Abstract

A butcher's protective apron is made of plates of synthetic resin with a woven reinforcement, and jointed together like armour. The plates may be in polyester with glass fibre reinforcement, or they may be reinforced with a synthetic (e.g. polyester) fibre cloth sandwiched between two pieces of glass fibre cloth.The apron pref. consists of 3 columns of plates, joined together by elastic connectors fitted into holes at their corners; the plates of central column are rectangular, and the columns at each side are made of smaller plates. At 500g, the new apron is much lighter than the existing (2 kg) chain mail ones.
