribution channels are heated by electrical heating elements 55. The sprue nozzles 56a, 56b advantageously consist of a material which is a good conductor of heat, for example beryllium copper, and are electrically heated by means of the heating tapes 57a, 57b. Unheated sprue nozzles are also possible. The sprue nozzles 56a, 56b guide the molding compound into the mold cavities 59, 60 via point gates 58a, 58b.
5 shows a further exemplary embodiment of a stack mold with a hot runner sprue distributor according to the invention. The hot runner 31b leads the molding compound to the mold nests 65, 66 via unheated distribution channels 61, 62 and point gates 63, 64 or tunnel gates 63a, 64a.
The distributor channels 61, 62 are removed from the mold together with the molded parts 65, 66 in each cycle.
Otherwise, the embodiments according to FIGS. 4 and 5 correspond to those according to FIGS. 2 and 3.
From the foregoing, it can be seen that in all cases with an injection molding machine that is designed for spraying perpendicular to the mold parting plane (which is known to be the simplest machine shape), stack molds with all conceivable mold cavity arrangements can be used, which leads to an unprecedented level of economy in machine utilization.
It goes without saying that, according to the same principle, stacked tools that are divided into four or more storeys, that is to say those with two or more movable molded parts, can be designed in the manner described; However, it is essential in any case that the nozzle-side tool part and the movable tool parts have independent hot channels that are mutually independent in the respective parting plane of the tool, which on the one hand cannot prevent demolding and any number and arrangement of the mold cavities in the parting planes allow and, on the other hand, all sprue distribution channels opening into the parting planes are provided with means which, when the tool is opened, prevent mass flow out of these channels despite the plastic material remaining plastic.
