Abstract

This selective protection device comprises limiter circuit breakers arranged in series at several levels of an electrical power circuit. Each limiter circuit breaker comprises a tripping control and a device for rapid opening of the contacts in the event of a fault. The tripping control comprises a counter (10) of successive cycles of rapid opening and closing of the contacts so as to bring about definitive tripping after a predetermined number of cycles. The counter (10) comprises a system of rocking vanes (12, 14), each vane unlocking in the active position the following vane which becomes active on the next pulse. The vane associated with the last step moves a unit (64) into the active position bringing about the tripping of the circuit breaker. <IMAGE>
