Abstract

In order to clad a roller made of silica or of metal, a tubular sheath made from braided glass fibres is coated on the outside with a dispersion of curable silicone elastomer, it is left to dry, the roller is coated with a silicone adhesive, the sheath is turned inside out over 5 cm at one of its ends, the inside-out part is slipped over the roller coated with adhesive, then the remainder of the sheath is progressively turned inside out over the roller, the sheath is stretched longitudinally over the roller and the adhesive is left to dry. The clad roller can serve as a transporter roller in a device for transporting glass sheets horizontally.
