z1
n3 = n2 # (Z2/Z3) - n où l'on voit que
n3= o si
n2 # (Z2/Z3) = n c'est-à-dire si
n2 = n # (Z3/Z2)
Si
n2 > n # ## on obtient:
EMI2.1

9. Hydrodynamic speed variator according to claim 1, characterized by members making it possible to vary at will the quantity of fluid contained inside each distributor wheel, falcon to adapt the torque or the output speed to the requirements of the machine. to train.
The hydraulic speed adjustment is a problem now solved, either by hydrostatic reducers, or by hydrodynamics.
However, both have a small adjustment range and low efficiency, especially around the highest reduction ratios,
The aim of the invention is to overcome this drawback.
The hydrodynamic speed variator according to the invention is characterized in that the drive torque is transmitted by the action of centrifugal force acting on a fluid which only partially fills the interior volume of at least two pairs of coaxial wheels. , whose axis of rotation is parallel to the main axis, around which they rotate, as a satellite, each pair being constituted by a metering wheel open inwardly,
driven by a coaxial toothed wheel meshing with a fixed common toothed wheel and coaxial with the main axis of rotation, intended by its blading to bring the fluid towards this axis and by another drive wheel with open blading outwards, intended for provide the output torque, under the effect of the centrifugal force which tends to move the fluid away from the main axis of rotation, each drive wheel being connected to a coaxial toothed wheel, meshing in a common toothed wheel, coaxial with the main axis and mounted on the drive housing,
taking into account the fact that the force 'passage of the fluid from each metering wheel into the corresponding drive wheel takes place in the vicinity of the main axis, while the force return of this fluid from each drive wheel into the corresponding metering wheel takes place in the position furthest from the main axis, on the one hand and that, on the other hand, the passage of the energy of the fluid in the metering and driving wheels takes place practically without any relative movement between fluid and vane.
This hydrodynamic variator has, on the one hand, the advantage of having an adjustment field which extends from zero speed - driven shaft at standstill - to a speed which can reach a value greater than that of the driving shaft. and, on the other hand, the advantage of having a high efficiency.
This hydrodynamic speed variator is able to reduce or increase the speed of rotation of any drive motor, at constant power or not, intended to drive all kinds of machines or devices requiring either an automatic adaptation of the number of revolutions to the value of the torque to be overcome (at constant power), i.e. a controlled adjustment of this number of revolutions (at variable power).
This variator can find an application, for example in the drive of motor vehicles, due to the following peculiarities: - the rotational speed of the driven shaft can decrease to zero, without the output torque exceeding a maximum determined - this rotational speed may increase gradually and asymptotically towards a maximum, as the output torque decreases. The output speed may exceed the input speed.
- The range of variation of the reduction ratio can be sufficiently large to make the use of any additional gear trains superfluous.
Embodiments of the variator which is the subject of the invention will be described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 shows a longitudinal section passing through the main axis.
Fig. 2 is a view in partial section, along the line A-A of FIG. 1
Fig. 3 is a sectional view along the line B-B of FIG. 1.
Fig. 4 is a sectional view along the line C-C of FIG. 1.
Fig. 5 is a sectional view of a pair of metering and driving wheels, along line B-B of FIG. 1.
Fig. 6 is a schematic representation of the variator, in which all the toothed wheels are externally toothed.
Fig. 7 is a schematic representation of the variator,
in which the fixed planetary toothed wheel and the output one are internally toothed.
Fig. 8 is a schematic representation of the variator, in which only the output planetary gear is internally toothed,
Fig. 9 is a schematic representation of the variator, in which only the fixed planetary toothed wheel is internally toothed.
In fig. 1, the driving shaft g drives the rotating housing j contained in the fixed outer housing i, at the speed of rotation
not. The cogwheels turned like satellites around
of the fixed toothed wheel b with which they mesh, are
animated, with respect to the housing j which supports their shaft k
leaning in turn on the support q, of the relative speed
z
n1 = n which is also that of the vane metering wheels e, calves on the common shaft k. Between each metering wheel e and its corresponding driving wheel f resting on the bearings u and r respectively and forming a pair, there is a transformation of the torque and of the speed of rotation, as will be explained later, the speed of rotation of the wheel f being n2.
The rotating housing j is provided with the two ends of the shaft m and g or driving shaft, which are supported on the bearings t and b respectively.
The toothed wheels c set with the wheels f on the same shaft 1 resting on the bearing s, turning like satellites around the output planetary toothed wheel d with which they mesh, print to this last and consequently to the driven shaft h provided with bearings o and on which d is wedged, a rotational movement of speed n3. The directions of the different rotational speeds are visible in fig. 2, 3 and 4.
