Abstract

The temperature indicator has a tubular body (10) closed at the lower end by a pointed section 12). The upper end is opened out (14) and two compartments (24a, 24b) are formed by a seal (26) which is ultrasonically welded when the lower compartment has been filled with a colourant. The upper compartment (24b) is sealed by a convex cap (16) after filling with an opaque absorbant. Cooling the device freezes the colourant which expands and breaks the partition. If the temp subsequently exceeds the melting point of the colourant, it flows into the absorbant and becomes visible.
