The invention relates to a monitoring device for pouring melt into casting molds, with an actuator influencing the flow rate from a pouring ladle, which is connected to a photo-electrical converter that responds to the radiation of the melt in the pouring system of a mold.
In known devices of this type (DT-AS 1 242 809, CH-PS 404 877) a photocell is aimed at such a point on the casting mold to which the melt only arrives after the desired mold filling has been reached, namely either a riser or a with the pouring funnel by an overflow channel or on the upper edge of an open casting mold. With such devices it is possible to automatically interrupt the casting process at a predetermined level. On the other hand, as a result of the single-point measurement, they do not allow to react to changes that occur during the filling process or with successive forms, such as unequal swallowing capacity, variable flow rate, etc. It is therefore necessary to set the pouring jet practically to the lowest swallowing capacity of the forms.
Another known device - DT-OS 2438 160 has a converging lens directed towards the melt surface in a continuous casting mold with a photocell arrangement in its focal line. An attempt is made to mask out selected areas of the melt surface, the radiation of which is to be concentrated on the focal line or the photo cells, by means of an aperture arrangement upstream of the lens. The disadvantage here is that the diaphragm arrangement causes a significant decrease in brightness and that the given optical arrangement does not allow the radiation of certain, separate areas to be clearly detected.
The invention is based on the object of designing a photoelectric monitoring device in such a way that it continuously encounters the mentioned, changing disturbing influences during the casting process and with different shapes, i.e. H. the pouring amount or the strength of the pouring jet constantly adjusts to the respective absorption capacity of the mold.
The solution to this problem is that the photoelectric converter has an imaging optics that optically exactly depicts an area of the funnel wall extending over the height of the pouring funnel onto at least one flat photo detector which is arranged in the image plane of the optics and which is connected to an evaluation circuit which generates a variable control signal for the control element during the duration of the mold filling, depending on the area illumination of the detector, which varies according to the funnel filling.
In this way, a closed control loop is created, which enables extensive, adaptable automation of the casting process and an increase in the casting performance.
The invention is explained in more detail below using exemplary embodiments in conjunction with the drawing. Show it:
1 shows a schematic representation of the monitoring device with pouring ladle and casting mold,
2 shows a vertical section through a pouring funnel with details of a preferred position of the area shown,
3 shows a vertical section in the optical axis through the photo-electric converter and part of the pouring funnel,
4a shows an example of the course of the regulated outflow quantity s of the melt and
4b shows the associated course of the filling level h in the pouring funnel or of the detector signal as a function of time t and
FIG. 5 shows a variant with three photodetectors in a representation analogous to FIG. 3.
In FIG. 1, the pouring ladle 1 - in the present case a plug ladle with stopper 2 and its actuator, and the casting mold 3 with the pouring funnel 4 and the mold cavity 5 - are shown during the pouring process. To generate a pouring jet 6 with a time-varying outflow quantity, a tilting vessel or the like could also be provided instead of the stopper pan. The monitoring device shown contains a photoelectric converter 10 with imaging optics 12 and at least one planar photodetector 14 (FIG. 3), an electronic computing circuit 16 and the regulator circuit 18. The line 15 feeds the signal from the photodetector 14 to the computing circuit 16, the output line 17 of which the conditioned signal (corresponding to the actual value of the fill level h, FIG. 3) is fed to the regulator circuit 18.
An actual value recorder 21 can be connected to the line 17. The controller circuit 18 also receives, as indicated at 20, a manually adjustable or programmed setpoint and, if necessary, control commands from encoders of an automatic casting system, for example corresponding to the correct positioning of the mold 3. The line 19 carries the variable control signal generated by the controller circuit 18 for the actuator 8 of the plug.
Fig. 3 shows the basic structure of the photoelectric converter 10 and its arrangement in relation to the pouring funnel 4. An area 13 of the funnel wall, which extends over the funnel height (see also FIG. 2), is shown by the optics 12 on the Planar, preferably strip-shaped photodetector 14 arranged in the image plane of the optics is exactly mapped. According to the ascending and descending surface 7 of the melt in the funnel 4, i. H. As a function of the filling level h, the photodetector 14 is illuminated by the melt over a more or less large area and thereby emits a signal that varies with the filling level, preferably proportional to it.
In FIGS. 4a and 4b, an example of the time course of the reference variable h (fill level) and the manipulated variable s (outflow) is shown during a pouring process for the case that the outflow can be set to two discrete values A, H. The corresponding response limits of the reference variable or the filling level in the funnel are marked with hl (transition from A to H) or h2 (transition from H to zero, close plug completely). For illustration, the ideal course of the outflow is shown in dashed lines in FIG. 4a, namely that which is theoretically necessary to obtain a step function (jump empty / full) for the fill level - assuming a constant swallowing capacity of the form. The representation of the level signal, e.g.
B. on a recorder 21, can be useful here, since the optimal choice of the control value H can be inferred from its course.
4a and 4b illustrate the good approximation achieved with the device according to FIG. 1 to the ideal course or to the practical requirements, namely the rapid pouring with maximum outflow with an empty pouring funnel, the subsequent reduction of the swallowing capacity regulated according to the Flow rate during the mold filling and finally the automatic interruption of the pouring process when the filling level in the funnel no longer drops when the pouring stream is interrupted.
Reference measurements can be used to eliminate interfering influences due to fluctuations in the radiation intensity (temperature changes) of the melt, the radiation of the mold walls and the atmospheric absorption of radiation. In Fig. 5 a corresponding arrangement with three photodetectors 14s, 14u, 14w lying in the image plane of the optics 12 is shown schematically, onto which three superimposed partial areas 13s, 13u, 13w of the funnel wall are mapped exactly and separately from each other by the optics 12. The middle detector 14u, in the area 13u of which the surface 7 of the melt normally lies, corresponds to the detector 14 according to FIG. 3 illuminated over a variable area, while the detector 14s provides a reference signal for the radiation of the melt and the detector 14w a reference signal for the Radiation of the mold wall supplies.
The three corresponding signals o ,, as and aw are evaluated in the arithmetic circuit 16 in a manner known per se so that the signal proportional to the level is at its output line 17
EMI2.1
appears.
Since this computational evaluation of the detector signals is based on a ratio formation, fluctuations in the ratio of the melt radiation to the mold wall radiation as well as atmospheric signal fluctuations are compensated.
Provided that the radiation of the mold wall is much smaller than that of the melt, the two signals au and aS alone or their ratio deliver a sufficiently precise reference variable; accordingly, only two photodetectors 14u, 14s are necessary in this case.
In particular, a control signal can be obtained from the absolute value of the signal as, which indicates whether the transition 7 between the melt and the funnel wall is in the area of the detector 14u.
By choosing special photodetectors or by connecting radiation filters upstream, the evaluation can be limited to a sub-range of the spectrum, which, for example, can reduce the influence of extraneous light.
The device described above can be used both for casting in sand molds and for permanent molds.
