Abstract

The process for the treatment of aluminous materials, especially of furnace foam, dross and other metallic residues, with a view to recovering aluminium, consists in introducing the aluminous material to be treated into a layer of a liquid saline flux, for example a NaCl/KCl mixture, optionally with a fluoride, this layer of flux floating at the surface of a mass of liquid aluminium; this aluminous material is then stirred with the flux so that practically all the aluminium present in this aluminous material passes into the mass of liquid aluminium.