Fig. 5 which represents, in principle, a transverse section of a metering wheel - driving wheel pair allows to examine the process of filling and emptying of the blades of these wheels under the effect of centrifugal forces, as well as the action of those here on the blades in question. The rotation around the center o (corresponding to the main axis of the variator) at speed n, generates on each fluid particle contained in the blades of f and e the centrifugal forces F and Fd respectively, which produce, with respect to the center of rotation ol of the fe pair, the engine torque on the one hand and the resistant torque on the other hand.
The driving torque due to each element of fluid contained in the blade of f will be equal to the product of Fc by the distance from its vector to the center ol and likewise the resistant torque due to each element of fluid contained in the blade of e will be equal to the product of F by the distance from its vector to the same center ol. Note that each fluid element contained in the blading of f is also subjected to the effect of the centrifugal force F from ol and due to the rotation n2, on the one hand, and each fluid element contained in the blading of e is also subjected to the effect of the centrifugal force Fd, coming from the same point ol and due to the rotation nl, on the other hand.
These two forces Fc, and F do not produce any work with respect to @@, since their vectors converge there, but have an influence as important as that of the forces F and Fed on the shape of the free surface of the fluid in each vane of f and e.
The calculations show that the sections of these surfaces by the plane of the figure are circles whose center is between o and ol and precisely in Od for the metering wheels e and in om for the driving wheels f and the distances o Od and O Om will be fixed by the ratio between n and m and between n and n2 respectively. Since the ratio between n and ni is constant being a constructive datum, the point Od will have a fixed position, which is not the case for the point o @
Operation at constant power can be explained by the following falcon:
A certain value of n corresponds to a determined value of m.
Consequently, the quantity of fluid contained in the vane of the wheel e and returned to the center of the system is constant, as long as it is also constant. This constant flow of fluid passes, under the action of centrifugal forces, in the blading of the wheel f which is driven at a speed n2. If, for example, the resisting torque acting on the driven shaft h and consequently on the wheel f decreases, n2 will increase and, since the quantity of fluid available remains constant because it is delivered by the wheel e, each vane of the wheel f will be filled. more. The torque exerted by the force F, 'with respect to ol will increase at the same time to adapt to the new value of n2, the product of the torque by the speed and therefore the power remaining constant.
The quantity of fluid contained inside each pair of wheels e-f and in particular that which can be contained by the wheel f must be fixed so that full blading corresponds to the maximum desired torque.
Variable and controllable power operation can be explained from the following falcon:
Suppose that on the perimeter of each metering wheel e there are very small openings at the level of each blade allowing the fluid to escape under the effect of centrifugal forces. This fluid would be collected by a device provided with a volume VR variable at will and with a pump which would return the fluid to the circuit by passing through appropriate openings provided for example in the shaft g, the rotating housing j,
The shaft k and finally in the wheels e-f.
It would thus be possible to vary the quantity of fluid contained in each pair of wheels ef by varying the volume VR, which would have as consequence a variation, on command, of the centrifugal forces Fdc and F, doac of the output torque, independently the speed of rotation. The value of the power transmitted by the drive could thus be brought under control.
Here are some formulas applicable to the drive kinematics system:
z ni =
z1
n3 = n2 # (Z2 / Z3) - n where we see that
n3 = o if
n2 # (Z2 / Z3) = n i.e. if
n2 = n # (Z3 / Z2)
Yes
n2> n # ## we get:
EMI2.1
So n3 always has an inverse sense to n, for this execution
tion. The interior volume of each pair of e-f wheels is occupied by the fluid which transmits the torque on the one hand and by
air, on the other hand. In order to prevent the escape of the fluid, the elements
swivels are provided with seals; sealing towards the outside, in the case of fig. 1, to the right of the landing u.
In order to avoid the possible formation of scum or an emulsion of the fluid, the internal volume can be connected with a small vacuum pump which evacuates the air with a sufficient vacuum. The connection with the pump can be made, for example, by holes provided through the following elements: shafts k - bearings q - rotating casing j - shaft g - bearing p - fixed casing i - vacuum pump.
The choice of the fluid contained in each pair of ef wheels must be dictated by the following criteria: - not to be chemically aggressive - not to be volatile - to have a viscosity favorable to good flow between the metering wheels e and driving f and vice versa .
- have a specific weight as high as possible, compatible with the other characteristics, so as to give rise to the highest centrifugal forces and thus allow a reduction in the dimensions of the variator.
