The present invention relates to a fixing device for a removable dental prosthesis.
There are various devices of this type making it possible to fix, in a removable manner, a dental prosthesis on frames or pivots permanently fixed in the jaw or the root of a tooth which is still solid.
All of these existing devices have the major drawback of comprising an intermediate part between the implanted framework and the removable prosthesis which does not hold sufficiently rigidly on this prosthesis.
The device, object of the invention, is characterized in that it comprises at least one profile rider made of an elastic material connected by an elastic anchoring of the press-stud type to the removable dental prosthesis, in that this rider comprises a hooking formation intended to cooperate by elastic deformation with the implanted framework with a view to removably fixing the prosthesis in the service position and by the fact that the shapes of the snap-button type coupling and of the formation of 'hooking are such that during the elastic deformation of the latter for the establishment and removal of the prosthesis, the connection between the rider and the prosthesis is reinforced by a self-tightening effect.
The appended drawing illustrates schematically and by way of example an embodiment of the fixing device according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a sectional view of a dental prosthesis fixed in the service position.
Fig. the is an end view of a jumper.
Referring to fig. 1 we see that a removable dental prosthesis b closely matches the shape of the gum g and carries one or more artificial teeth d.
A c-profiled metal frame is implanted in the gum, a solid tooth root or the jawbone and allows the prosthesis b to be fixed in the service position.
The connecting or fixing device between this frame c and the prosthesis b consists of one or more fixing riders a made of an elastic material such as a plastic material.
This jumper a is coupled with the dental prosthesis b by a coupling of the snap-button type, that is to say that to place the jumper in the service position in the prosthesis it must be elastically deformed by bringing its two wings together 1
One from the other, causing the jumper to bend and therefore a reduction in the distance L separating two hooking jaws 2.
This makes it possible to place the upper part, or dorsal part, of the rider a in a housing of corresponding shape made in the dental prosthesis b. Once in place, the rider resiliently resumes its original position and is locked by the jaws 2 in the prosthesis.
To place the prosthesis in the service position, fixed on the implanted framework c, it suffices to press this prosthesis against the round head of this framework which causes an elastic deformation of the rider, its wings 1 move apart to allow the head to pass. of the reinforcement c then return to the normal position under the action of their own elasticity.
The same separation of the wings 1 is caused during the removal of the dental prosthesis.
What is remarkable in this fixation is that the elastic deformation of the wings 1 of the rider when the prosthesis is put in place or withdrawn automatically causes a reinforcement of the connection coupling this rider to the dental prosthesis. Separation of the rider from the prosthesis during the removal of the latter is therefore made impossible.
The replacement of a worn jumper is nevertheless possible; when the prosthesis is removed, the wings 1 can be brought together elastically using a special tool or tweezers and thus extract the rider from the dental prosthesis.
