Abstract
The parent patent described a device for destroying bacteria in fluids and gases by means of ultraviolet radiation tubes and a tubular vessel, permeable by ultraviolet rays, the radiation lamps being located on parallel axes around it; through which the fluid or gas to be sterilised flows. In the patent of addtn, the circulation system consists of a number of similar flow tubes arranged in a circle, with ultraviolet radiation lamps positioned axially parallel to their inner and outer surfaces. The flow tubes are clamped between two similar end covers which also have provision for the correct positioning of the radiation lamps. The end covers have a ring channel, rectangular in section for the fluid to and from the flow tubes and a flange with recesses for the outer lamp holders and a two-piece reflector, as well as a central bore for a bearing with at least one lamp. More intimate assembly of the radiators and the flow tubes intensifies the action so as to increase throughput, whilst the use of numbers of similar components cheapens production.
