Fig. 1 eine erfindungsgemässe Metallspritzpistole in Seitenansicht.
Fig. 2 einen Schnitt nach der Linie II-II der Fig. 1.
5 in Verbindung steht.
So z.B.
The invention relates to a metal spray gun in which a low-melting metal, in particular tin, is melted in a flame-heated crucible attached to the gun body and the metal melt flowing into a spray nozzle through a bottom opening of the crucible is sprayed out with the aid of an atomizing gas supplied under pressure, in particular compressed air.
A disadvantage of known metal spray guns of this type is that the metal melt, especially at lower, i. only temperatures slightly above the melting point cannot be atomized finely enough or at least partially hardened in the spray jet and even in the spray nozzle. Increasing the temperature of the metal melt in the crucible is not always possible or appropriate, e.g.
when metal coatings are to be produced on relatively heat-sensitive surfaces with the spray gun.
The object of the invention is to remedy this disadvantage of the known designs and to design a metal spray gun of the type described at the beginning with the least possible structural effort in such a way that the metal melt, in particular even at low, i.e. only slightly above the melting point is finely atomized and is neither hardened in the spray jet nor in the spray nozzle during operation.
This object is achieved according to the invention by a built-in gas heater, which can be heated with the melting crucible, for the atomizing gas fed to the spray nozzle.
In this embodiment, the metal melt contained in the crucible of the metal spray gun and flowing through the bottom opening of the crucible of the spray nozzle is sprayed out and atomized with the aid of preheated atomizing gas. On the one hand, this prevents the spray nozzle from being cooled by the atomizing gas and consequently prevents the spray nozzle from being clogged by parts of the molten metal that harden therein. At the same time, cooling and hardening of the molten metal droplets in the spray jet is avoided. The molten metal is therefore sprayed out, finely atomized and kept liquid in the spray jet until it hits the workpiece surface, even at lower temperatures, which are only slightly above the melting point.
The gas heater for the atomizing gas built into the metal spray gun can be of any constructional design and e.g. In an expedient embodiment of the invention, a coil or the like arranged in the melting crucible and at least partially surrounded by the molten metal for the flow of the atomizing gas exist. In terms of construction, however, another embodiment according to the invention is particularly simple and cost-saving, in which the gas heater consists of a hollow jacket that at least partially envelops the melting crucible for the flow of the atomizing gas.
This embodiment has the additional advantage that the hollow jacket provided as a heater for the atomizing gas around the crucible also has a significant heat-insulating effect and keeps the metal melt in the crucible liquid for a long time during temporary work interruptions.
According to a further embodiment, the crucible can be hermetically sealed by a cover and, in its upper part, above the metal melt, can be connected to the pressure feed of the atomizing gas. With this design, the metal melt contained in the crucible of the metal spray gun is not only entrained by the atomizing gas flowing out of the spray nozzle, but also pushed out through the spray nozzle by the supply pressure of the atomizing gas acting on the metal melt in the melting crucible. This on the one hand avoids clogging of the spray nozzle and on the other hand enables the formation of a narrow, finely atomized spray jet even with more viscous metal melts.
The invention is explained below using an exemplary embodiment shown schematically in the drawing.
Show it:
1 shows a metal spray gun according to the invention in side view.
FIG. 2 shows a section along the line II-II in FIG. 1.
3 shows a vertical longitudinal section through the metal spray gun according to FIG. 1 on a larger scale.
The metal spray gun shown is intended for spraying low-melting metals, in particular tin, lead, zinc or the like and their alloys, and consists of a gun body 1 to which a lower, longitudinally directed, rod-shaped holder 3 is attached by means of screws 2,102. The gun body is formed in one piece with a front crucible 4 which has a projecting spray nozzle 5 in the lowermost area on its front side. A two-part handle 6 is provided at the rear end of the gun body and is fastened to the gun body 1 and to the holder 3 by means of screws 7, 8.
