Fig. 3 eine schematische Darstellung der Absperreinrichtung und

The invention relates to a device for monitoring the continuous flow of a liquid through a flexible, transparent tube.
With the increasing use of central venous catheterization for administering infusions, the risk of air embolism has increased dramatically. This danger requires increased attention from the nurse, doctor and paramedical staff.
It is well known that careful monitoring of the infusions is made more difficult, especially during night watch and when the staff is overloaded during emergencies. Catheterized shock patients pose a further danger, as they suddenly straighten up and generate negative venous pressure and thus enable air to be aspirated when the infusion is running low.
These dangers are successfully avoided today with infusion pumps.
The aim of the invention is to create a device that is easy to use and maintain, as well as being reliable and cheap.
This goal is achieved according to the invention with the device mentioned at the beginning by a housing consisting of two housing parts that can be folded up and closed with one another and by a voltage source arranged in the housing, a scanning device having a lamp and a photocell for generating an electrical signal when the Liquid, through a shut-off device that responds to the signal for shutting off the pipe and an alarm device with an optical and / or acoustic signal transmitter to indicate the interruption.
By using the device to monitor the delivery of an infusion solution to a patient, it is possible to monitor infusions in which a drop delivery can be set in the usual way and to monitor infusions under pressure.
An exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawing. Show it:
1 shows a three-dimensional view of a device for monitoring the infusion in a patient,
Fig. 2 is a diagram of the electrical part of the device in Fig. 1,
Fig. 3 is a schematic representation of the shut-off device and
4 shows a detail of the device, which shows the locking device and the scanning device.
The device is described below with reference to FIGS. 1 to 4.
The device is designed as a cuboid housing 1.
The housing 1 consists of two sub-housings 2, 3, which are connected on one long side by hinges. The housing parts 2, 3 are closed on all sides and have grooves 6 in the surfaces that lie against one another when the housing is closed, which when the housing is closed form a passage with a round cross-section. The cross section of the passage is designed in such a way that an infusion tube 7 enclosed by the housing 1 completely fills it. Closing devices are also provided on the housing which hold the housing parts 2, 3 together in such a way that the device 1 is clamped and held on the infusion tube 7.
The device 1 essentially has a scanning device, a shut-off device and an alarm device, which are arranged in the housing parts 2, 3. The scanning device consists of a lamp 10, a photo cell 11 and a circuit arrangement 12 which is connected downstream of the photo cell 11. The lamp 10 and the photocell 11 are arranged around the circumference of the groove 6 close to one of the Stireiten in one of the housing parts. The circuit arrangement 12 is accommodated in the same housing part and consists essentially of an RC element 31, an amplifier 30 and a relay 32.
The shut-off device, which is shown schematically in FIG. 3, has a motor 15, on the drive shaft 16 of which an eccentric disk 17 is attached. One end of a lever 18 rests on the eccentric disk 17. At the other end of the lever 18 a wedge-shaped part 19 is attached.
Furthermore, a compression spring 20 is provided, which is arranged between the wedge-shaped part 18 and the base of the housing part 3. Near the other end face in the housing part 3, a first opening 21 is provided in the region of the groove 6, below which the wedge-shaped part 19 lies. In the opposite surface of the other housing part 2, a second opening 22 is provided which is aligned with the first opening 21. A plate 23, which is held by the housing part 2, is inserted into the second opening 22. The lever 18 is mounted on a support 24. A microswitch 25, which is actuated by the pivoting movement of the lever 18, is arranged between the support 24 and the eccentric disk 17.
The alarm device consists of a buzzer 13 and a light-emitting diode 14.
The voltage source consists of a first or working battery 40 and a second or reserve battery 41. The batteries 40, 41 are leak-proof and overcharging is prevented by two devices 42, 43. A voltage detector 44 is connected across the service battery 40. The voltage detector 44 monitors the battery voltage and switches on the reserve battery 41 if the battery voltage of the working battery falls below a certain value, whereby the alarm device is switched on at the same time.
A part 45 of a connector device is provided on the housing in order to be able to connect the device to a battery charger (not shown).
Two further microswitches 27, 28 are also provided in the housing parts 2, 3, one switch 27 being arranged in a housing part in such a way that its actuating member is actuated by the other housing part when the housing is folded up. The actuating member of the other micro-switch 28 protrudes into the groove 6 and is actuated by the infusion tube 7 located in the groove 6 when the housing is folded up.
The function of the device is described below with the aid of the diagram shown in FIG. The state of the device shown in the diagram corresponds to that shown in Fig. 1, i.e. the device has been removed from an infusion set, after which the device has interrupted the infusion by actuating the shut-off device due to the absence of the fusion liquid. By opening the device, the switch 27 has been actuated and has closed a circuit connected to the motor 15 via the switch 25. The motor 15 is put into operation. As a result, the wedge-shaped part 19 is withdrawn from the groove 6 by means of the eccentric disk 17 via the lever 18. Simultaneously with this, the spring 20 arranged below the part 19 is compressed.
If the lever 18 has been pivoted through a certain angle by the rotating E :: center disk 17, the switch 25 is actuated and the circuit to the motor is interrupted. The motor 15 stops and the device is ready for operation.
If the device is now placed on an infusion tube 7 and closed, switches 27 and 28 are actuated.
This closes the circuit from the battery 26 via a diode 29 and the switch 27, which is also actuated, to the lamp 10 and to an electronic component 30. The device is now in operation.
The light originating from the lamp 10 is refracted by the liquid in the infusion tube 7, as a result of which a voltage is generated at the output of the photocell 11. At the moment when there is no liquid in the infusion tube 7, the voltage at the output of the photocell 11 drops.
This voltage drop causes the capacitor of an RC element 31 to be discharged, so that the voltage at the input of an amplifier in the electronic component 30 drops after a certain time that can be set on the RC element 31 has elapsed. This has the effect that a relay 32 connected downstream of the amplifier drops out. This closes the circuit from battery 40 via switches 25, 27 and 28 to motor 15. The motor 15 is put into operation. By rotating the eccentric disk 17, the lever 18 is released and the wedge-shaped part 19 is pressed by the spring 20 against the infusion tube 7 and the flow of the infusion solution is interrupted. The lever 18 released by the eccentric disk 17 actuates the switch 25, which switches off the motor 15.
The alarm device is switched on by the relay that drops out, so that a buzzing tone sounds and a signal lamp lights up.
If the device is now removed from the infusion tube by opening the locking devices, the switch 27 is actuated when the housing parts 2, 3 are unfolded.
This switches off the alarm device and closes the circuit from the battery 40 to the motor 15 in order to reset the shut-off device and to make the device ready for operation again.
The electrical circuit is designed according to the open-circuit principle, i.e. H. the relay 32 is energized during operation.
This ensures that if one of the electrical parts 13, 14, 29, 30, 31, 32 fails, the infusion tube is always disconnected and the alarm device responds.
