The display device comprises several transparent electrode plates (20-22) bearing various configurations of transparent electrode segments (25), so as to allow the composing and displaying of markings, digits or signs by combining selected electrode segments on the said plates. This arrangement is provided mainly for the displaying of the days of the week in an electric watch. <IMAGE>