At the front end of the rod-shaped holder 3, a downwardly projecting support foot 9 is attached between the latter and the gun body 1 or the melting crucible 4 with the aid of the screw 102 provided here. At the rear end of the rod-shaped holder 3, with the aid of a screw bushing 11, a support 10 which is approximately semicircular in its upper part 110 and fork-shaped in its lower part 210 is attached. When the metal spray gun is grasped at the handle 6, the rod-shaped holder 3 can be at its rear end with the help of the upper semicircular part
Support 110 of the support 10 from below against the forearm of the operator. This absorbs the weight of the crucible 4 and makes the metal spray gun easy to maneuver.
The lower, fork-shaped part 210 of the support 10 forms two rear, mutually protruding support feet which, in conjunction with the front support foot 9, enable the metal spray gun to be set up on a flat surface.
A commercially available fuel gas-oxygen burner 12 is detachably attached under the rod-shaped holder 3 with the aid of an angle piece 13. The angle piece 13 is fixed with one leg on the burner 12 with the aid of the nut 14. The other leg of the angle piece 13 engages in a corresponding recess 15 provided in the support 10 and is fastened therein with the aid of a lateral pressure screw 16, as shown in particular in FIG.
The front end of the burner 12 is passed through a corresponding opening in the front support leg 9 and is arranged and adjusted in such a way that the burner flame is formed under the crucible 4. The outer bottom surface 104 of the crucible 4 runs approximately parallel to the longitudinal center axis 17 of the burner 12 or is inclined slightly downwards to this longitudinal center axis 17, so that it is swept by the burner flame. The crucible 4 is heated so much that the metal contained therein melts. Preferably or for certain work, e.g. if the surface of the workpiece is relatively sensitive to heat, the molten metal 18 in the crucible has a temperature which is only slightly above the melting point.
The longitudinal central axis 19 of the spray nozzle 5, i. the longitudinal center axis of the spray jet emerging from the nozzle 5 is inclined to the longitudinal center axis 17 of the burner 12 and forms an acute angle therewith, as can be seen in particular from FIGS. 1 and 3. The spray nozzle 5 has a central outlet opening 20 for the molten metal and an annular gap or opening ring 21 arranged around this opening 20 for the atomizing gas. A pressurized inert gas, e.g. Nitrogen, can be used. Usually, however, compressed air supplied by a cylinder or a compressor is used as the atomizing gas.
The outlet opening 20 for the molten metal 18 communicates via a radial channel 22 and an annular chamber 23 with a bottom opening 24 of the crucible 4 and is connected and opened with the aid of a jet regulating needle 25 regulating the outflow of the molten metal 18.
The jet control needle 25 is mounted in an inner bottom rib 26 of the crucible 4 coaxially to the central longitudinal axis 19 of the spray nozzle 5 and is guided out of the gun body 1 towards the rear. A closing spring 28 clamped between a collar 27 of the jet regulating needle 25 and a shoulder of the insertion hole for this needle pushes the jet regulating needle 25 forward into its closed position. A screw head 29 is provided on the rear, outer, threaded end of the jet regulating needle 25.
Between this screw head 29 and the gun body 1 a compression spring 30 is clamped, which acts in the opposite direction to the closing spring 28, but is weaker than this: By screwing in and unscrewing the screw head 29, the force of the compression spring 30 and consequently that of the jet regulating needle 25 acting closing pressure can be modified and adapted to various requirements.
To open the outlet opening 20 for the molten metal in the spray nozzle 5, the jet regulating needle 25 is displaced backwards with the aid of the trigger 31 against the force of the closing spring 28. The trigger 31 is carried out with the help of two through an elongated hole 33 in the gun body 1
Cross pins 32 displaceably mounted on the gun body 1 and engages behind with a driver projection 131 on the rear
Screw head 29 attached to the end of the jet regulating needle 25.
To the crucible 4 around a hollow jacket 34 is seen in front of which via a channel 35 and an annular chamber 36 with the annular gap or the opening ring 21 of the spray nozzle
5 communicates. The crucible 4 and its hollow jacket 34 are closed airtight ver with the aid of a cover 56. The cover 56 is rotatably fastened to the lower end of an adjusting screw 37 which is screwed by a support arm 39 which is pivotably mounted on the gun body 1 about the pivot pin 38. By unscrewing the adjusting screw 37, the cover 56 can be lifted from the crucible 4 and then pivoted together with the support arm 39 around the pivot 38 to the side away from the crucible 4.
By screwing in the adjusting screw

56 built-in shut-off and control valve 43 with the hollow jacket 34 of the crucible 4 in connection.
The shut-off and control valve 43 has a spring-loaded, needle-shaped closure body designed as a screw. The hollow jacket 34 of the crucible 4 is connected to the supply of compressed air connected by the screw bushing 11 at the rear end of the rod-shaped holder 3, namely through the channels 44, 45, 46, 47 and through the end thereon , provided in the holder 3 channel 48, which is in the
Screw socket 11 opens. Between the channels 44 and 45 a pressure control valve 49 with a spring-loaded, needle-shaped closure body designed as a screw is provided.
A shut-off valve is provided between the channels 46 and 47, the piston-like closure body 50 of which is held in the closed position by a compression spring 51 and can be moved into the open position by the trigger slide 31 via a plunger 52 against the force of the spring 51. The arrangement is such that when the trigger slide 31 is pulled, the shut-off valve 50 is first opened and then the jet control needle 27 is withdrawn into the open position. If, on the other hand, the trigger slide 31 is released, the jet control needle 27 first moves into the closed position and the shut-off valve 50 for the compressed air closes a little later. With the aid of the trigger slide 31 it is also possible to regulate the spray jet by moving the jet control needle 27 to a limited extent to and fro.
In the case of the metal spray gun described, the compressed air is thus passed through the channels 48, 47, 46, 45 in the gun body 1 and in the rod-shaped holder 3, as well as through the shut-off valve 50 and the pressure control valve 49 via the hollow jacket 34 of the crucible 4 to the annular gap or the nozzle ring 21 the spray nozzle 5 supplied. In the hollow jacket 34 of the crucible 4, the compressed air is passed through the metal melt IS, i. indirectly preheated by the flame of the burner 12 and thereby prevents the metal melt from cooling below the melting point both in the spray nozzle 5 and in the spray jet, which is produced therefrom, before it hits the surface of the workpiece.
In addition, the metal melt 18 in the crucible 4 is subjected to the pressure of the compressed air, as it flows from the hollow jacket 34 of the melting crucible through the channels 42, 41, 40 and the shut-off and control valve 43 into the upper part of the inner crucible space containing the metal melt. The molten metal 18 is consequently pressed out of the crucible 4 through the central outlet opening 20 of the spray nozzle 5 with a pneumatic pressure which can be adjusted with the aid of the valve 43.
The invention is of course not restricted to the exemplary embodiment described above and shown in the drawing, but rather several solutions, in particular different from a structural point of view, are possible within the scope of the general inventive concept. E.g.
For example, the preheater of the compressed air or the atomizing gas can consist of a coil built into the crucible 4 and at least partially flushed on the outside by the metal melt 18 for the flow of the compressed air or the atomizing gas. The connection between the upper part of the melting crucible and the compressed air supply or the pressure supply of the atomizing gas can be made with the aid of channels and valves of any configuration and arrangement. All shut-off or control valves can have any other structural design. In a modified embodiment of the metal spray gun according to the invention, the flame of the fuel-oxygen burner 12 is directed approximately at right angles or at a different angle against the outer bottom surface 104 of the crucible 4.
For this purpose, the front end of the burner 12 with the burner nozzle can be angled upwards.
